The Book Worm Box Subscription Review – July 2015 Kyland

Kyland by Mia Sheridan - Retail Value $12.99 (On Amazon for $11.66)

Book Summary from Amazon:

Tenleigh Falyn struggles each day to survive in a small, poverty-stricken, coal mining town where she lives with her sister and mentally ill mother. Her dream of winning the college scholarship given to one student by the local coal company and escaping the harshness of her life, keeps her going.

Kyland Barrett lives in the hills, too, and has worked tirelessly--through near starvation, through deep loneliness, against all odds--to win the Tyton Coal Scholarship and leave the town that is full of so much pain.

They're both determined not to form any attachments, but one moment changes everything. What happens when only one person gets to win? When only one person gets to leave? And what happens to the one left behind?

Kyland is a story of desperation and hope, loss and sacrifice, pain and forgiveness, but ultimately, a story of deep and unending love.

The Book Worm Box Subscription Review – July 2015 Hearts

Hearts of Fire by L.H. Cosway - Value $13.99

Book Summary from Amazon:

The Circus Spektakulär is proud to present Jack McCabe: Fire-breather, knife-thrower, risk-taker. My house burned down when I was just a boy, robbing me of both my parents. Now I breathe fire, eat the poison that almost killed me. Crowds come to see me night after night. Men for the spectacle, women for the thrill. I’m an oddity to be stared at and desired. With each flame I spit, I risk my life. I wear scars on my body that will never go away, but the scars inside my head are far more difficult to overlook. My brother doesn’t know me, and if I have it my way he never will. Life was going exactly the way I’d planned until Lille came along. She wanted to run away with the circus, have an adventure, but this world was never meant for her. I try to keep her safe, because she doesn’t know the dangers that are out here on the road. She doesn’t know the monsters that lurk behind the bright lights of the ring. In truth, I could be considered one of them. We were fashioned from different cloths, never intended to mix. So I watch her. I try not to touch, even when her eyes invite me. Join us in the Spiegeltent and let us give you a show. Allow my Lille to draw a picture for you in paint and sweat and skin. The truest love is always the hardest to let in.

The Book Worm Box Subscription Review – July 2015 Swag

This box also comes with book swag each month - some signed bookmarks, a pen, wristband, and Book Worm Box Post-Its!

Verdict: I'd recommend this box if you're looking for a signed books and giving back with your purchase. It definitely isn't going to be a high-value box, but I'm enjoying it. I think one way they could possibly add more value to the box is by adding a few free e-books in as well. Maybe we'll see that in future boxes!

It’s interesting to read what books are included.

I love The Bookworm Box!!! I consider it a well-valued box because they are signed books. Those (most of the time) tend to be worth more than regular books, so I don’t know that putting the Amazon price would be an accurate value. I have never thought that one of the boxes I purchased wasn’t worth the money!!! And, unless authors donate eBooks to The Bookworm Box, I seriously doubt they will become a standard feature. I do know this month they stuck audiobook copies of Grey in 50 random boxes (per their Facebook post), so there is always the potential for a little something extra.

I love this subscription! I haven’t heard of it until reading your review but who wouldn’t love the idea of having a collection of books all signed by the authors!? It’s also great that they give to charities every month so it makes up for the fact that I’m not really getting my money back in goods. $40 is a bit much for me personally but I’m seriously considering subscribing. Maybe I can skip a month and do every other? If so, I’m sold!
