I am very excited that we are getting a primer which is not their usual item. I like Glossybox, the best out of all of the other subscription boxes. I feel that they give good quality products, unlike BoxyCharm that is the same price but fills the majority of their boxes with inflated prices of made in China products (I am always scared to use cosmetics that are made in China due to numerous incidents history of poor quality control). I hope this product lives up to its expectations.

Hey there Donna,

I am so happy to hear of your excitement to try the Emite primer! I suggest you apply the primer after applying a thin layer of face moisturizer for a smoother application.

Best,
Gabrielle from GLOSSYBOX

I’m excited for this spoiler, I love a good makeup primer. I’ve been subscribed to glossybox for one year now and have enjoyed the majority of the boxes. I pay the full price, but feel like it’s well worth it. I share anything that doesn’t work for me with friends and family and they love it!!

Hi Olivia,

Thank you for your kind words! We look forward to these post and your opinions here at the GLOSSYBOX office. We are especially pleased to hear about your excitement over the Emite primer.

Thank you for the response Gabrielle! I am loving this month’s box. That emite primer is amazing and I also really like the royal apothic creme!!

Chris

I am so so happy I did not re subscribe with that gilt coupon. I was really really close too!!! It’s like they are pissed at the people who used the coupon seriously!!! When I subscribed two years ago we got Alex and ani bracelets and full size products that blew my socks off. Then boxycharm started being amazing every month and I was like this is an easy choice. I noticed bloggers were getting better products and i just said forget it. It was difficult but if I saw that the gilt city receipiants were happy with their purchase I would have jumped back on. what do you think happened?

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

Liz I have a question! I would be VERY interested in a blog post on different boxes that we discuss products that we were sub’d and then actually purchased the full price item. I would be very curious to see what others have done. I know that some of these sizes last forever it seems, but I know that i have purchased a few out of Glossy and BB. Some items were not available for purchase because they did not ship from Europe. Just thought it would be an interesting conversation. Thanks!

I had glossy box for year and decided it wasn’t worth it to resubscribe. Although, I was thinking if they did not spend as much money on their beautiful boxes which must cost a fortune they probably could send out A decent inside of the box. I know we all love their boxes but, they could step it down just a little bit and use that to saved money to apply towards the inside of the box and I’m sure they would have a lot happier customers

I think a lot of these subs get the products for free from the manufacturers (great way to get your name/product out) and use the $ for packaging, postage and profit. Don’t you think?

Reply ButtonReply

Mary K

Absolutely. That’s how sub boxes work, pretty much. The manufacturer gives their stuff away — or at a huge loss — in order to get a foot in the door in the hope to grow their clientele. Sub boxes are just a fancy — and fun — marketing scheme. 🙂

easteregg

Agreed About The Boxes themselves. Sometimes I wrap gifts in them and the person literally grasps at the box itself. One guy (guy!) left it laying out as if it were a standalone gift. So there’s that. 🙂

Finally activated my Gilt subscription – I just ran out of my Porefessional and have been using the Smashbox one, which I don’t like as much, and have been looking for new primers to try. Trying to not have too high hopes, but for $8.75 as long as I actually get the boxes at all I think I’ll be good.

I subscribed last year for 2 months and here are the issues I had:
-I received the EXACT same cleanser in both boxes. Isn’t the point to try new things?
-Some of the products were really poor quality and some arrived in poor condition, scratched blush, lip gloss that was old and rancid.
-The products shown on my page to review both months were not the products I actually recieved.
-Customer service was extremely slow to respond (I only complained about not being able to review the products I recieved) and did not fix anything.
That being said, when the $8.75/box deal came along I took a look at what I received that I DID like, and it was worth $8.75 a box. Now, after being billed for my first month on December 1st, not being sent a December box, not hearing back from customer service for a week, and being billed for the January box I’m kicking myself for subscribing. If they had just sent a proactive “sorry we’re out of December boxes and your subscription will start in January” email and they automatically refunded me for December I’d be fine. They just seem to make a lot more mistakes than other subs and are less willing and able to fix them.

jen

When I got a damaged item I emailed them a picture and they sent out a replacement right away. Did you try that?

Reply ButtonReply

Anya

I did the same and was surprised at how quickly they sent it out. However, if they are out of December boxes entirely and waiting for additional inventory to send it to additional subscribers, that’s definitely a drag.

Tabytha

Agreed with everything! I emailed them Saying that I don’t even want the December box anymore and I’d rather my sub start in January and they emailed me back saying they can’t do that. Wtf! Then send your boxes out on time!

Welcome30 didn’t work for me. Does anyone know of another code? Thanks!!

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

It didn’t work for me either, nor did any of the codes I searched for over multiple coupon sites. (I tried more than 10 recent ones on a new account.) I’d like to sub to GlossyBox but with so many dissatisfied customers, I need a steeper discount than just what’s on Gilt City! :/

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

The code didn’t work for me either bavk when gilt first had the sale. I ended up paying 125 which is still a good deal at about 10.40 a box. Of course 8.75 would have been even better but oh well.

jj

My 2 cents: I think it’s definitely worth $12 a month. Not 21, but 12. You almost always get 2 or 3 full sized products. It’s nicer than birchbox for $10.

