Gwynnie Bee is a clothing rental subscription service for women sizes 10-32. I have been intrigued with their concept for a while because I think plus-sized clothing is sorely underserved in the subscription box market. I have been having a lot of fun with this subscription!

Gwynnie Bee kindly invited me to try their service for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This review is of the 3 items at a time subscription from 1/21 through 2/20. Gwynnie Bee gave subscribers an additional item at-a-time back at the beginning of the holidays as a gift, and so far they have not taken my fourth item away yet. So, I had a few more items in the rotation than usual.

JETE - Patchwork Printed A-Line Dress

This was one of my favorite items all month! The fit was loose but not sloppy, and it had a nice open neckline. Plus I loved the colors. If this dress shows up in the Gwynnie Bee shop later on I might have to snag it!

UNIVERSAL STANDARD - Garamond Vested Blazer In Universal Black

I wanted to try this blazer (with built-in vest) because I liked its unique style, but it didn't look good on me. It was structured, but it was still somehow too boxy on me. It was one of the very few items I've ever rented from GB that I didn't actually wear.gwynnie-bee-feb-leaf

ISABEL + ALICE - Midnight Foliage Faux Wrap Dress

This dress has a really cool optical effect from far away. It's as if the fabric is grey but reflects red! Otherwise this dress was nice but nothing too special on me up close.

IGIGI - Ifyia Floral Print Blouse In Red

What a romantic top! This would have been perfect for Valentine's Day, but I forgot and sent it back early.

GABBY SKYE - Boatneck Geometric Print Shift Dress

This dress was a little too shapeless for me when I wore it. I really liked the effect of the red vs. cream colored sections, though.

JETE - Paper Mache Colorblock A-Line Dress

This was the second of two A-line, colorblock dresses from Jete that I wound up getting this month. Getting the same dress in different colors or patterns is something that tends to happen to me a lot! I loved the shape and neckline of this particular dress, though, so it was okay with me.

ISABEL + ALICE - Floral Printed Faux Wrap Top

I will just never learn with wrap tops! Even when they do hit at the perfect spot, I wind up being self-conscious about them all day long. I loved the print and color scheme of this one, though.

ISABEL + ALICE - Lavender Baroque Floral A-Line Dress

The shape and colorblocking on this dress is almost identical to the two Jete dresses, but this one is by Isabel + Alice. I had the same experience with this dress, though - comfy, flattering, nice open neckline. Plus I love purple!

gwynnie-bee-feb-blouse

MBN - Olivia Top In Burgundy

What you can't see in this picture (or on the GB website) is that the sleeves on this blouse are slit from shoulders to wrists. If I had longer arms it might have been fine, but I have short arms, so the sleeve material hung under, and my arms were completely exposed. It wound up looking a little costume-y on me, so I had to send this back without wearing it. Nice color, though.

gwynnie-bee-feb-duster

CITY CHIC - Aztec Longline Cardi

This duster is almost perfect! It has a great length, cool pattern, and is very slimming! If it wasn't made of acrylic I would have bought it.

gwynnie-bee-feb-kiyonna

KIYONNA - Quilted Wrap Jacket In Maroon

Can a jacket feel both comfortable and kind of glamorous? This one did! I was debating whether or not to send this back, and I only did because the color is a little limiting. Now I hope it shows up in the shop!

MELISSA MCCARTHY SEVEN7 - Roll Up Straight Leg Jean In Bonafide Wash

Next month I will be reviewing fewer items because I've decided to hang on to these jeans for a while. They fit like a dream! Plus they are flattering and super comfy. I haven't decided if I'm going to buy them yet or not, but that's the beauty of this subscription. I can hold on to them for as long as I like! Maybe a good sale will come along on at-home items - that happens pretty frequently too!

gwynnie-bee-feb-long

IGIGI - Bellissima Dress In Teal Dahlia

I haven't worn this dress yet, mainly because it was supposed to come with a sash belt and it wasn't included! That's never happened to me with GB before. I'm going to contact customer service and see what they have to say. I'm looking forward to wearing it, though. It looks great on the model!

VerdictGwynnie Bee is so fun! It's become a regular part of my monthly wardrobe rotation, and I couldn't be happier! I wear almost everything they send (ideal or not), so I feel like I have a never ending wardrobe. I think it's also cut down on my spending as far as clothing goes, which is great because I tire of items quickly. I'm a big fan of Gwynnie Bee!

Tried the free month and never received the first item. I saw where it was shipping, and then it just sat there. Called customer service and they were going to send again. Never happened. Called again and just cancelled the whole thing. No apology or followup. Was so excited to try, just to be disappointed.

I can’t live without this sub. I’m on a weight loss plan and would have approximately 3 articles of clothing to wear. Instead I have new clothes every week.

I have heard the complaints about not receiving belts but somehow I do seem to get them. I can’t imagine how complicated it must be to keep them together with their clothing. When returning I usually loop the belt through a sleeve and tie a bow. Would be so easy to lose….

FYI it looks like they raised their prices by ALOT! Website says 1 item is $49, 2 items is $69 and 3 items is $95…

That is insane pricing! How can they justify the increase? New members aren’t getting additional benefits. The service is still the same. I used to live this subscription but recently their customer service has been ignoring the issues I have and not returning my calls. The “discount” buy at home prices have been more expensive then the prices of new items from other websites, and I keep getting garments with no belts.

I canceled after a few months, it’s really not worth it at the old price. Let alone the new prices are shocking! I rarely got things that fit correctly, or it took forever to receive new items. I sent stuff back and they never checked it in, so it was stuck in my closet and I couldn’t get any new items. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Plus they’re used clothes, to buy them you’re still paying full price it’s ridiculous.

Then 5 is $139, 7 is $179 and 10 is $199. That is one heck of a price hike up. I’m guessing existing customers are grandfathered in? That does not make me want to start a subscription knowing that most customers are paying between $15 and $40 less a month than I will be 🙁 I’m scared to start the free trial too because I will be so upset if I forget to cancel and get charged $95!

The belt thing happens a LOT. There is a group on Facebook where a bunch of GB subscribers share reviews, pics, comments and such and it happens to a LOT of people. You got some cute stuff! I’ve had that blazer closeted since it first came out and they haven’t sent it to me yet.

Three times now Gwyennie Bee has forgotten a sash or belt for my outfit. Each time I have gotten a “sorry” but no offer to ever send the belt. They did offer me a free 7 day upgrade once, and a 30 day garment upgrade once, but I am frustrated that their quality control can’t figure out how to fix this issue.
