Cat Lady Box Subscription Box Review – April 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Cat Lady Box is a monthly subscription box for cat ladies (or anyone who is crazy about cats)!  The Cat Lady Box has 2-3 cat-themed items – wearables, items for the home, books, etc.  The Crazy Cat Lady Box contains everything from the Cat Lady Box plus a few items just for cats.

Please note: Cat Lady Box recently changed the way they name their boxes, so the last box you saw was the February box but this is the April box.  Subscribers will still get all the boxes they paid for, but since Cat Lady Box ships so late in the month, they decided to skip the name “March” and call the box that ships in late March the April box since most subscribers receive it in April.  (Hope that makes sense.)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Cat Lady Box

Agh.  My “helper” strikes again…

The Cost: $34.99 per month for the regular Cat Lady Box and $39.99 per month for the “Crazy” Cat Lady Box.

The Products: Unique and exclusive cat lady finds, from cat-themed jewelry and clothes to accessories, home décor, books, and more.

Ships to: US (free in the contiguous 48 states), UK ($12.95), Canada (and Alaska and Hawaii, $6.95)

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month.  And the back has more information about the items in the box, including the makers of the custom items.

They also included a spoiler for the May box, which will celebrate cat ladies (cat moms) everywhere!

Spring Kitten Tote Bag by Tiniest Tiger (exclusive) – Value $39.99

This is a nice tote, and pretty big too.  I do carry a few things in a tote to the office each day and I will be reaching for this one from now on.  This is an exclusive item so I am taking the value from the information card.

Colorful Spectra Cat Umbrella (exclusive) – Value $37.99

This is another exclusive item.  I am immediately replacing the umbrella in my purse with this one.

Here’s a look at the open umbrella.  Cats and bright colors – what’s not to love?

Hermie Worm by Loopies – Value $6.49

Take the price here with a grain of salt.  The only listing I could find for this was unclear as to what was included.  The price of the individual toy might be a little less than this.  At any rate, we have gotten one of these before in a box and my cats liked it so they were happy to have another.

Eco Stacks by Hauspanther – Value $3

This is just a stack of cardboard attached together.  But my cats loved it.  Sneaky batted it all over the house.

Kitty picture time!

Madison wasn’t feeling photogenic the evening I took these.  This is about the best I could do.

Here’s Monkey with the worm toy.

Sneaky batted this everywhere.  (Please don’t mind the dust on the floor.  I promise we’re cleaning the house soon…)

Caught Mr. Kitty with his eyes open, finally (he is having eye trouble lately, we go back to the vet in another day or two for a re-check and he gets 6 drops a day! In each eye!).

And here he is with the worm toy.  He was in a good mood that evening.

Verdict: I calculated a value of a little over $87 for the April 2016 (Crazy) Cat Lady Box.  That is double the cost of the box and I loved everything in it.  This box consistently has a good value and lots of unique items and is probably one of my favorites.

What do you think of the April Cat Lady Box? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?

  1. I just got my first Cat Lady Box and I love it! I think it is the May box. I don’t usually post, but I love everything in the box and 2 of my 3 cats immediately claimed the toys. They are both still playing with them 30 minutes later! I am so glad I subscribed.

  2. I wish I had this box! I subscribed for the next one. I am thinking about using the 20% off coupon in the email I got today to get the tote, though. It is so darn cute! And I love the umbrella but I already have two umbrellas I like.

    • Your cats are adorable! Keep the pictures coming 🙂 I subbed to the may box and can’t wait to get it!

  3. I will probably never spend $40 on a subscription box, but I love reading your posts about your cat ones. Your cats are soooooo cute!

  4. Is there anyway to still purchase this box? I know I can get May right now, but I want this one!

  5. Thank you for the meowvalous review, Ragan! And thanks to Mr. Kitty and Sneaky for pawticipating so nicely! 😉

I’m happy you all loved everything, and that we’re one of your favorites! YAY!

