Kiwibop Postcard Pals is a subscription service for children who are beginner readers. Each month the "postcard pals" send postcards to the child with lovely pictures and interesting facts about all kinds of different topics.

This package was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

kiwibop-jan-reindeer

The first postcard we pulled out of the envelope was this beautiful one about reindeer! Obviously reindeer are a very cool animal. Sometimes it's hard to believe they're real!

kiwibop-jan-reindeer-reverse

The reverse side of each postcard is in postcard format, but is filled with interesting facts about the topic (in this case, reindeer). This seems to be written at a level that would be great for preschool and early grade school students to read with (or to) their parents.

There is also a website adress for their online content. We took a peek and found that there is tons of information on their site about all kinds of fascinating topics! My son is really into narwhals at the moment since he learned about them at the Natural History Museum, so he had the chance to read all about them on a level he could understand. Very cool!

kiwibop-jan-wave

The second postcard is about "The Wave," a natural rock formation on the Arizona-Utah border. I had never heard of this before! Very interesting.

kiwibop-jan-street

The third postcard is about Lombard Street in San Francisco, the "crookedest street in the world." I've been down that one myself! My seven-year-old liked learning about this.

kiwibop-jan-dream

The last postcard this month is about dreams. Just looking at this picture makes me want to cuddle up with a puppy and go to sleep. My son felt the same way! We had to settle for some couch time with our big lab mix.

Verdict: I was a little skeptical about Kiwibop Postcard Pals when I first got the envelope, but now that I have seen the overall value of the subscription, I'm a fan. The postcards themselves are beautiful and the topics are interesting. The kids should have no problem reading them (with help if needed), and the level is such that they can understand and learn about these topics. The online content is vast and also contains lots of additional interesting topics. The subscription is very inexpensive, especially for what your child gets and what they can access. Plus, kids love getting mail!

What do you think of Kiwibop Postcard Pals?
