Each box comes with a card detailing the items included.

Horror Block Subscription Box Review – July 2015 - T-Shirts

American Werewolf T-Shirt - Value $10?

Bonus T-Shirt - Value $10?

This month was a 'bonus' shirt month - each box included a mystery bonus shirt from a past Classic or Arcade block. The bonus shirt I got was from the Simon Pegg curated Classic Block from March 2015. I can see how it would be fun to receive a shirt from other blocks, but for me - it was always going to be a shirt that I already own. The main shirt is an American Werewolf in Paris t-shirt. The graphic is very large - and it's a cool illustration.

Horror Block Subscription Box Review – July 2015 - Spike

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Titans Vinyl Figure – Spike – Value $13 on Amazon

The value is from a similar Spike Titan - but this is an exclusive variant with blood splatter. We received the same Titan from the July 2015 Classic Block, with a different, exclusive, outfit. Different variants are always a big deal for collectors - so this is cool to see more and more exclusive variants in boxes.

Horror Block Subscription Box Review – July 2015 - Dvd and Decal

Choose Their Kill Season 1 - Value $10?

This is a Horror Block exclusive. I'm never excited to get DVD's in boxes, but then I read the details of the show, and it seems interesting - and definitely worth trying. Choose Their Kill allows you to do just that, choose how it's character die. Definitely worth giving it a go.

The Walking Dead Car Decal - Value $5?

This is an officially licensed decal, but I can only find it listed on eBay from around $5 a piece - so I think it's no longer for sale. Liz and I love the Walking Dead show (and I love the comics even more!), and this just gave me a subtle reminder that the spinoff series starts this month! Time is flying!

Horror Block Subscription Box Review – July 2015 - August Rue Morgue

August Rue Morgue - Value $9.95

As always, the latest Rue Morgue is also included in the box. Always worth flipping through for me.

Verdict: As always, the box comes in over value, which is great. From an items standpoint, this month is wide off the mark for me - but I'm sure a lot of people will love it, if I was a big Buffy fan, an exclusive Titan would be all I would need to be happy with the box!

What did you think of July's Horror Block?

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I’m trying to navigate through a purchase and many things are frustrating. Here are two more:
If you go month-to-month to get the 10% discount code MSA offers, you can’t pay through PayPal.
If you want to use that MSA10 code, you don’t get the welcome box.
I’ve never been so frustrated trying to treat myself. 🙁 Horror Block, I hope you read these comments.

Shipping over a year is $114.00!!! I almost choked! Never mind, Horror Block, never mind.

Loretta, how do you justify it?

OMG, because I never did the math before. lol

Seriously though, most of the time HB is my absolute favorite sub box. The fact that I was disappointed this month was kind of a shock to me. I’ve always loved virtually every item they send me. When you add up the value of the items and the shipping it comes pretty close. And they are often things that I never knew existed so I didn’t know I even wanted them. 🙂

It’s like a horror themed present every month!

This is listed on any length sub option:
** Promo codes are not accepted for multi-month subscriptions.**
That’s really a bummer! I was almost going to jump on a full year. The extra 10% would’ve brought the monthly cost down to $14.39 / month (not including shipping).

This was my first time getting the Horror Block and the main reason I did was because of the Buffy item that was announced. I love classic horror but from the images I saw of past boxes I wasn’t sure I would like it. I was kind of disapointed with this box, not really what I was expecting. I liked the Spike titan just wished it was a different character since I subscribe to the Classic Block as well. My extra shirt was a Doctor Who shirt which is awesome. Also liked the Walking Dead decal and can’t wait to put it on my car. Not to sure about the DVD but I will give it a try. Overall I liked some of the items in the box but was a little underwhelmed with it all. I don’t think I will continue in getting this subscription. Probably will try the Comic Block but will stick with the classic.

Received my box today and while it was not my top box I’ve gotten from Classic or Horror it was still decent. the extra shirt i got was the Batman Vs. Superman shirt, luckily didn’t have it already.

I like the Spike figure from Horror Block more than the Classic Block variant, but I can’t help but wish one of them had been a different Buffy character.

I have to say this was the first time I was very disappointed in my Horror Block. The second shirt did not feel like a bonus shirt but like filler because they didn’t have anything else to send. Not only was the shirt a duplicate for those of us who subscribe to other blocks but it was not even horror related.

And while variant figures can be cool, having two that are virtually identical isn’t. I would much preferred to have gotten a different character such as Buffy or Angel and/or a variant of them rather than a second Spike.

Loved the Walking Dead decal however. And I understand some people got American Werewolf in London rather than Paris.

Bottom line, this box felt like a re-run. 🙁
