vegancutssnack-january-2016-card

Every box comes with an information card.  It lists the snacks but is a little light on the details – mostly contains social media information these days…

vegancutssnack-january-2016-acai

Peaceful Fruits Wild Acai + Pineapple (0.25 oz) – Value $1.25

This looked like nori (seaweed) to me, but it had a nice tart flavor and wasn’t tough at all.

Wild Friends Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter (1.15 oz) – Value $1

Next week is peanut butter sandwich week for me (my fiancé and I have a lunch rotation) so I am saving this.  It will be a nice change of pace from regular peanut butter.

vegancutssnack-january-2016-bars

Earnest Eats Superfood Trail Mix Bar (qty 1) – Value $1.20

This was pretty small, I guess to keep the calories down.  It was a decent bar but nothing really stands out about it to me.

Live Smart Fruit and Nut Raw Bar (qty 1) – Value $1.67

This was larger than the other bar but very similar in my mind.  Neither was particularly sticky, and neither was too hard.  I think I wish they had been just a bit more flavorful, though.

vegancutssnack-january-2016-chips

Party Tizers Veggie Dippin’ Chips (1.5 oz) – Value $0.57

These are shaped like Tostitos Scoops.  They have a few veggies incorporated into them, but it’s not really like you’re getting a serving of vegetables by eating them.  Still, they do the hidden veggie thing better than some other snacks I’ve tried!

Beanitos Hint of Lime (1.5 oz) – Value $0.84

Favorite thing in the box, hands down, and favorite Beanitos ever.  These were delicious and they had a nice crunchy texture, too.  (I love “hint of lime” tortilla chips in general.)

vegancutssnack-january-2016-drinks

Rebel Kitchen Organic Coconut Drink with Coffee (11 fl oz) – Value $8.95

So I don’t like coffee.  At all.  I am letting my fiancé have this.  (Perhaps that makes me unusual.  And I know this will be a hit with the coffee fans.  But I am more of a tea drinker, myself.)  I think this is a British import, hence the high price.

Dark Dog Energy Drink (12 fl oz) – Value $2.47

I didn’t get this box all of last year, only part, but I already received this three times (different flavors).  The information card says this is a past favorite but I wonder if they just had too much left over…it’s not bad for an energy drink.  Lower in calories than most.

vegancutssnack-january-2016-noodles

Explore Asian Thai Brown Rice Noodles (8 oz) – Value $3.83

I love Vegan Cuts pantry items.  This is something else they’ve sent out before.  But it is something I buy at Whole Foods sometimes, anyway.  I prefer whole grains so I’m happy to see these are brown rice noodles.  We made vegetarian Pad Thai tonight and used these noodles.

vegancutssnack-january-2016-popcorn

Sinfully Thin Blue Corn Popcorn (0.35 oz) – Value $0.34

This was better than I expected.  It’s low(ish) in salt but it’s still pretty flavorful.  I’m a fan.  (Although they say blue corn is sweeter here, I don’t really notice much of a difference.)

Zema’s Ancient Whole Grain Sweet Potato and Quinoa Pancake Mix (3.2 oz) – Value $2.65

This made four pancakes.  They were pretty light and spongy for something gluten free.  (We kind of cheated and made them with cow’s milk and eggs, but there are directions for a vegan version as well.)

vegancutssnack-january-2016-literature

There’s usually some product literature and/or coupons with the snack box.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $24.77 for this month’s Vegan Cuts Snack Box.  That is over the cost of the box, and on the high side for a Vegan Cuts Snack Box, which is great.  On the other hand, there were definitely some repeats and the high value item (the coffee drink) is not to my taste.  But, I think it was a good variety overall and the pantry items were definitely hits, as were the Beanitos.

What do you think of the January 2016 Vegan Cuts Snack Box?
