Cat Lady Box Subscription Box Review – January 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Cat Lady Box is a monthly subscription box for cat ladies (or anyone who is crazy about cats)!  The Cat Lady Box has 2-3 cat-themed items – wearables, items for the home, books, etc.  The Crazy Cat Lady Box contains everything from the Cat Lady Box plus a few items just for cats.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Cat Lady Box

The Cost: $34.99 per month for the regular Cat Lady Box and $39.99 per month for the “Crazy” Cat Lady Box.

COUPON: Use coupon code CATHAT to get a free knit hat when you sign up for a subscription! ($34.99 a month). Learn more about this limited time offer here!

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month.  And the back has more information about the items in the box, including the makers of the custom items.

Cats are Love Shirt from The Dreamy Giraffe – Value $29.99

I seem to remember there being a “wearable” spoiler for this month’s box and this is it!  This is perfect for me – my weekend wardrobe consists of t-shirts from the now-defunct LOLmart “shirt of the day” series.  But it is cold outside, so it is nice to have a long-sleeved cat t-shirt!  (They had a pretty wide size range available during the sign up process.)  I took the value from the information card since this is a custom piece.

Chunky Knit Cat Hat – Value $24.99

This is another exclusive item.  I could probably make something like this pretty quickly on my knitting loom but anyway, it definitely works for crazy cat ladies like myself.  I will be wearing it out into the yard when I take the dog to do her business.  Because it is cold outside and that is the only time I spend out there right now!

Organic Catnip Heart Pillow by Imperial Cat – Value $3.99

The Crazy Cat Lady version of the box always includes a couple of toys.  This one is super appropriate for Valentine’s Day.  And it has a Velcro fastener on the side so you can replace the catnip!

Silver Pawromise Ring by Designs by Marlayna – Value $9.90

This is yet another custom piece.  However, there are a lot of similar items in the Designs by Marlayna Etsy store (linked to above).  This fit me pretty much as-is, but it is adjustable.  And very cute.

Here’s a close-up of the ring.  Pay my out-of-control cuticles and dry hands no mind…

Catnip Cupcake by Loopies – Value $5.99

I could only find these at wholesale websites so I’ve included the suggested retail price.  I like the variety of different textures here – the wrapper is attached at the bottom and crinkles, and the layers of cupcake are also each slightly different.  And the color is cute for Valentine’s Day.

Sneaky inspecting the cupcake toy.  Sadly, I couldn’t get her to bite it.

I think no one was in the mood for toys because I interrupted them from this super cute nap/recharging session in the sun to take pictures.  (Sorry for the bad lighting…)

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $75 for the January 2016 (Crazy) Cat Lady Box.  That’s definitely above the cost of the box, especially when you consider the number of custom pieces by Etsy sellers (who would all charge shipping if you bought the items individually!).  If you like cats and cat stuff, this is a fun box to open every month.

What do you think of the January Cat Lady Box? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?

  1. This box is really cute and clever! I’m keeping it in mind in case I find a cat lady on my gift giving list. Your kitties look so cute lazing in the sunbeam.

  2. Where’s Madison?

    • He was upstairs. He’s a little skittish (his mother was feral and he never really got over that, I think) so I don’t try to force him to do photo shoots.

  3. I really enjoy CatLadyBox. I have gotten it for 2 months now. Your cats are ridiculously adorable–I am sure you already know that.
