The code on Birchbox is KBEAUTY16 if you want to join and get this box.

Otherwise try emailing BB or purchasing it for $10 in the store.

My December box is up 🙂

I just joined because that curated box looks amazing and I want it. I also want the lipstain that is one of the three main samples. I can’t figure out how to set it as my choice or how to get the curated box!!! Help please.

Rebecca

I chose the curated box and my daughter got the Eyeko, which if you can recall correctly they sent out this year already. They said that everyone would receive the Eyeko and then when it did not show up, I contacted them and they said their shipment never came in…hmmm. I agree BB does a great job with Customer Service though. They are VERY kind if you are. Saw that you can buy the curated for $10 if you are a subscriber, so I should have done something differently. Anyhow, looking forward to the curated box.

I was wondering if anyone ever wins any of the giveaways Birchbox does, like when they did the Birchbox list giveaway. They don’t do them often, but when they do, I never hear anything about any winners when they’re over. Anyone else?

Reply ButtonReply

Jocelyn

Per the rules on their giveaway, after that Say Yes! Promo they did this past July, I have emailed them twice for the winners list (once in August and once in October) AND sent a written request with a self addressed stamped envelope enclosed by certified mail (since I never heard back and they signed for the request in November) and I have NOT received a single reply from them by either method. So my guess is no, no one wins and it’s all BS. Who knows. It’s federal law to release the winners names upon request so I’m shocked they didn’t respond.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

Wow.. That makes me wonder if it’s not just a marketing scheme… I never expect to win anything from things like that, but I have thought it’s weird that they never made a big deal, or any deal at all, out of any of the winners, or even announced some of the things people won- something. That’s nuts they never responded to you after all that!

Kimberley

Tried to purchase recovery skin care kit. Out all ready!!!!only first day of email!!! Geezzzz

Ragan

The skin recovery kit has been in the Birchbox shop for a few weeks. I think after my review was posted here the other day, a lot of people bought it, which may be one reason why it sold out.

The curated box looks good to me!

I have to say, that after getting my December box, I was so frustrated and just felt crushed. Tiny,Tiny samples, the only thing I liked was the box. The samples are to small too even use for stocking stuffers. This was the first time that I was actually disappointed with Birchbox, so I am hanging in there for one more month, and hoping that with my birthday in January that I will be Blessed again, and at least this way I can use my points.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

Agreed. I’ve been a subscriber since August – so still kind of new – but have reviewed and purchased enough to be an Ace. I was pretty saddened not by the content but by the sample sizes this month. I just upgraded to an annual subscription, too, last month 🙁 It’s almost like they got me locked in, then slipped this disappointing box in there. Everything is miniscule. I don’t expect five deluxe sized samples, but at least give me one!

Rookala

Yes, December COULD have been a great holiday box, but you’re right, it was as flat as last New Years’ opened bottle of leftover champagne.

mimi

Not sure if I’ll go with the curated box or just the Tony Moly and 4 surprises.

Hi Liz and MSA readers! I’m really confused! January will be my third month of receiving birchbox. This is the first time I’ve noticed that I can pick a sample, or go with the curated box. What exactly does this mean? Will they add the sample I pick to the normal box? Do I pick the sample and they send me completely different products than the curated box? I’m so confused! Any clarity you (or your readers!) can provide on this subject would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Tonya Lamoureux

Thanks ladies! Your reply’s helped make it so much more clear!

Now… I can’t decide what to do! Lol The curated box already has two of the options I could pick for add-ons, but a lot of you seem to not like their custom boxes. I’ve been very happy with the curated boxes thus far and am not sure I want to risk it!

The curated box seems pretty good this month, but I have enough masks to last me a while from BB and other subscription boxes.

Decisions… Good thing I have until the 28th!

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley

You can either pick one of the samples and receive it and 4 mystery items or you can pick the curated box. I typically pick a sample and wait anxiously to find out what else I’m getting unless I really love everything in the curated box. Hope this helps!

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

They will send you and email with a link.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

I wouldn’t wait for Birchbox to e-mail you about sample choice. Instead, I would sign up for e-mails from this site because some months I either haven’t gotten the BB e-mail telling me I could go choose, or I got it way later than I found out about it from MSA, meaning I could have missed out on a sample choice. It’ll be on 12/29 unless you are an Ace or you have a successful referral by the deadline they mentioned.

Ragan

Or, on sample choice day, you can go to their site and along the top there is a link that says “your box.” You can choose to customize your box from there. I’ve done this for two months because, for some reason, my account gets the email really late, even though I’m an Ace.

Stephanie

*an email ** typo 🙂

Brooke

If you do nothing, they select ~5 samples for you based on your profile.

If you select one sample, they add ~4 more for you based on your profile.

If you select the curated box, you get exactly what you see and they don’t add any other samples.

Barbara

I think I will go for the curated box this month ! Nothing really appeal to me…But I would like to try the mask and the peeling paquets.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

I really like the curated box, but after the Target box, the Amazon box, last month’s Glossybox (December’s box is MIA), and a few months of Birchbox, I feel like I’m overloaded on facial care! I don’t need more mascara, so I think I’m going to go for the TonyMoly sample and be surprised by the rest.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

Target boxes* (I think I have bought three now, and I think all have included facial skincare items)

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

Remember when Birchbox told us last January to save all our boxes for the year? Have they ever done anything since then that told us why or what was going on with that? Or did they just say it and then never do anything with it?

