This month's theme is "Wind." That reminds me of a commercial my kids absolutely love that everyone should see!
Koala Crate sends a magazine every month called "imagine!" It's full of activities and stories for little ones. I don't have any preschool aged children, so I had to get a little help from my two buddies, Jagger (age 5) and Brooklyn (age 3), and their mom, Claudia. Thanks so much for helping, guys!
This is the inside of the instruction booklet. There were three projects this month: Wind Car, Windsock, and Weather Chart. Fun! This also gives you some idea of what the instructions look like. The instructions are clear and easy-to follow, with pictures to go along with the words for our little pre-readers.
These are the supplies that were included. Nothing else was required from home this month!
This is their completed wind car. It runs on wind like a sailboat, and it has interchangeable masts! This was reportedly too hard for the kids to do without a lot of assistance, but once they got it assembled, they had a lot of fun with it.
This is their completed windsock! It turned out really cute! And they were able to complete this project much more independently.
This is their weather chart. They can stick the reusable stickers on the chart to show what the weather was like that day. They can also consult their windsock to see how windy it was. Fun!
Verdict: I love everything that Kiwi Crate makes, and these guys really love their Koala Crate! Like Kiwi Crate's other offerings, Koala Crate does require a good bit of adult involvement and supervision. It varies from month to month, but some supervision is always needed.
If you want to just hand your child something to keep them busy for a while, I would not judge you! But this is not the activity for that. This is more about bonding with your child, crafting and learning together. It's very well put together, and it's a pretty amazing value at $20 a month!
