New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Box

New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great. (FYI – this is a different subscription from the QVC New Beauty Test Tube which is no longer shipping).

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Info

New Beauty Test Tube recently revamped their info booklet format. Now they feature 3 different bloggers for each shipment. (And I was selected to be one of the bloggers for this box! I still can't get over seeing the MSA logo in print!) Throughout the booklet, each blogger explains why they like one of the items:

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Info 2

I was sent the samples in advance and gave quotes on my favorite ones.

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Glamglow

GlamGlow YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment – .5 oz Value $19

This mask is phthalate, paraben and sulfate free – and it works in just 10 minutes. It’s also one of those masks that tightens and tingles as it dries, so you get that reassuring feeling that it is doing something! I like this mask for making my skin feel cleaner and smoother – it does a great job of cleaning pores.

Grande Mascara Lash Boosting Formula - size? Value $5?

I'm guessing on the value of this mascara sample since there is no size listed on the sample. This mascara is designed with "an exclusive peptide formula to promote longer, thicker and more dramatic lashes." I'm not sure if this sample will be enough to see any major lash differences over time, but for day-to-day use, I like the formula. (It's not replacing my current tarte favorite though!)

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Brow

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil - Value $12

This is one of my favorite beauty subscription box discoveries of all time - I love this eyebrow pencil! (And pretty much anything IT Cosmetics makes too). Depending on how light or hard you apply the pencil, you can get it to match many different eyebrow shades. (Plus this travel size version lasts forever).

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Ojon

Balanced Guru Style Me Roots to Ends Hair Oil - .5 oz Value $9.50

Balanced Guru is another favorite brand of mine - both for their oils and sprays. This hair oil is really lightweight - but I still only needed a drop or two. This is designed to manage curls, frizz and flyaways. I just used it on the ends of my hair, but you can also massage it from roots to ends as the name implies!

Ojon Rare Blend Protecting Treatment - .85 oz Value $3.88

Subscribers will either receive this item or the Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Conditioner. I'm happy I got this sample. I use a hair straightener almost everyday, so I need all the hair protection I can get!

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Quikee

Supersmile Quikee - FULL SIZE! Value $18

This is an on-the-go teeth whitening product. You apply a pearl-sized drop of polish on your teeth, and evenly distribute it using your tongue. (No rinsing required). I like the minty flavor - it makes a good alternative to gum, but the application isn't my favorite. I wish the applicator was designed to apply it directly on your teeth instead of putting it on your teeth with your fingertip.

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Wen

dr. brandt pores no more cleanser - FULL SIZE! Value $35

I've tried a few different dr. brandt pores no more products, but this is the first time I've received the cleanser in a subscription box. It gets great reviews on Birchbox, so I'm excited to try it.

Wen Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner - 6 oz Value $12

Wen has shown up in a few past New Beauty Test Tubes (and QVC New Beauty Test Tubes). I prefer a shampoo and conditioner to a cleansing conditioner (probably just because of habit), but I'll use this as a conditioner, and maybe as a leave in conditioner.

Here are the instructions for using a Cleansing Conditioner if you are new to the product:

Directions:
Rinse hair and dispense appropriate amount of WEN®. Apply through hair, adding a splash of water to help distribute. Remember, WEN® will not lather.

Massage into hair and leave in for the rest of your shower, then rinse completely.

Apply a dime size to a quarter size amount depending on hair length and texture as a leave-in conditioner.

For best results we suggest you cleanse, rinse and repeat. Use half the recommended pumps for the first cleanse, and the remaining half for the second cleanse.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $114. That's good for a New Beauty Test Tube box, and I'm happy with the product selection this month - I think I'll use everything. (Fortunately some of the repeat brands/products in this box are also some of my all-time favorites).

What do you think of the July New Beauty Test Tube box?

Hi, I am trying to list mine for swap (entire tube) but whenever I get past the upload image part, there is no way to move forward. Can I get some help? I have successfully added items in the past so maybe this is just a glitch?
Thanks!
Nicole

I was unable to use the coupon code (says it’s for new customers only), but I had enough HSN spendable cash to make this only 33 cents, so I pounced! Looking forward to getting it!!

The wen subscription/refund issues are with Guthy Renker, the company that controls the infomercial (and all sales outside of QVC and Chaz Dean Studios). You’ll find the same complaints from people that buy items from any of GR’s infomercials. They’re apparently a nightmare to deal with & even have slightly different ingredients than the products sold by QVC & CDS.

