I will watch this box, because apparently we all have our different ideas of ‘edgy’ and it *is* spring time, so things are not quite as beautifully darkly edgy as I usually prefer. If they can buddy up with someone similar to Joomi Lim (hint, hint) then….. well, they’d get me but lose some of the rest of you. Maybe see you around Halloween, when the world, ‘edgy’ or not, seems to naturally gravitate more toward my style anyway. πŸ™‚

Glad I did not spring for this, as this is not what I envision when I hear “edgy”. Alexander McQueen and all of his spikes and skulls – edgy. Miss that dude something fierce. Rainbow snakeskin and plain band midi rings in silver rather than gold – not edgy, but uh, thanks for pretending to try? I guess. I think the only person I know who would consider this edgy would be the church secretary up the street. I’ve heard she’s a very nice lady, but I wore a vintage Slayer shirt up to the neighborhood grocery store once and now she’s afraid of me, so I really wouldn’t know. πŸ˜‰

100% agree. I think they played it safe, which I didn’t expect from a box created for a niche market. Glad that I passed.

I disagree somewhat. We envision the same thing, but I can see how this stuff would work within that. But I also love silver and abhor most gold jewelry.

What a disappointment! I I was so excited when this box was launched and I hate everything in this box. I was looking for something more edgy and hip and dark. Nothing in this box to me is worth the money. Not worth 100. I signed up for an annual membership to. Would of rather signed up for Rachel Zoe instead. Hopefully they improve or lower the cost because I just do not see the value! Not impressed at all! Going on the swap site! Anyone want my box?!

I would love to have the rings, if you are willing to separate the box! Please consider!

Oh woW, I love this new box. I wear false eyelashes, Polish is right on. Clutch would be perfect with my classy jeans and that necklace to die for! Beautiful. Love the rings too. I love everything about it. Thank you for sharing. Now need to see if I want to spend 100. I think it’s worth it. I just find other boxes to be just as wonderful but a lower price point. But I might have to give in ?super box??

I like 3 out of the 5 items. I can’t do false lashes and I’m all nail polished out, but I do like the Jewelry and the bag. I’ll admit I was hoping for something a little less ‘city edgy’ and something a little more macabre. Something a little creepy, dark or anatomical. I think I got my hopes up a little with the title and description of the box. That’s my fault, though.

It’s hard to get me to part with $100 for a box. I’ve been burned by Popsugar LE Boxes too many times to spend that much again. I’d try it out if there was a smaller box.

I agree – I was hoping for creepier and a little darker.
However I’ll admit the teaser ‘mission’ video they posted left me confused and concerned with visions of leopard print socks so I am pleasantly surprised by the first box. If there’s a couple consistent boxes in a row I may subscribe.

I like this box, which is surprising, considering I’m NOT edgy at all.

It’s not really an “edgy” box! So you are safe πŸ˜›

I love the theme and I feel like the box is ALMOST there, but it isn’t quite enough to be competitive in the current market. I see the urban chic look in this, the lady that was the punk or goth in high school and kept her dark edge when she grew up but added a lot of class to it. I’m pretty much their target audience, and I think the big thing I want to see (other than value, of course) are brands that aren’t in other boxes all the time like Deux Lux. I wouldn’t have put eyelashes in the box because that is something that kinda requires some skill, but I do “get” why they’re in there.

My favorite brand is a smaller London one called Religion. I’d freak out seeing anything from them in a sub box!

@HappyRebelBox

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, Phedre! We are certainly looking to increase the value as our subscriber base grows. I will definitely be checking out the brand you mentioned! πŸ˜€

Listed the entire thing for swap. Horribly dissapointed- there is nothing edgy about this, and where are my skulls?! Blue nail polish is against Med school dress code regulations, and fake lashes are just trashy in my book. Oh well, I guess I learned another hard financial lesson lol.

I’m pretty good with this box. It is their first one so I’m sure it takes awhile for RV to go up – Rachel Zoe has a lot of clout, same with Nina Garcia, so I don’t think that comparing them right now is too fair.

The only item I’m not here for is eyelashes, but that’s because I’m awful with them. I’m pretty stoked to get more silver jewelry (that necklace is worth the price) and I can see using every other item in the box. Very thoughtful curation. I’m hoping there will be home items in the next one as I’m moving to a new apartment πŸ™‚

Actually most other boxes started high value and went down once they had secured an audience.

IDK, Rachel Zoe’s first box was just okay but every other has been great and she keeps sending more perks, like the $50 gift card to her store she sent. Nina Garcia… I have no idea what happened but I have hope for the next box.