Hazelnutbreve

I am not all that interested in a primer but I am interested in trying more products from this brand.
I usually enjoy my Glossybox and do not mind variations. I do mind getting really tiny samples though, so i hope this is a good size, if it is going to be in everyone’s boxes.
I did not get the deep discount that many of the more recent subscribers got, so I am hoping the lower prices are not an indication of a change in quality, curation, and size of the items.

Dea

I can always use a primer. Love that this box only cost me $8.75 – so I don’t complain about GlossyBox! Still enjoying that full-size Orogold hand cream from last month.

Reply ButtonReply

Andrea

How are you able to get it for $8.75 a month? Inquiring minds want to know!

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

The gilt city promo is still available Liz mentioned it above. A lot of used a welcome30 code which brought the price down even more.

Dea

Gilt City ran a special recently – prepay for a whole year in one lump sum, and it worked out to $8.75 a box.

The Orogold hand cream is a nice, hydrating texture. Although it might smell a little “old lady” at first, at least to my long nose.

My recommendation is to wait for another spoiler or two, before you decide whether the box will be worth it to you.

Lori

Agreed and I got the had cream too and love it.

Reply ButtonReply

jen

Is that hand cream awesome? I thought about swapping for it because i the wasn’t in my box.

Teglar

I’m still waiting for my delayed December box. I ordered December 1.

Reply ButtonReply

CMB

I haven’t received mine, either, and I ordered on 12/1 as well.
I did finally get a canned response from CS, but nothing to resolve the problem. I may try to contact my credit card company to see what can be done… since it was a Rue La La voucher from September, I may not be able to get my $ back. However, my cc company allows disputes for a little while (possibly 180 days?), so it may be an option.

I’m so sorry to hear you still haven’t gotten your box! GB finally admitted (*17* days after mine shipped) that my box was lost. They barely apologized but went out of their way to make sure that I realized it was USPS’s fault and not theirs. They said they’ll be sending me a December box ASAP. That was a week ago, and I still have no word on that replacement box. I replied saying that I know the box loss was not their fault, but their taking 17 days to admit that it was lost is far too long (Birchbox will do that at 10 days) and that it’s poor customer service to tell me to just sit and wait some more. I told them that they should have given me some other options, such as giving up on it and extending my sub by a month, getting a “classic box,” getting some other items instead, etc. I told them that I knew they were out of stock of the December box as well as the eye shadow that was in every December box, so telling me I’ll get something that won’t be in stock again is like adding insult to injury.

Glossybox should have made it their beeswax to make it right, and they failed miserably. I bought through Gilt City, so I’m tied in for the year, but suffice it to say that unless they do a total 180, I definitely won’t reup next fall.

joy

Same and still no response from my email to customer service that I send last week.

I think we can all save ourselves aggravation by assuming Glossybox comes at the end of the month, like Horror BLock.

Reply ButtonReply

Jay

That had been my assumption. But then this month I was told that my December box was on “backorder” with no estimated time frame of when stock would be replenished. I am on a monthly recurring sub, so I was technically subscribed before Dec 1st. How do they “run” out of monthly stock for a pre-existing customer? Meanwhile they were still advertising and selling December boxes on their website. Those are the kind of stunts that make me wary of Glossybox.

Jen

I am actually looking forward to trying this product. I like trying out new primers.

Oh, and I love that glossybox introduces you to european brands

I do, too. I have both my favorites in FS but I will use this anyway.

I am so tired of Glossybox! They have all these featured brands on their site like Burberry, By Terry, etc. but when was the last time anyone got a Burberry item or a Sisley item or a By Terry item? The last time I got something that good was two years ago. Maybe i’m missed some boxes to notice those brands recently but I’m so over them.

Reply ButtonReply

Gabrielle

Hey there Victoria,

We are so sad to hear that you are unhappy with your contents of your GLOSSYBOX! I want to assure you we have taken on-board your feedback and I will pass this information onto our Brands team, they will now be able to review this when putting together our future monthly boxes.

We here at the GLOSSYBOX office really appreciate you letting us know how you’re feeling as this helps us to make improvements moving forward.

Best,

Gabrielle from GLOSSYBOX

I agree and I have noticed that the Glossybox in Europe is way better. They have been getting amazing items. I feel like the US has been an afterthought. The French box were all mostly leftover Items from the European boxes and in Europe they did an American box that was mostly leftovers from our boxes from this past year. Smart I guess. Another difference is that the European boxes are all SO beautiful like our French box. I have not done extensive research on it, but every single box I have seen is as beautifully decorated as our French one. I think that is interesting and I understand the cost then for each month having a different box. Just my thoughts….