I would suggest buying wen from QVC.com because they have better prices, a better selection, and their 30 day return policy is 100% hassle free. Chaz also has great tutorials on their website. My favorites are the soy based formulas (seasonal scents & pomegranate), rice based formulas (bamboo green tea, mandarine Italian fig, kids wen & wen men), 613, and tea tree (yes, that’s all of them except 4 of the original formulas, lol).

I’ll leave the hair falling out issue alone since all I know about it is what I’ve read online.

For me, it’s so much more than just being sulfate free – my hair is incredibly healthier & thicker than it was 9 years ago & my color retention is amazing – I have to cover grey but never need to do more than touch up my roots because the color all the way down past my shoulders never fades. From infant to 60+ yrs old, every family member & friend that uses wen loves it too. I personally don’t know anyone that has tried it & doesn’t love what wen has done for their hair & scalp…but that is just my experience.

I’m also a Wen convert & I can attest to the fact that my hair has never looked better (probably more so because of the silicones than actual health benefits)! However, I would suggest against using it as a leave in. In my research of the ingredients, I found that there are several chemicals in the products that are irritants when left on the skin & one website actually suggested it would be damaging if left on the hair.

I love my Wen but just an FYI – it has broken me out terribly! I’m all broken out on my face around my forehead hair line, my neck (WTF?!?) and down the middle of my back where my hair lays while I complete my shower before rinsing my hair. I have never had breakouts on my back, nor my neck (seriously WTF) so I’m only assuming it’s due to the Wen.

Sounds like a great box this time. I subscribed for a few years & stopped when all the tubes started getting the same with things I had no interest in. This one makes me want to sign up again!

Greta, The wen hair loss thing baffles me. I’m not saying it isn’t real, but I’ve been using only wen hair care products for 9 years & not only have I never had a problem, but I’ve never had such amazing hair. I even take it to my salon so shampoo never touches my hair. I’ll spare you all my rave review of wen, but needless to say, I highly recommend it. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it’s worth figuring it out!

Since I’ve been using Wen, I’ve actually noticed a huge reduction in the amount of hair I lose. I don’t get the claims either but my guess is it’s probably some type of allergic reaction to the ingredients and/or the gluten in the conditioner.
I absolutely love my Wen products and won’t use anything else!

Amy, I’m happy this has been so successful for you! I’m merely mentioning the class action lawsuit, as I think it’s very important to be aware of. Many people don’t like trying products associated with a high risk. Also, some of the women in the suit were previously Wen Girls for years without incident. Then their hair fell out in large bald patches. That’s just not something I want to even have a chance of happening when I can use Pureology and not worry about color or hair health. The other side of the suit is how they handled things. They claimed a guarantee but never refunded anybody (would claim never receiving product back), deleted Neg reviews, and continued charging after subscriptions were cancelled. I recommend trying it from Sephora so you can actually return it without event.

I’m not sure. I recommend either emailing them or calling them to verify: [email protected] or Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 8:00 pm ET at:(800) 313-0210

Hope that helps a little!

Thanks Liz!

That’s interesting that they are putting in so many boxes lately. Wen has been hit with Class Action Lawsuits (late 2014) for women losing their hair, and for deleting online negative reviews and comments regarding it. There were other allegations as well, but I do t want to misquote. It is an easy Google.
On a bright note, most of the other items look like wins to me!

Strange since my hair had the opposite reaction getting more volume and soft/shiny, but of course one size doesn’t fit all, so to speak!

I LOVED this tube! I got mine a few weeks ago and have used everything in it multiple times. The tube you received only has 3 items in common with mine: the IT! brow pencil, the Balanced Guru hair oil and the Quickee toothpaste. I received a travel size Moroccan Oil styling spray, an Orly polish (neon pink, always fun for summer), Avene facial spray and an organic lip balm. I think I got the best version for me though would’ve been happy with more Wen. I used to be a “Wen girl” but it got too expensive (and time consuming since the washing process takes a while if you follow the directions). Liz you did an outstanding job with your picks! The IT! is now my all time favorite brow pencil, and I’ve tried a ton and wear brow products daily. Outstanding job!

I LOVE that brown pencil but I already have two. I got the identical tube as Liz. 🙂

This looks like a great box compared to the others. I too love the It Cosmetics brow pencil, just got one in my Ipsy bag last month and LOVE it!
