GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Box

GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually deluxe-size or full size, and the value is usually really good too. The only issue with this box seems to be the late shipping – I would recommend just keeping that in mind and setting your expectations accordingly if you sign up for this box.

GlossyBox sent us this box early for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Info

Each box comes with a fold out card detailing the items included.

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Hey Honey

Hey Honey I Peel Good Biomimetic Creamy Honey Peel Cream - .5 oz Value $29.50

This Hey Honey Peel is half the size of the full size version, and a new product from the Hey Honey line. (It is currently only available for pre-order on the Hey Honey site). I couldn't find the ingredients online yet, but I decided to try it anyway since I've never had any issues with other Hey Honey products.

The formula is a little sticky/tacky at first, and you apply it to your face, then massage it in for 2-3 minutes. (After about a minute the formula becomes less sticky and more oily). I like any skincare routine product that takes less than 5 minutes, so I was excited to try this one. It was easy enough to use, and you just rinse off the peel at the end of 3 minutes. It left my skin feeling smoother and softer, so I'll definitely use this on a regular basis.

Face Stockholm Eye Lip Liner - FULL SIZE Value $17

(Colors will vary on this item). The info card shows a pink lip liner pencil, and I would have preferred a shade in the pink/red range, but this will work for me as an eyeliner.

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Cargo

Cargo Cosmetics Water Resistant Blush in Coronado - .14 oz Value $9.80

I've sampled the Water Resistant Blush in Los Cabos and I like the formula, so I'm happy to have another shade. This color barely shows up on my skin, so I'll use it for a subtle blush look.

Naked Lips Organic Lip Balm - FULL SIZE! Value $5.50

This lip balm has a refreshing minty flavor. It is very moisturizing and adds a bit of shine too. (My lip balm wishlist trifecta!)

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Booster

Kueshi Anticellulite Booster - FULL SIZE! Value $22.60

I was having difficulty finding this product for sale online, so I'm using the value Glossybox listed on the card. It is scented, but I don't mind the fragrance. The formula is pretty lightweight, and absorbs quickly. I've tried a few cellulite creams before, and some leave your skin tingling, but this one just feels like a normal body moisturizer. (So worst case scenario, it's a nice smelling body cream - I'm guessing it will take me a few weeks to see if I notice any difference with cellulite).

Verdict: This box has a value of about $84. So far my favorite items are the honey peel, the lip balm, and the Cargo blush. And we'll see if the Kueshi Anticellulite Booster works for me! I'm happy with the value this month, and the sizes of the products.

What do you think of the July GlossyBox?

This GlossyBox is really a big bust for me. I’m cashing in my GlossyDots and putting this subscription box in my rearview mirror. Glossybox was, for me, a real pleasure to receive. Beautiful packaging & elegant box designs made the whole unboxing process a Christmas morning delight. Now the company seems to have lost there way in the last few boxes. I’m not going to pay for disappointment anymore. Good Luck GlossyBox.

I received my second box today. This was July’s curated box with no replacements included. I must say I am a bit disappointed in this box. The anti-cellulite cream I will try however, most of these lotions are gimmicky. I love the cargo blush as I have received them in the past from Birchbox. The lipstick is more an organic version of chapstick and I will definitely use it in the future. Although I like neutrals Glossybox keeps sending me dark browns. I am a fair and blonde headed…go figure. I would love red or pink or nude but not dark brown. The lipliner was a fail. I might try it as an eyeliner although I don’t wear it much. Last month’s was excellent and it was my first Glossybox. I have read so many rave reviews about them that I hope the next months will be terrific. I love Boxycharm and Birchbox and they have yet to disappoint me. Boxycharm in comparison for the money is better than Glossybox thus far.

Just a note of caution. The Naked Organics lip balm caused a lsevere allergic reaction with me. My lips are swollen, painful and covered with blisters after using this product. I contacted Glossybox just to let them know but of course no reply.