Reply ButtonReply

Lauren

I asked Birchbox about that the other day and she said keep hanging on to them. They have a surprise announcement shortly.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

Thank you!!

Cindy

Was wondering the same thing. Never heard another thing about it!

Reply ButtonReply

Ashlyn

I’m new to bb- when can we select our sample ? It won’t let me. Plus I never got mine from the cyber monday sale .. Is that normal?

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

Also, if you’re still missing something from the Cyber Monday sale, I’d get on a chat with Birchbox (it’s faster than waiting for an e-mail response, which for me seems to take 2-3 days). They’re pretty good about making things right.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

The others are correct – it’s 12/28 for Aces or those who have successful referrals and 12/29 for everyone else. It’s not open yet – this is just a preview. I would sign up for e-mails from this site because some months I either haven’t gotten the BB e-mail telling me I could go choose, or I got it way later than I found out about it from MSA, meaning I could have missed out on a sample choice. In other words, don’t wait for the e-mail from BB if you hear that sample choice is open to you from MSA 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Tierney

I’m often unable to choose a sample. It’s hit-or-miss. Even when I refer someone, I don’t get the one-day early option.

Reply ButtonReply

Whitney

You’ll be able to select your sample on Dec 29 (or Dec 28 if you referred people or are an Ace).

Reply ButtonReply

Rachel

I’m going curated on 1 account and Eyeko on the other, thereby ensuring I get everything on offer! Pretty slick how they did that! I’m beyond excited for all, Korean beauty is my latest obsession. And I totally agree that this style of video is so much better than the usual! And I already sneaked one of the Recovery Skincare pillow pack kits in as an add on…it was just sitting there, so lonely!

Reply ButtonReply

May

I like the video this month. To the point and you don’t need sound. I usually watch them at work and it’s much easier w/o sound.

Reply ButtonReply

Kiales

Manduka is supposed to be the Cadillac of yoga mats…. I never know how to feel about the add-ons though haha.

Reply ButtonReply

Kiales

Okay, okay, you’ve convinced me 😉

Thanks!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Kimberly

It is!! I have the crazy thick one (Black Mat PRO, 6mm I think?) and it is honestly the best mat I’ve ever had. The only drawback is that it’s hard to travel with, and I travel a lot for work. Love my mat so much, I’m actually thinking about getting this thinner version just for travel!

But yeah – their mats are incredible. If you tend to only visit local studios or practice at home and are ok with the investment, definitely go for one of the PRO mats.

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

I have the travel mat and I love it. Never leave home without it. It rolls up really small or you can fold it in fourths or whatever and it fits into a suitcase nicely. Has the same great grip as the other manduka mats. You won’t be disappointed.

Beth

I’ll probably go for the Eyeko, or maybe the curated box. I’m not especially excited about either (especially since I already reviewed the primer back in August), but they’re not BAD options. I like that the curated box has seven items to review (six for me), but I kind of love gambling on my other 4+ items by choosing one sample! Ehhhh decisions!

Reply ButtonReply

Kay

Hi Liz, if you use the code for Baggu between now and 12/30, do we get December box or January box?

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

I know that at least as of today if you sign up for a subscription your first box will be the December box. Then you’ll get to pick your sample choice (or curated box) for January. Hope that helps!

Reply ButtonReply

Flubs

Hey Liz! Do you know if we wait until sign-ups pick up for January, does that not mean we get to choose a sample? Also, is the curated box more expensive than the regular box?

Kay

I see. I wanted to sign up for second account, but I guess I will wait for another promo as I don’t want December box again 🙂 Thanks!

Araceli

Cancelling! Already cancelled ipsy. My Novembers Birchbox was not good and this doesn’t look good to me either. I might resub sometime in spring or summer. I like getting spf face creams:)

Reply ButtonReply

nana

The curated box looks great. Alas, I’m starting a git subscription in January, so it’ll be the “random box of junk” for me. Alas, the last one of those I got was pretty good.

Reply ButtonReply

joy

Curated it is! I was excited about the lip stain and the rest of the box looks great and if you review all 7 items and share your box on Twitter you’ll get a total of 80 points, so almost enough to make a $10 purchase. Score!

Reply ButtonReply

Natalie

I’m also going for curated? just wanted to let you know there will be 6 items to review, not 7. Still great as with reviews and sharing you can get 70 points. I just didn’t want you to be disappointed once review time comes.

Reply ButtonReply

joy

Ah, I saw the two packets and thought that they were two different products instead of two of the same.

Sara

I haven’t heard of half the brands in the curated box, it looks exciting, I’ll pick that. I might add the duck bag too, haven’t been able to swap for it.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

The curated box looks great! I’m glad after the pretty disappointing box I am getting this month..

Reply ButtonReply

May

I’m excited for the curated box. I have heard soo much about K beauty products but don’t know much about them so it will be fun to try. I also love masks so it’s a win win for me.
