This is a review of the deluxe box.

The packaging on this box is beautiful! The box itself is so sturdy and lovely that I will definitely put it to good use. There was an information sheet that was sent with this package (not pictured), listing the items within. Although it makes it a little harder to review the contents, I actually think it's really classy that they don't list the retail value of each item. I like that they let the contents speak for themselves!

This month, I was asked to select my preferences. I chose:

* Metal Color: Mix'n'Match (vs. gold or silver)
* Style: Mix'n'Match (vs. timeless/classic or trendy)
* Jewelry Type: Mix'n'Match (vs. delicate or statement)
* Preferred Accessories: necklaces, earrings, rings, sunglasses, scarves, bags, and hair accessories (not bracelets, clutches, or wallets)
* Colors Preferred: purple, cherry red, turquoise, blue, and teal
* Colors Avoided: coral, tomato red

Thus, what I was sent may be very different from what other subscribers were sent.

5th-ave-feb-scarf

Natural Abundance Blue Silk Scarf by Mantero, Italy - Value ?

This scarf is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but it's 100% silk. From what I can tell on Mantero's web site, it's also hand painted! There is curiously little information about Mantero in the internet, except to say that they have been in business for over a century, and that scarves such as this one retail for over $200!

5th-ave-feb-scarf-2

Here's an idea of how this might look on. I couldn't find a scarf like this online, and the other Mantero scarves I did see for sale were not 100% silk. It's so beautiful, I kind of want to hang it up as artwork! (Don't worry, I won't.)

5th-ave-feb-necklace
Long Gunmetal and Crystal Pendant Necklace by Kara Ross - Value ?

I couldn't find this necklace online anywhere, either! Kara Ross Necklaces range in value from $150 TO $3000, so I don't even know what to guess!

5th-ave-feb-pendant

Here's a closer look at the pendant. It's really large and heavy. The pendant hangs at about heart level. This is such an elegant piece!

5th-ave-feb-ring

Black Druzy Ring by Rivka Friedman - Value $325

This is my favorite piece in the box! It was my favorite piece even before I knew how much it is worth! I gave a larger ring size on my questionnaire because I wanted a thumb ring, and this is actually perfect! It's 18K gold clad, and I just love it.

5th-ave-feb-earrings

Peridot & CZ Satin Drop Earrings by Rivka Friendman - Value $79

This is my other favorite item in the box! I can have two. These are beautiful and remind me of calla lillies. These are no longer for sale, but the link is to the same earrings with carnelian instead of peridot, and the price is the closeout price. I wish I knew how much they originally retailed for! These are gorgeous!

5th-ave-feb-set

Sterling Silver Leaf Pendant necklace and Earring Set by Alta Vintage - Value ?

Is Google broken today? I can't even find this designer online, much less this set. In any case, it's sterling silver and really pretty. I think this is a lovely set for winter.

Verdict: Fifth Avenue Style is pretty amazing. There are only two items that I know the value of, and their combined value is over $400! That's amazing for a $159 box, considering I suspect the scarf to have originally retailed at over $200. Everything they sent me this month was really luxe and beautiful, and I plan to wear it all!

Hoping 5th AVE STYLE is checking out comments here. I had to return valentines box due to jewelry size issues. I have not yet got a customer service response to my emails-order #3000 [email protected]

I’ve just received this month box. So far it’s my favorite. The hand bag alone blew me away.

I received the same earrings in my last month box. They are absolutely gorgeous and I am getting a lot of compliments on them. The pic here doesn’t serve them any justice though. This is top quality famous brand and you should really see and touch these items to fully appreciate them.

I saved the coupon details for the February box for weeks because it was supposedly a $500 value box for newbies, and was promoted as being quite special. Thought I really wanted to become a member this month, and was sad to give it up, (for a down comforter I found on sale) until I read this review. There wasn’t one item I would have liked; just a huge disappointment.

I live in the SW, not NYC, and still have better fashion sense. Just because an item has a high price tag, or designer name, doesn’t mean it’s high fashion, or actually worth the price of admission. Honestly thought the scarf was a table cloth, until I read the review, and the jewelry reminds me of Avon circa 1970s, but heavier.

I do, however, appreciate the honest reviews and excellent pictures. Together, they help me avoid mistakes and have led me to subscriptions I really enjoy.

A box that I received was absolutely different from this one. They are all different based on preferences. I live in Manhattan for 5 years now and this sub suits me OK. It is important to be specific in your notes and preferences though. I just wish they could send boxes faster.

5th Ave is one of my favorite subs. In my view they represent the
essence of New York. Style+Quality+Value= Love it!

Tashery

Love it! My box was completely different from this one though. Mine had a purse (forget the brand, but it is real leather), a Vivienne Westwood scarf, a ring that I am definitely keeping , and earrings that I am going to gift to my MIL. Very good quality stuff.

