Salt & Storm by Kendall Kulper - Value $18 (On Amazon for $11.25)

Book Summary from Amazon:

A sweeping historical romance about a witch who foresees her own murder--and the one boy who can help change her future.

Sixteen-year-old Avery Roe wants only to take her rightful place as the witch of Prince Island, making the charms that keep the island's whalers safe at sea, but her mother has forced her into a magic-free world of proper manners and respectability. When Avery dreams she's to be murdered, she knows time is running out to unlock her magic and save herself.

Avery finds an unexpected ally in a tattooed harpoon boy named Tane--a sailor with magic of his own, who moves Avery in ways she never expected. Becoming a witch might stop her murder and save her island from ruin, but Avery discovers her magic requires a sacrifice she never prepared for.

Book Summary from Amazon:
One moment. One foolish desire. One mistake. And Corinthe lost everything.

She fell from her tranquil life in Pyralis Terra and found herself exiled to the human world. Her punishment? To make sure people's fates unfold according to plan. Now, years later, Corinthe has one last assignment: kill Lucas Kaller. His death will be her ticket home.

But for the first time, Corinthe feels a tingle of doubt. It begins as a lump in her throat, then grows toward her heart, and suddenly she feels like she is falling all over again--this time for a boy she knows she can never have. Because it is written: one of them must live, and one of them must die. In a universe where every moment, every second, every fate has already been decided, where does love fit in?

Verdict: I think this is a great book subscription if you are looking for value. It would cost me approximately $26 to buy these books from Amazon, so to get them for $15 is a great deal. To provide that value, I imagine BookCase.Club gets deals on books that aren't new releases. (These were originally published in 2014.) If you don't need the most recent books, I think this could be a perfect book subscription.

I'm excited to read the Salt & Storm book, but a little hesitant about Fates. It gets pretty mixed reviews on Amazon, and it is book 1 of a 2-book series.

I also like that BookCase offers some pretty unique categories. There are a few romance book subscription boxes, but I believe this is the first paranormal romance book box!
