Both are BOMC, which stands for Book of the Month Club. BOMC has been around for more than 60 years.. but they’ve never sold used books before. Are these new old stock? ( Because the company has recently reorganized).

Hi Laura,
BOMC is completely different from me, I actually didn’t even know they existed.
What separates me from BOMC is that I include a few bookish items that go along with the book, along with a second-hand book.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me!

This is a different subscription box company with a very similar name. I’m guessing that’s why the go by BOTM instead of Book of the Month. Hope that clarifies!

Well, it doesn’t give much of a feel for the types of books we’d get. I do LOVE that they send a second hand book! I’m an actual book reader when I find the time. My mom reads more than anyone I know, and she swears by her Kindle. I just can’t do it. I love holding a book, smelling it, checking the top of it periodically to see how far I’ve got (really, if I have time to finish before putting it down), a quality bookshelf (meaning books, not building material lol), loaning a book to someone, having someone spark a conversation because they’ve read the same book, etc. Books can be read so many times, it seems a waste to buy brand new. When I have books on my wish list, I always put, “Buy used whenever possible.” I don’t mind at all. Does anyone else feel this way?
I guess this means I’d love a second hand book box. Liz, are there any out there?

Hi! The book for October is a YA historical fiction that will be coming out in October just before the box is shipped. There will be a few bookish items to go along with it, and then I include a second-hand book too! If you have any more questions, or suggestions, please reach out to me.

Rowsdower, I also love used books. I generally only read a book once, so I see no point in buying books [or most movies] new. Most of my books are used from book stores, friends of the library sales, and little free library boxes that people have. While I do love Overdrive for free library checkouts of audiobooks and ebooks, I feel like paperbacks are easier and more enjoyable to read [and smell!].

Bookcase (bookcase.co) sends second hand books. I was not happy with my subscription with them when the first month there was writing in one of my books. The next month they sent an extra book for a total of four books. I had read three of the four books already. I cancelled my subscription. I don’t mind used books at all, but can buy them for $1 at my library so don’t like spending more then I might for some new books on a used book subscription.

This one is a monthly used books subscription: http://www.mybookcase.co/
I signed up and asked for YA books for my daughter (the three books/month plan). Our first box was skewed a little young but I emailed them and I’m hoping next month will be better.
