I really have to wonder what they are thinking with this one since it sounds pretty resort themed and they already have a resort limited edition. I would think that there’s a decent number of people that are buying both…

in any case, I’m out. They really broke my trust last year with this one. I bought the resort and CFDA boxes last year and was just meh about the resort and hated the CFDA and sent it back.

I find Popsugar to be so interesting. I find that more people than not are disappointed in their boxes (monthly and LE) than not, yet they continue to put them out and people keep gobbling them up!

I’ll take my $225 to TJ Maxx and put together an awesome box myself!

I typically love the boxes themselves. I enjoy most of the products, especially new brands and items I never would have thought to buy for myself. But their customer service is horrendous, and I think some of their business practices are super scandalous. For example, I bet anything they pushed the mini box wait list to July in order to take advantage of everyone’s FOMO. So people rush to sign us, afraid they’ll have to wait even longer if they don’t sign up right away. But I’m just waiting for same old “Good News! Best.Day.Ever.” email to come out announcing that “they were able to secure an extra May box” for everyone.
Although customer service is terribly slow, they have always provided a satisfactory resolution when they’ve really screwed something up for me, i.e. missing/broken items, box lost in the mail, etc. The end result has, so far, been worth the wait.
This particular box, however, I will not be purchasing, primarily because I can’t imagine it’s actually worth it. If I were a fashion junkie, I would subscribe to one of the high end fashion boxes. But I’m not a fashion junkie. Even if the value of the contents exceeds the purchase price, I don’t see myself ever wearing a $200 shirt or $300 earrings – my ears aren’t even pierced!

I think people who are unhappy are more likely to be vocal, so they’re disproportionately represented in the comments. I imagine that lots of people are happily enjoying their boxes away from the computer.

I am tempted because of the theme. I spend weekends by the pool but after last year I think I will be able to wait and see full spoilers before buying.

When I saw this in the MSA newsletter, I was like, “Popcorn time!” and rushed to the comment section. Y’all did not disappoint, lol.

ya – I was shocked when I saw the email come through from Popsugar – couldn’t believe they were doing it again this year!
hopefully it will include better items than last year – I did like a few things from last year’s, but not for that price.
I’m pretty excited to see what this one actually contains – it should make for some good reading 🙂
(I hope that everyone who does order this box is happy with it, I might be more tempted if it was a different price)

Everyone keeps referencing to last year? What in the world happened last year lol???

Reply ButtonReply

Randi

Scroll down to nana’s comment – she has a link to last year’s…

From what I remember a lot of people weren’t happy with the contents bc they advertised it as “fashion” but there wasn’t an actual wearable item – except for a pair of earrings that a lot of people couldn’t even use. The “value” of the earrings was quite high and then I think they even went on sale on the designers website at one point, only to be marked up again. I think there was also a Marc Jacobs bangle that was from a previous year or season and was available at TJ Maxx.

PS ended up taking returns on that box bc of all of the unhappy people. Then later they sent an email out claiming they “secured” additional inventory and had the box up for sale again on their website… and it was for sale for a looonnngg time, like longer than any other LE box before it finally “sold out” (or they just removed it).

Do you have a link to pre-order this box? I am a Popsugar subscriber but can’t seem to find a link on their website and the link to the box in this post just takes me to the main site. Trying to decide if I want to order… thanks.

I’ve just updated the links in the post to go directly to the CFDA box.

Thanks! Lynn

AnCatDubhNYC

not after last year’s!

Reply ButtonReply

Misty

No kidding! Last year’s CFDA box was a total letdown. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Shelley

I’m actually worried about the cover up being too big. It looks to be loose-fitting anyway, so the “one size fits most” description in the FAQs concerns me. That being said, I think it’s really cute! Just not sure I want to spend that much if I can’t specify a size. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Paige

@Shelley – same here. I am 5’4″, barely a B cup, and their site says the picture is of size small on a 5’10” model. So I am afraid if they send out a generic medium or “one size fits all” it’s gonna be a maxi dress on me! That said, I would so love a nice summer box….I wish more spoilers would come out to convince me one way or another.

Reply ButtonReply

Shelley

Well, I went with my gut and ordered it, hoping it’s a medium. I figured it should be easy enough to alter if it’s too big. The description read “little luxuries perfect for a relaxing day at the pool or a weekend of sun and music”. Hoping for sunglasses, a beach tote, a beach towel, summery jewelry – anything except another pair of ear buds!

