They write your cats’ names on the lid.  I love this little touch!

Monkey investigates the box.  I think they spray these with catnip or something…

The information card this month had information about spaying and neutering cats (it’s “kitten season” now) and a URL to find out more information about some of the products from the box.

It’s Alive Wiggle Worm from Amazing Pet Products – Value $2.99

You pull the tail on this one and it is supposed to move.  It doesn’t appear to work on carpet very well but it may be better on hardwood floors.

Ruff & Whiskerz Natural Rodentz – Value $5.25

I think we’ve seen Ruff & Whiskerz toys in Meowbox before although this one is new to me.  It looks durable and is a good size for kitties to toss around.  This particular products seems to be out of stock at a lot of places.

Flour’s Garden Handmade Cat Toy – Value $8

Several of the cats liked this one.  I think it is a teabag and they enjoyed the teabag part as well as the tag part.

One Pet Planet Wooly Fun – Value $12.27

Monkey found this pretty fun.  This price seems kind of high to me but that is what it is going for new on Amazon (and not from a third-party seller).

Prime Taste Treats Choice Chicken Flavor (2.1 oz) – Value $4.99

We are getting a lot of dental treats lately.  I am not sure how effective they are at dental care since I don’t think my cats chew on treats (they seem to inhale the treats).  But they did like these and I guess that is what counts.

Madison had his photogenic day with Pet Gift Box so he was back to his usual timidity…

This isn’t a great picture but it illustrates something Monkey did for several of the toys in this box.  I would put them on the floor near them and he would sit on them.  He did this repeatedly.  It’s not something he ever did before and I have no idea what he was trying to accomplish.  But it was funny.

Monkey did a lot of rolling on the floor with the woolly mouse, too.

meowbox-april-2016-sneaky

I really do love it when Sneaky bites things.

meowbox-april-2016-mrkitty

Mr. Kitty didn’t want anything to do with toys the day I took these pictures.  What he wanted was lovin’.  He seriously would not leave me alone – followed me everywhere.  (Of course he got a lot of petting that day!)

Verdict: I calculated a value of $33.50 for the April Meowbox.  That is right around the cost of the box on a month-to-month basis and is quite a bit better than last month.  This is a subscription that tends to be on the low side when it comes to value so I would still suggest getting a multi-month subscription with a coupon code to get the best deal.  It also helps if you have multiple cats – I find that my cats often each like different items from the box.

As a former cat rescue foster parent, I’ve had the privilege of living with close to 100 felines over the years. I’ve come to see the “toy-sitting” as part of the hunt process:
1] Stalk/Catch”
2] bite/shake/stun/kill
3] Sit on top to
A] show it’s theirs
B] prevent preys escape (if playing dead)
C] ensure kill success (will feel movement if “playing dead”)

My male cat also sat on his favorite toys. He would pull them out of your hand, and veeery carefully maneuver his fluff-but onto them. It just started one day when he was about 7 and he only does it with a select few toys. Cats are truly strange. *shrug*

Great pictures as always!

That’s a great shot of Sneaky with the tea bag!

Thanks! She’s usually the best one for cooperating with photo sessions.

(However, you have no idea how many photos I took and rejected before getting a good one…)
