Blindbox Comics is one of the newer comic subscription boxes out there. They have 3 different purchase options - BlindBox, BlindVariant, or BlindBox + BlindVariant in month-to-month, 3, 6, or 12-month frequencies.

This is a review of the BlindBox + BlindVariant subscription!

I'm going to try something new starting with this Comic Book Subscription Box review. I'll be including the variant value from Midtown Comics!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Blindbox Comics Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - inner packages

Everything is triple protected with this box. These inner envelopes hold all of your comics, which are also bagged and boarded. It also makes unboxing much more fun, I've found!

Blindbox Comics Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - letter front

Blindbox Comics Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - letter back

The shipment comes with a letter speaking to the month's selections. I love that they also have a section for each selection where they give their thoughts on the series/issue.

Blindbox Comics Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - daredevil and symmetry

Daredevil #1 - Value $3.99

Matt Murdock returns to New York - yes, please! I've yet to start this new run, and I have yet to finish his run where he's in San Francisco - I'm guessing I should get through that run first! Does anyone recommend me skipping the San Francisco series, or do you give it a thumbs up?

Symmetry #1 - Value $3.99

This is new to me, and Blindbox is highly recommending it because of the creative team behind the title. Getting back into comics has been a bit of a trek for me, but recommendations like this have helped me discover great series - like Saga and Paper Girls!

Blindbox Comics Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - dreaming eagles and doctor mirage

Dreaming Eagles #1 - Value $3.99

I'm really interested in this Tuskegee Airmen 6-issue series! From Amazon:

Inspired by true events, Dreaming Eagles tells the story of the first African American fighter pilots to join the United States Army Air Force in WWII and whose humble beginnings in Tuskegee, Alabama propelled them into the deadly skies above Adolf Hitler's Third Reich.

The Death-Defying Doctor Mirage: Second Lives - Value $3.99

This was chosen because the first series of this run was "an underappreciated gem". It sounds like I have some reading to do before jumping into this!

Blindbox Comics Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - snowblind and bonus

Snow Blind #1 - Value $3.99

I want to read this purely for the artist style! This is a crime noir story - exciting!

Snow Blind #1 Bonus Variant - Value $10.50

This is also Snow Blind #1, but a higher value variant cover! Score!

Blindbox Comics Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - blind variant

BlindVariant - GI Joe 221 Snow Job Trading Card Black and White Variant - Value $19.99

There are 3 possible variants you could have received of GI Joe #221 this month. The color edition (limited to 1,000), the Black & White (limited to 500), or the Gold Logo edition (limited to 100)! Zach Howard randomly signed a handful of these, and I was lucky enough to pull a signed Black and White issue!

Blindbox Comics Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - autograph certificate

Here is the certificate along with his signature.

Verdict: This is my third delivery from Blindbox Comics, and I am loving it so far! For collectors, I highly recommend the BlindVariant, it's a fun chance to get some really valuable issues! I have a lot of fun unboxing this one, with the individual envelopes. While the value of most comic boxes is in the curation of each box, recently comic boxes have been going for awesome and exclusive variants and autographed copies - so it does bring the value above cost!

Elena

Looking for a good comic book subscription box to help introduce me to new comics/series. Do most of the subscription boxes send out only issue #1? What would you recommend for a relative newbie (ive read xmen comics for years, and read WW/TWD but not much else)?
Thanks!!

Both Comicboxer and Blindbox Comics send #1’s. Before these boxes I really just read TWD on a normal basis. Both are awesome options! Lately, I’ve been leaning towards Blindbox as a favorite.

I do really like the selections that they’ve included each month. Though I’m bummed I didn’t get an autograph in mine.

Noticed a typo near the top, where it says “loke”, it was where u first started getting into the review of the comics
Also on the quote it says un, wasn’t sure if that was intended…
Normally I don’t even notice typos but loke really threw me for a loop, it took me a minute to go through what it could be lol.
Also currently listening to some editing going on in the last couple days by the other member of my family so I can’t help it.
