I’m so excited that I actually squealed with delight.

I love to read, my 3 month subscription just ended! I wish they put more books in. I would’ve been happy to have a new book

Love the spoiler! I am a huge fan of Mindy and her first book, I’ve heard this one is even better. I was at Costco the other day and resisted the urge to buy it because I knew it would be coming in psmh!! Also, I loooove when jewelry is included in the boxes!!

I love Mindy but I really don’t need a book. A signed book would be cool but otherwise I’d rather then give me something way cooler in place of the cost if the book….

Liz

I’m really excited about this! I was intending to buy the book anyways.

Popsugar typically releases only one spoiler, correct?

Carleigh

Normally I wince when a book is included, but I love Mindy so much!

Waaaaaaaait a minute! Just because people don’t want to get a book in PSMH boxes, doesn’t mean we don’t like to read! Almost all of the comments I’ve read to this effect have said that they’re simply picky about what they choose to read.

I prefer to not get books via PSMH because they’re not typically of the genres I prefer. Also- I’ll choose my own books, tyvm.

Having said that, we all need to chill out about one spoiler we don’t like. I don’t think I’ve ever received a box in which I loved every single item. It’s not realistic. I’m sure there will be other items we enjoy in the box.

Relax, guys! 😀

I loooove receiving books in my Popsugar! I know everyone isn’t with me on that but I think reading is wonderful and important. Books fit well in a lifestyle box, in my opinion. That alone is tempting me back to Popsugar after several months off! 🙂

Would love it if they had an option to download as an ebook!

Marna

I agree for the ebook option. I don’t read actual books anymore as I lost an entire room to them. I much prefer the ebook ability.

As for those that are worried about it not being to their tastes. It could open up a whole new area for you to explore.

Mindy wrote one of my favorite episodes on “The Office” – the one where Michael burns his foot in the morning on a George Foreman grill because he wants to wake up to the smell of bacon – LOLOLOL!!!!!! LOVE that episode! She’s really intelligent – I think she went to Dartmouth University. To you guys that do like her, you should check out her show, “The Mindy Project” – it’s in a similar vein to “New Girl” and those type comedies – very witty, very smart, very heartwarming – and Chris Messina who plays her love interest is AMAZING! Plus, she has a lot of guest stars on her show – I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt guested on the 1st episode of season 4, which is just all kinds of perfect! Sorry for getting carried away – I just love her and her show – it’s so underrated – and I wish more people would give it a chance! 🙂

I’m kinda looking forward to her book. I watched The Office a few times years ago, but haven’t ever watched her new show.
I don’t read all that often, but I might have to read this one. And besides, I think its nice to get books every now and then. I am kinda surprised that we’re getting another book already since we just had one in June.

But I don’t see why some people are so mad and/or upset about getting a book. There isn’t anything anyone could ever include in a box that will please everyone (well maybe some cold hard cash would please everyone). That’s part of the risk/fun of these sub boxes, you never know what you’re going to get. Unless you’re really easy to please, you’re not going to love everything. But things that aren’t quite your “taste”, can be swapped, gifted, donated, etc. I don’t ever use brow products so I personally wasn’t excited for the Too Faced Brow Kit for September, but that’s part of it. I have specific makeup products that I use and don’t use, but I don’s expect Popsugar to cater to me. I think most boxes do their best to cater to most preferences (pierced/not pierced, gold/silver, etc). This box can’t cater to everyone’s reading preferences just like it can’t cater to everyone’s decorating or taste or color preferences either. I do have to agree with one comment about possibly asking people if they have a preference for kindle/downloadable e-books vs real books though.

You’ve GOT to watch her new show (in it’s 4th season) – it’s really underrated and the writing is amazing! She also has some amazing guest stars on it – Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Franco, Seth Rogen, etc. Please at least watch the first 2 seasons and see how you like it. It starts out a bit slow – the 1st half of Season 1 is a little shaky as they were still trying to figure what characters worked and who didn’t, but after that, it’s pretty smooth sailing and so funny! It’s just a really intelligent comedy with a really strong female character, so if you do get some time, check it out! P.S. I hope I didn’t sound too pushy! I think I just get too excited about things, LOL! 🙂

I’ll have to try to remember to check her show out, or at least see if I can catch a few episodes online. I watched The Office a few times years ago and enjoyed it.
Love your enthusiasm 🙂 – I was the same way when I was trying to get my best friend to watch Parenthood bc I loved it so much.

(sorry if this is a duplicate comment – I think I might have forgot to hit “submit comment” before… not sure)

Meh. I love reading but I get all my books from the library via overdrive on my Kindle. Not only is it free, but I can keep multiple books on one device. Not worth it to me to buy paper versions anymore! Especially as a bus commuter. 🙂

This book is at the top of my wish list but PSMH us on my never-buy-again list so I’m torn. But based on comments it sounds like quite a few will end up in swaps so maybe I will just wait and see…and be able to continue with my screw-you-PSMH attitude.

Reply ButtonReply

Rose

Haha, we can swap! I just don’t like her at all.

Reply ButtonReply

nana

If all you want is the book, I’m sure you’ll have no problem swapping for it. Even people who want to read it may put it up as used item after they are done.

I don’t read books that aren’t on my Kindle, but I was actually pretty happy about this one! I’m glad it looks to be a hardcover too! I can’t wait to see what else is in the box. Maybe some cozy socks or something comfy for bumming around the house in 🙂

Love this, it’s going to be great to read by the fire place, snuggled with a blanket and a Latte’. Can’t wait. Thanks Liz.

For those unfamiliar with Mindy Kaling and her work, here is an excerpt from the book that Glamour mag featured on their website. I find her smart, funny and honest.

Thanks for sharing that link- I love Mindy but still was uncertain if I wanted to read her book but that was a great essay. Much more excited now.

I bought this book as soon as it came out. I ♡ Mindy! I don’t need an extra copy unless I get the signed copy. 🙂

In response to another comment about nobody reading anymore… I love to read. I always have my nose buried in a book or magazine. I just really don’t care for Mindy Kaling.

I don’t want a book either in a subscription box. If I did, I would subscribe to a book of the month club or something to where I would expect a book . I spend most of my time reading on MSA. With my lifestyle I don’t have much time for reading anything else.

Reply ButtonReply

Myrna

I don’t know her and not a fan of this type of books :(… I’ll be selling it for half of the cost. I hope rest of the box gets better