Chelsea

Eeeek. I’m happy for y’all who like this stuff, but these boxes all seem so gaudy to me. Cheers to you if it works, but I’ll save my money for Rachel Zoe.

I’m not a fashion expert, but I left within traveling distance of NYC and I spend an unfortunate amount of time there, and this is the type of stuff that my aunt and I see on markdown at Bergdorf Goodman when we stop in there — marked down from $5000 to $700 or something. Value is whatever someone is willing to pay, whether they’re in NYC or not (though you pay a whole lot more in NYC lol).

I purchased 2 of these boxes because they seemed like they were packing in high value stuff, even if I thought the style was alittle off of mine, here’s to hoping. I have liked absolutely nothing I’ve gotten — it’s all been really flashy and …. well I agree with the reviewers who say this is not NY fashion.

I’ve been trying to sell my things on ebay. A Rivka Friedman bracelet is on the RF website for $445, but no one is selling anything above $60 for it. The Baker earrings likewise. The Mantera scarf I finally sold after two months for $20. Yes, this is ebay, but if something is in high demand, I often get good prices. But none of the stuff from 5th Avenue is getting any takers!

I was planning on subscribing to this box but the fact the company are commenting is kinda stalkerish, boarderline creepy to me. Definitely put me off subscribing.
Also the items in this box are completely gaudy, I’d be really upset at receiving any of these items!

It seems like LLB is not the only box stalking customers on MSA.

Angie

This has totally put me off subscribing!

Anna

I know, creepy eh?

strmama

Crazy! This is reason enough for me not to subscribe!

Ally

And is it just me or do some of the ragingly positive comments sound a wee bit….phony?

I mean, I’m sure there are people who love this box. But something about a few of them are just a bit too exuberant to sound real.

Jennifer

I am sorry, but I think this a terrible representation of New York style. I have lived in Manhattan for 20 years and just about to turn 40. All of my 20’s and 30’s spent here and many of those focused on having the greatest clothes, shoes etc. I do not know a single person who would ever wear any of this. These are items that one might find in some consignment store filled with women’s items of ladies in their 70’s and 80’s who are purging their closets. This is NOT meant to be cruel. These women have amazing items, but these are not synonymous with New York Style during any of the last few decades. I think this is a sneaky marketing ploy to make people think they are getting a little of New York now, but it is just not true. If this is marketed to women of my mothers age, well then great. That would be more accurate, but not because these are actually in style now. I’ve been watching these boxes to see if I would dive in. I have gotten the Luxor boxes which are FAB! Those are worth the money. Again, not saying the items are not nice and even quality, only that these are NOT current NY style and haven’t been in decades.

Angie

Totally agree! I’m genuinely shocked at the contents of this box, beyond tacky! I don’t feel like this is a true representation of New York style at all.

Reply ButtonReply

?????

Maybe it’s because of her choices, when she took the style quiz, that she received those items & when grouped together… I don’t know… I can’t even justify it! I 100% agree with you, as well!! Not only is it not NY style, it’s not LA style, it’s not Paris style, it’s not Midwest style, it’s not old style, young style… it’s just plain and simple.. not style! I’ve lived in all of those places, in my lifetime & I haven’t seen it. I would maybe say the black set, in the 80’s.. maybe.. I, too have been watching this subscription, in hopes that this would be something special, but I’m really disappointed. I feel like this stuff is something you would see in like, Burlington Coat Factory (I have the TV on..lol!!).. There seems to be a reason, you can’t find anything about these designers/pieces.. Boo! Will still continue to watch, because I really want to believe, this is going to be awesome!! xo

Ally

It kinda screams “the worst of TJ Maxx” to me.

strmama

I agree. The only thing I *might* wear is the ring. The rest of it looks like it’s meant for a much older crowd..and definitely NOT items that are representative of New York/5th Avenue style.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

Totally agree.

I completely agree with you Rebecca! I’m not seeing New York Fashion here at all. And I’m not even from New York! I’m 36 and none of this seems appropriate for my age. Definitely my mother’s age group. Not that it isn’t nice items but, definitely a misrepresentation.

Katie

I would have been thrilled with that box. Love ALL the jewelry(ring is my favorite) and the scarf is beautiful. Wish I could afford it.

Samantha

I love that scarf, the ring and the earrings. This box looks wonderful, still out of my price range right now, but fabulous.

Sarah

Ermagersh, the only thing I like in the box are the leaf pendant and earrings. The other pieces are too bold for me, but that is definitely New York Style! A well curated box!

I’m definitely a silver, delicate jewelry person so the leaf pendant and earrings are beautiful to me!! The scarf is pretty too but I would probably put clutches in my profile over scarves – I love how personalized these boxes are! Seems like it would be difficult not to love most of your items if they follow your profile… And you get to specify your ring size?! love it.
