For current or former subscribers:
I just signed up for the first time and haven’t received my first box yet, it will be the August box, but I received a link to review the items and there are 6 items but only 3 of the 6 are the same items from Liz’s August review. Is there usually that level of variance as to what they send out to different subscribers? Also, is it unusual to have 6 items instead of 5? The list they sent for review looks nicer than the box Liz reviewed for August, no eyelash primer or crappy lip balm and Benefit They’re Real mascara, City Cosmetics Eye Serum (full size is $97!) and a Doucce Kabuki brush in their place.

Hey there Joy,

I want to thank you for taking the time to comment about GLOSSYBOX!

I do apologize for any confusion you are experiencing regarding your subscription. Each box should contain 5 items that match the inserted product card. There are several variations of our GLOSSYBOXES each month. The version received is based on factors such as beauty profile, age, location, sign-up date, and GWP bonus items.

Best,

Gabrielle from GLOSSYBOX

Yes, variations are normal. They started having variations Feb of this year. If you click on Last Glossybox (on Glossybox’s website), it shows the August box with all of the possible items. Every month (since Feb 2015) has had the same number of possible items. Of those possible items you recieve 5. I have been told that it depends both on your profile answers, which block of mailings your box is in, and on your location as to which items you will receive.

I have 3 more months before I get a free box, and if they do not improve I am done. At least the box is reusable for gifting, since I do not buy any paper wrapping products.

Hey Wendy,

I am sorry to hear you are not pleased with GLOSSYBOX. Stay tuned, as we have a specialty box for the month of October. You wont want to miss it!

Au revoir,

Gabrielle from GLOSSYBOX

I am very tempted by this…I did cancel my GlossyBox account in August because the boxes were just crap. The lady on the phone was very nice and told me that I’ll be back by October maybe September…she said October is going to be good. And September has had crazy incentives which is why I think she mentioned this month. Anyways…I couldn’t keep this to myself any longer!

I think, sadly, I’m stuck…oh wow..I’ve now subscribed to enough boxes that I am hoping I’m confused but don’t think I am. I think I caved within last 10 days and subscribed because they dangled that whole free box thing. UGH!!! Guess I need to see how long I did the sub for if it was this box. Can’t remember if they wanted anything more for the ‘extra’ box other than just a month to month sub or not. Le sigh. Yeah, yeah..first world problems over here…

Lol you’re hilarious and I resemble your comment. Also I think anyone on this site is mostly FWP people ? good luck it was a month to month

After comparing Glossybox and Beautydix, I switched to Beautyfix. There is much more value and excitement there. Glossybox has been so disappointing the past year that I can no longer justify the expense.

Speaking of forum since I have no other outlet for discussion, it’s so cool people who are close to ea meet and do swaps. Is there a thread like ‘Seeking other Sub Addicts in XYZ city’ is at so we can see if there’s anyone (or more!) in our neck of the woods. Sigh, with me being cough..a bit older I’d love it even more if they were + or – 7 yrs of my age. However, I genuinely enjoy people of all ages so that’s not a true stipulation. Just getting REAL self conscious about my age & appearance.

There is not such a thread yet on forum.mysubscriptionaddiction.com, but everyone is welcome and you could certainly start this thread!

Liz- I posted a long discussion of my thoughts about Glossybox, but I don’t see it. Is it just me?

Can anyone else see my posts? Is anyone seeing this post? This has been happening a lot lately and its really frustrating. 🙁

Hi Tamara,

I think I figured out what’s going on with your comments. We have a flag list of swear/offensive words that prevent comments from being posted without approval, and I couldn’t figure out why that was impacting your comments – but I think it is because of your email address. (Nothing offensive on your end – just a technicality). Sorry! I’ll try to figure out a solution so your comments are auto approved.

Ahhhhhh… I think understanding dawns.

Thank you for working on this for me. 🙂

Comparing Glossybox now to a year ago – it’s definitely gone downhill. It’s still good enough for me to hang on hoping for improvements (for now) but I will stay month to month.