Received my first Glossy Box today and disappointed. Great packaging and meh products. Liked the peel but could do without having to massage my face for 2-3 minutes. Not a fan of lip liner that I will never use due to the colour (red), jury is still out on the blush and cellulite cream. Chapstick smells nice but I wear lipstick/gloss all day so this won’t be rarely used. Hoping next month will be better.

This is my first box and I got everything that Liz recieved, but the lip pencil in Vera, which is like a burgundy red.

UGH, HUGE fail. All I wanted was the cargo blush. I ended up with a cheap hair conditioner. I’m so glad this 3 month sub is over. What a bunch of crap! Their alternatives don’t compare.

So weird. I always wonder what people choose in their profile thing on Glossybox compared with me, as I always got what Liz received. I cancelled temporarily so I could save some money up for something else, but even though I’ve swapped some things I always seemed to come up with many wins in these boxes. I also kind of felt they actually looked at the surveys (based on my answers and what I’d get), so maybe that will help you for next month?

I am right there with you. This is my second box, and I’m soooo disappointed in the replacement item I got instead of the Cargo blush. I ended up with a 1 time use plumping mask. I ended up biting the bullet and ordering Boxy Charm the day after I received this box. My 9 yr. old niece was here and couldn’t wait to see what fun makeup I got since I showed her the box on here, the disappointment was all over her poor little face. So Sept. is going to be the make it or break it for me and Glossybox.

Did anybody else get an email link to this month’s surveys to earn Glossydots, only to get there and be told “no surveys available”? I faithfully fill those surveys out each month knowing I’ll be due one free box eventually, so I’m hoping I won’t miss out on the Dots this month. Thanks in advance for any help!

Susanne

I received the same e-mail today. I knew I had filled mine out but, thought maybe it was a little something extra. I think they are having some issues with their e-mails and shipping details this month.

Susanne

I have a question that hopefully someone can help me with. I subscribed to Glossy box around the middle of May and tried to use the BROWPOW promo code. Unfortunately it was “overused” so I didn’t receive anything. I was told I would be able to use a new promo code through the news letter but, I have never received a code in the news letter. I did see there is a new promo code for new subscribers but of course I’m not a new subscriber now. I’ve tried a few times going through customer support with emails and through f/b without any real help. Does anyone know what else I can do, or is it a lost cause?

mimiretz

The only other thing I can think of is finding a customer service phone number and calling them. I’ve found that a lot of times phone calls are more effective than e-mails, in part because people can’t ignore them. If there’s not one listed on the website, try googling the company — sometimes they’re listed that way or under a BBB listing. If you have a city and state, you can use the online Yellow Pages, too.

Reply ButtonReply

Susanne

Thank you for replying. I’m just not real sure about how I’m feeling about Glossybox yet. The customer support seems to answer quickly, however I feel like I’m getting the run around from them. Not only that but I received my July box on the 18th, and it seemed like they just threw everything in there. And instead of the cargo blush I need up with a 1 time use plumping mask?!? I was so excited for the blush, I also received the brown lip/eyeliner that I don’t think I will use. This box actually confirmed it for me and I subbed to Boxycharm….lol. So I guess next month will be the make it or break it for me. Sorry for the novel!! Lol

Mary

It’s not a lost cause. I had something similar happen with Sample Society (now Allure) and I eventually got to use a $5 off code. However, Sample Society had good customer service while Glossybox is notoriously bad. Here is their toll free phone #: 1-855-738-1140. If that doesn’t work, ask them about it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. That seems to be the last-shot resolution for disputes like this because the company doesn’t want to look sloppy and uncaring on social media. Good luck!

Finally got my box (it was delivered EARLY to the new house and I didn’t get out there until tonight).

Laniege sleeping mask (I think I have another of these from somewhere), Hey Honey peel, lip balm, massive tube of anticellulite cream, and WHITE EYELINER. (Hey, at least it’s not black…)

Reply ButtonReply

Erin

Surprised by all the disappointment – I got almost the same box (a pink lipliner instead of brown, mascara instead the Cargo blush) and think it’s a great box!

