Customer service has been on a fast and steady decline for the last few months. The bait and switch and false promises are getting old. I cancelled my sub yesterday over this issue. Of course, I am still keeping my second secret account 😉

I received horrible customer service from birchbox about this today. I was so excited about the date night box when it was revealed for Aces, that I signed up for a subscription (I had cent called mine in July).

I did not get a sample choice email the next day, when non-aces like myself usually would have and of course when I went to check it out everything was sold out.

I emailed customer service explaining that I only signed up because I loved the date night box and didn’t receive the sample choice email at all, and they offered me NO SOULUTION or anything whatsoever, just said I could purchase the date night box separately and receive my box that I was unable to choose a sample for because of their screw up.

I said no thank you, I don’t want to spend an additional price of a subscription for what I wanted in the first place and asked them to just cancel the subscription and issue a refund. They were more than happy to.

I was right to cancel in July, birchbox is huge now and has no regard for customers anymore, sadly.

When I first joined BB several years ago their customer service was amazing. Now whenever I have an issue it takes several days for a response, and very rarely do I get compensated with points for subscription or product issues.

Was totally going to get one but then I realized there’s another $5 for shipping. I think I’ll pass.

it seems weird now to spend $10 on this for sample sizes when i just spent $15 on glossyboxes with almost all full sizes… i’m starting to rethink birchbox i think.

Not to mention, you spent $15 on OLD inventory that Glossy is trying to still benefit from. Granted we don’t know if the samples in this box are old but I assume they aren’t since I haven’t seen them in BB in the past months (unlike Glossy).

i received the blow out spray in my march and september boxes last year and the cynthia rowley illuminator last april box so yeah who knows about old 🙂

True, but then with Birchbox you get $60+ per year in store credit for reviews. That makes it so so worth it in my opinion! I always save up a bunch of points, wait for a great coupon code, and grab a limited edition box or another fun splurge I wouldn’t have paid for on my own!

I think they had a certain amount set aside for sample choice like everything else. A lot of the time, everyone gets one of the samples even if it “sold out” for choice.

Sigh, I guess it makes sense, just a bit frustrating if we didn’t want to pay an additional $10 for it (the Glossybox “past boxes” deal destroyed my bank account). 😉 But here’s hoping the surprises I get since all the sample choices were sold out will be extra special! 🙂

So why would they say this was “sold out” on sample choice? It’s obviously not…

If it’s sold out, it must have gone fast. I was able to choose the date box, and mine is estimated for delivery between 2/4-2/6.

I’m also confused by everyone saying this box costs extra. I’m a subscriber (fairly new since December), and it’s not costing extra for February. It’s the box I chose to get. that’s all. no extra. ???

Leilana

They did the same exact thing last month with the Korean box, sampel choice “sold out”, but, you can purchase a box if you want to….oops, that is sold out….but, new subscribers can get it for the first month of their subsctipion. Seems this is the intentional game plan now….I did email customer service several times about it last month and kept getting the “oops, sold out” run-around….after the 3rd time of being told it was sold out and I couldn’t receive it I just signed up for a new freaking subscription….very irritating game that I didn’t expect from Birchbox!

Huh. So when I went to make my selection for sample choice and it said this was “sold out,” they were just blatantly lying? I’ve never been disappointed in Birchbox’s customer service until today.

Jen

That is crap. I’d email them and ask about it. Do they think we are stupid? I’d hope not.

The only thing I want to try in this box is the mud mask. I’ve gotten everything else.