    • …and I just realized I posted this already below…duh…more coffee. :p

  6. Orange kitty must be a box cat
I have one of those. My (slightly overweight) black kitty can’t resist an open box, no matter what size it is. She would try to get her fat kitty butt in a single serving cupcake box if she could manage it 🙂

  7. This looks like such a wonderful box! I’m still mourning the loss of my 16 year old kitty Simba so I think getting this box would make me sad right now. But when I’m ready for a new fur baby, I could see myself subbing to this one.

    • I’m sorry for your loss. =( I have lost a cat before and it stinks. Having a whole lot of them helped get me through, though. (I worry constantly about Mr. Kitty because he is almost 12 and has been dealing with IBD and immune suppressing drugs for three and a half years.) I am the sort to go out and get a new pet almost immediately after an old one passes on, though (I got Nyx less than two months after my previous Rottie passed away). But we all deal with these things in different ways.

      • Thanks Ragan, I’ll send positive thoughts Mr Kitty’s way. I really do love reading all your pet box reviews and adore the pics of your cats. I think that’s my substitute pet fix for now. 🙂

  8. I am so tempted to get this for my daughter! She is owned by my grand-kitty Ziggy, and is truly a cat-lady. Is this box still available? She (and Ziggy) live in Portland, so that umbrella would be perfect.

    • Hi Mimi!

This particular box isn’t available as a whole box, but we have leftovers of a couple of the items in our Shop Past Boxes section on the site! I hope we can send her some boxes soon!

My sister lives in Portland, and you’re right! Always a little drizzle there. 😉 It would make the rainy days a little brighter!

  9. I love CatLadyBox!!

  10. The Tiniest Tiger is my favorite cat blog! I highly suggest checking them out at I’ve been on the fence about this box because the past ones weren’t overly exciting to me, but this one looks really good.

    • Yes! We love Tiniest Tiger and all the good they do. Big Cats (and all the other wild animals) need love, too!

  11. That tote looks really nice (but I have a bag problem) – I always love the kitty pictures!!!

    • P.S. The bag doesn’t come with tan fuzz on it. =) I had just pushed Monkey out of the way for a picture and his tail was still partly in the shot.

  12. Loved this box! The tote and umbrella are gorgeous and incredibly high quality, so much so that I have colleagues threatening to steal both items when I’m not looking. All three of my cats also enjoyed the toys, especially the seemingly worthless cardboard toy. For all the enjoyment, that mundane toy is truly priceless! Crazy Cat Lady Box is the best subscription box I’ve had in a while and I really look forward to extending my subscription beyond three months.

    • Awwww! Thank you for the awesome comment and feedback, Carrie! I was surprised about the cardboard toy, too… but then I remembered how much kitties love boxes, and a toy made out of box?! Purrfect! 😉

I can’t wait to send you more boxes! Yay!

  13. That umbrella is seriously beautiful! My sister would love something like that. Do they have good Black Friday sales? (I know I am way early in planning) but I would love to gift her a pet box for my cat nephew Diggy. This would have goodies for her and him!

    • They did have a Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sale! It was something like 25 or 30% off. I was super happy to pick up a longer subscription with the adjusted price.

    • Hi Geordana!

Yes, we definitely do! And we have other discounts and offers during the year, too. If you want, you can sign up for emails on our site and then you won’t miss any! Your sister sounds like our kind of lady! 😉

  14. I love my umbrella so much! Oh the colors! And the bag is really nice too but if you get lots of sub boxes you get lots of tote bags ( though this is my largest & nicest one!)
    Your cats are so adorbs!!

    • Hi Wendy!

I’m so happy you loved it all! I hear you on the tote bags… haha. We included this one because, to me at least, it’s more of a purse. A lot nicer than a regular kind of shopper bag. 😉 We’ll lay off them for a while, I purromise!

  15. My cats LOVE the worm. Ellie keeps bringing it to me all over the house. Haven’t tried the cardboard toy yet, but hopefully it will be just as much of a hit.

    • I was surprised, but several cats really liked the cardboard toy. Maybe it is coated in catnip oil or something. Sneaky chewed on it a lot but I couldn’t get a good picture of that.

      • Good to hear!

    • Yay! I’m glad Ellie loved her worm! We’ve seen some of the cutest pictures of the kitties with them… makes me so happy to see! The cute cat pictures are the best part. 😉
