My Pretend Place is a subscription service for children, offering both a quarterly subscription of costumes and theme-related items, and a monthly craft subscription. We recently reviewed the costume subscription, and that one was a lot of fun! This review is of the monthly crafts subscription.

This month's craft is pirate masks! These are the instructions (sorry I cut off the bottom - oops!). The very first package we received from MPP Crafts had instructions that were kind of confusing, but every month since then they have been much better.

This is a letter sent to the kids informing them of a casting call for pirates in a play. I really like that they always include letters like this! It's good reading practice, plus it adds wonderful imagination to the creative process.

My Pretend Place includes little extras like this every month - a magnet, some stickers, and a handle to turn the box into a case for the finished products.

These were all the supplies that were included this month to finish our projects. We didn't even have to supply scissors!

Voila! The completed masks! They turned out cute, and my kids got a kick out of them. For some reason they thought it was hilarious that the masks only have one eye hole.
The verdict: My Pretend Place's crafts subscription provides a fun rainy-day activity for the kids once a month. This month's craft was a little simple, but they ended up with a piece of costumery they can use in conjuntion with their pirate garb. The stickers were just extra, which is kind of strange, but they love stickers, so I guess it's a bonus. I think MPP is a little inconsistent from month to month about the difficulty of their projects. I also think there are definitely higher quality kids' craft subscriptions out there, but not at this low price point. I think this would be a great subscription for grandmothers or aunts to get and have stockpiled for when the little ones come over!