Did you buy the box?

Reply ButtonReply

Adina

Yes, I paid for a yearly sub. The promo video was very well done and seems to fit my style.

Stephanie

I love that polish. The Deux Lux is cute, but I don’t know if the value is there for the box. Some of that pattern for Deux Lux is on sale right now for half of the original retail. I don’t wear false lashes and I think the midi rings are a bit cheap for a $100 box. The curation is cute and fits the theme, but they need more of a wow factor to tempt me out of my $100.

sarah

i know this is the first box, and it takes time to build up, but the value just is not enough for me to want to purchase it, especially when other $100 boxes out there like rachel zoe are much higher in value, and contain popular brands. I plan to keep watching this box to see where it goes, and perhaps if the value gets better, i will subscribe.

I really like how this box “tells a story”. I can see myself using everything to go out. I love it when I can envsion how to put each item together and how to use them. I look forward to receiving my box soon!

@HappyRebelBox

Thanks Sandy! Have a great weekend!

Yumi

Contrary to some of the opinions in the comments, I think the curation was on point and fits the bill for a chic and edgy city girl. Although the value for a $100 box is still good, I would subscribe only if the value was over double the cost of the box, because a $100 is a lot to drop on a single box. Additionally, the brands Deux lux and essie wouldnt excite me as much as getting a higher end nail polish and indie label that made quality products. Overall, for being a brand new subscription box, I think it’s a great start!

@HappyRebelBox

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, Yumi! Our purchasing power will grow with our subscriber base, and we will pass that value onto our subscribers. We already anticipate an increased RV on our Summer box. Have a great weekend!

So. 100 for this or 100 for Rachel Zoe. Value wise it is no contest.

Diana

I like this box. The colors line up with what I already have in my closet. I’m not much of a pastel woman. Looking forward to future boxes.

Reply ButtonReply

lisad

So glad I didn’t bite on this one, not my taste at all but I hope those who ordered are happy.

Reply ButtonReply

Rain

I think the curation is great, but the value is not there. It’s like paying retail for the false lashes, nail polish, and rings, and $36 each for the necklace and clutch. You could just buy very similar stuff for the same price. Deux Lux routinely discounts their products far below retail. But the items are well-chosen and do represent what I think of as “working professional” edgy without being Hot Topic/teenage edgy.

Reply ButtonReply

Annie

I agree completely, this is much better than I was expecting. I actually really like this box, but wouldn’t use any of the items in it.

Reply ButtonReply

Mish

I read this edgy as urban chic – like new york city chic – versus punk rock or whatever this represents. i listed it on swaps but i’m pretty overwhelmed with items already until I stop subscribing (which I have now just done) so likely will need to list on eBay and come at a loss with all the fees. pretty disappointing to say the least. wish i could turn this around for cost. would love it to be more of a professional city woman with edge direction next time. But hey, that’s just me.

Reply ButtonReply

@HappyRebelBox

Hi Mish – We feel that the overall look you end up with when styling these items totally depends on what you pair it with as you make it your own! For example, you could carry this clutch with a pencil skirt and blouse for a more polished professional look with just a touch of edge, or take it to a rock concert while wearing destroyed denim and a leather jacket! “Edgy” certainly means different things to different people, and staying true to your style is definitely important! Have a great weekend!

Mish

Really happy you are reading the comments. Look forward to seeing the next boxes since we are in for the year. Have a good weekend.

Mish

Sure, but I also look to boxes where I can get items that I can’t find in Duane Reade across the street. ESPECIALLY $100 Luxury Boxes. If this was a cheap $30 box, then sure, but I don’t buy those.

Mish

I was REALLY hoping more for New York City chic than punk rock whatever this is. If anyone wants to buy mine, it’s theirs – for cost. Hate to go the ebay route due to all the fees. :/ But it’s up on swaps. Just don’t have the $100 of items needed right now :/

Rhi

Is it listed as the whole box or separate items? I’d love to swap for the rings. ????

Reply ButtonReply

Mish

didnt see this post. feel free to delete the duplicate.

Rhi

Ohhhh I want those Midi Rings like crazy. So, if anyone bought this box & is listing them, PLEASE let me know. I want them very badly.

Reply ButtonReply

@HappyRebelBox

Hey Rhi! If you don’t have any luck on the swap page, the rings are available for individual sale on our website! πŸ™‚

Rhi

Oh! Thank you for letting me know! I just love the look of the metal! I’ll search the swap site now & then possibly buy if they aren’t available on there. Again, thanks!