Ann

I’d rather buy the adorable striped swim coverup by Marimekko at Target that goes on sale this weekend for $26.99!! Much easier on the pocketbook and more versatile in my opinion. Now if I can only figure out how to beat the masses that will want one too:)

Reply ButtonReply

Janet

I wish I had a life that justified a $100+ beach cover-up.

It’ll be interesting to see how this sells – PS seems to be pushing the limits of what they can get their customers on-board for. Not posting the retail value covers them for problems like they had last year but it also increases the risk for the purchaser. I would hate to spend that much money and end up with items that I probably could have picked out myself for close to the same price (only with having a choice of sizes and colors).

Reply ButtonReply

Aussieten

LOL no. Not again. Really Popsugar? Especially with a spoiler that is a rather unexciting clothing item (which seems only to go to a 12 at best, which sucks since the average woman in the US in a size 14…)

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

^^^^ Yes! I don’t think this box will sell very well. Remember last year when it sold out in about 10 minutes?

Reply ButtonReply

Aussieten

yep. And I was one of the people who bought it! Thank god that I was able to return it!

Karen

Seriously???!!!! This is the item that they think will make us spend $$$? After last year’s fiasco, they will have to do some serious spoilers that will truly whet the appetite. This looks like it’s from the Gap. No, thank you. I think I will keep my hard earned money, don’t want to be a sucker.

Reply ButtonReply

Miranda B.

Ha! Oh no. Not again. I second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth what everyone else says here. Not happening, and especially not for no $225! Shoot no.

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

^^^ I totally love your comment!

Reply ButtonReply

Easteregg

Okay, devils advocate here. It is for charity. Possible saving grace? Tax write off? LOL

Reply ButtonReply

Mandy

Popsugar gets the tax write off. ? We don’t. Is CFDA even a charity? Does it have 501(c) status?

Mary K

I just got my PS Mini. …..crickets….. So this is a really bad day for them to come out with this. Not even tempted.

Reply ButtonReply

Laura Diniwilk

What did you get?????

Reply ButtonReply

Mary K

A candle and a tin of lip balm. I kid you not.

SimpleComplexity1129

Nice try, Popsugar.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

After last year’s CFDA fiasco (which I’m sure they’ve learned from. . so I would guess this will be a much better box), there’s no way I will get this box. I’ve purchased the last few LE boxes and have been really underwhelmed. I’d rather use the money to buy something I know I will like.

Reply ButtonReply

Browning

So I guess I am literally the only sucker for this! I just purchased it. I live in Hawaii so I can wear the coverup year round, and I love the lemlem brand. Pleassssseeee Popsugar, make this a good one!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

I purchased it too. I’m hoping this will be a good one. This will be my first time purchasing this special edition. Please Popsugar make it worth it and I’ll continue every year 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Lily

I think it’ll be good this year; I’m sure they don’t want a ton of people returning boxes again this year, right? Right?! I asked desperately after plunking down $225. I have no self control when it comes to PopSugar. Sigh.

Cindy

Not even tempted a little…..

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

Even if that shirt did fit me, it looks like someone cut in half two different tshirts and sewed them together. I’m not familiar with the brand, but it doesn’t scream luxe to me, and I wonder if this will even be available in larger than a size 12 (which a majority of the population is). They’ve majorly missed the mark on so many items, I think they should create a focus group to get the pulse of what their customers want/expect. Their curation leaves a lot to be desired. Until full spoilers are out, I doubt anyone would even consider taking a chance.

Reply ButtonReply

Paige

I live near a beach and I love a good cover up, but that one is just not my style. I dislike how the stripes don’t match up, although I am sure it is intentional, just not for me. The one on their site says the model is 5’10” and wearing the small. I am 5’4″ and I can’t imagine a garment that fits someone 6 inches taller than me is going to be flattering. Going to pass for now. Maybe if everything else is amazing and it goes on sale…..

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Hah! After last year’s I think I can wait for the full review and there will still be boxes available if i want it then.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

Part of me thinks it will have to be amazing bc they don’t want to have 100 sent back….
It ill just wait till is on RueLaLa since no one is ordering.

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

I bet they won’t take returns this year.

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

Really, these go on RueLaLa?

Reply ButtonReply

Kb

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well, I’m just an idiot.
Ahhhhhhhh, no

Reply ButtonReply

AmyM

Seriously?! After last year’s debacle? You’ve got some cahones, PopSugar. I’ll give you that.