I love glossy box! As opposed to some of the reviews, I think the quality and mix of each box is excellent…and nearly everything is full size! I, at the minimum, find at least one product each month that I LOVE. To me, it is well worth the $21 per month when I can spend that in a heartbeat at Sephora or Target!

Hey CR,

Thank you for your kind words! We really enjoyed reading your post and hearing your opinion here at the GLOSSYBOX office.

Glossybox was my first introduction to subscription boxes. I signed up for a yearly sub on Black Friday 2013. I was highly impressed with the quality/value. For the most part, I was satisfied. Once my sub was up I stayed on for a few more months but the quality was lacking… I never looked back. GB should go back to the way they were. I’ll never sub again until there is alot of improvement.

I recently resubscribed to Glossybox, and I haven’t been wowed. Boxycharm, Birchbox, and BeautyFix are much, much better.

I am month-to-month, and am not sure I will keep it much longer.

Good lord…. I was gonna order but after review after review of people disappointed no way. Very valid about Julep; if we want Julep, we’d order the julep sub. Maybe GlossyBox should start listening to their current customers as new interest is being diverted! I even researched reviewed back to 2013 on here…. and yes more and ore people get more and more disappointed. Glad i took 20 min to see the trend and save $200!

The only way I’d suggest getting a subscription is with a decent discount. A 20% discount means you’re paying $16.80/box, which isn’t too bad. That’s only a dollar more than Sample Society/Allure Beauty Box.

Glossybox used to be great, but it’s been super disappointing lately. The brands and products are not what they used to be. But you do get a lot of full sizes (not all, but more than half, usually.) And it’s always possible that they could get better.

Keep in mind that it’s not customizable. They ask you to fill out a profile, but that’s just for their own info. There has been some variation from box to box (there didn’t use to be), but it’s not extreme and what they send you is random.

Then there’s always that awesome box itself. It seems silly, but I really like the box. So handy for storage. 😀

Oh my! So I’ve been seriously considering GlossyBox, and this code kind of made me want to go ahead with an annual sub, but now these comments have me nervous 🙁

Does anyone love GlossyBox??

Justme

It used to be my favorite sub. It was my first sub, actually. Like others have said, it used to be awesome with little to no variations. This year, it’s gone down in quality and value. I think it’s extremely crappy business practice to make a one time gift box $25 (used to be $15) when the monthly sub is $21. And then they got rid of the 3 month sub without any notice. I’m just really disappointed. I used to recommend them to friends and family and I would buy gift boxes. No more. The two good boxes this year where the Valentine’s Day box and April box (although there were some sub par variations). They need to do more collabs like they did with bergdorf goodman And harper’s bazaar and more special edition themes like the UK has been getting. I’m definitely waiting for a good spoiler before I sub again.

I think it used to be a fave but looks like has gone downhill, I signed up for beauty fix for $12.48 there supposed to send more full size items ☺️?

I used to love Glossybox but the quality has gotten so bad in the last few months. They’ve been sending out really questionable or low-quality brands, made in china stuff, etc.

I ADORE glossybox! I had the monthly sub, and as soon as I saw the code, I went and got the annual. Now I love it even more because it costs less! 🙂
I subscribe to other boxes as well, but all on a monthly basis. I figure I need to check them out for a few months before I commit. I’ve already canceled a couple.

Me too. I was just about to hit submit and then I was like…Aw better not after reading these!

Don’t do it; Glossy sucks now. I’m sad I wasted my money.

I’ve noticed a difference in brands in the past year. They had more fun and different brands last year. As much I’m okay with Julep, I would prefer not to see julep in a glossybox or any other box. I would rather Julep stick to the Julep boxes

I cant pass this one up – As silly as this sounds I miss the box itself.

rosalita

the code i got was LABOR20, my yearly ran out and i was waiting for the labor day code to re-sub

I had glossy box for about 4 months a year ago and then after being disappointed by almost every box I cancelled. It just doesn’t seem to deliver the same high quality samples and products it did when it first began. Even with a coupon, I think I ‘ll pass.

Sara

I’d never get an annual subscription, their boxes are too hit and miss. Maybe if they were $10 a box, but wouldn’t risk it.