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

Am I the only one who got a white eye liner instead of lip liner? Excited to try the anticellulite booster and Its nice to get a lip balm instead of a pink lip stick or gloss. I have so many of those. I got a water sleep mask which is a repeat item but all in all its not a bad box.

Mary

In six months, this was Glossybox’s first fail for me. Instead of the Cargo blush, I got the Brazilian hair cream, which I’ve already got 2 samples of from other boxes. The lip liner is a screaming red orange I’ll never wear. Anti-cellulite treatments don’t work. I don’t plan to use any of the items except maybe the lip balm and I need a new lip balm like another hole in my head. 🙂 Yeah, this one was a stinker. But there’s always next month!

Reply ButtonReply

mimiretz

I also got the hair stuff, but it’s the first time for me. Not sure about it. I agree that cellulite treatments don’t work, but I figure it’ll make a semi-good body lotion. My lip liner is a soft rose color, so I’ll definitely get some use out of it. All in all, the box is kind of meh — not great, but not horrible.

Danielle

Ugh, I’m so disappointed! I really wanted the blush, but instead got a protein hair mask from some odd brand in a container that reminds me of horse medicine. Oh, and of course it’s worth way less than the blush…it’s $16.99 for 35.3 oz and this is only 3.5 oz.

I won’t use a single thing this month except the peel, and I think it’s overpriced for the size. I’m allergic to peppermint so I can’t use the lip balm, my hair does not like protein and protein treatments seriously dry it out, I don’t have cellulite, and lip liner is one thing I’ve never really gotten into.

I have the exact same box as Liz with the lipliner in “Bibbi”
Happy to sell it for cost + postage. Unopened box…I just fished out the lip liner to get the colour

This is the one time I’m seriously disappointed! So wanted that blush but got a plumping facial mask I’ll never user instead I’m usually pretty happy with Glossybox but lately seems like Boxycharm is a better value…. I’ll give it another mo & see….
Anyone want a facial plumping mask trade?

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

I don’t have my box yet but I doubt I want my blush if it’s the same as the one that was in Birchbox. Not a good color for me. I won’t have my box until Monday, though.

Cheri

Let me know. I’ve got other box items to trade as well if you’re interested.

Bec

I’m a little disappointed in this box. I have gotten Ipsy and Birchbox for almost 2 years now and decided it was time to “upgrade”. I canceled both of those and sines to Glossybox and Boxycharm decided to give it two months to see which I would like better. This box seems exactly like something I would get in an Ipsy bag. May be going with Boxycharm if next month isn’t any better…

I cancelled last month and I am so glad. I think this month is terrible. The Honey peel is nice but to me that is about it. Last month I was so disappointed, there wasn’t much in it that I cared about and one of my items was busted. I did contact them about it and since they were out of the item they let me pick another item (I chose a Beauty Blender), which in turn made my box better actually, but that was the only reason. I’m also Canadian, so the boxes cost even more for me. Seems like Glossy hasn’t been as impressive lately compared to what they used to and what is with all the sample sizes.

I am SO disappointed in my glossy box this month! I was excited to get the hey honey but they basically sent me the same box as last month. I got the exact same nail polish mini, same aloe gel, same Too Faced mascara. The only difference is a super sticky doucce lip gloss instead of the brush from last month and I got a deluxe conditioner instead of the last moisturizer. I was disappointed in my box last month and CERTAINLY don’t like it any more this month. I wish I hadn’t prepaid for this sub.

Reply ButtonReply

shirley

I subscribed to this for 3 months and they automatically renewed my sub for another 3 months. I emailed them but no reply. I think this is such a bad business practice. If someone just wanted to try for 3 months they would renew on their own.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

They do auto-renew and it sucks. They do it before you even get that month’s box. I contacted them on FB and they refund my money.

Reply ButtonReply

Mila

It actually says that they auto renew it if you do not unsubscribe from it just like it does for any other sub box.

Cindy

I am having trouble discerning the color of that blush and can’t find it online. Is it a peachy or pinkish color? I hope it’s a pinkish color because the one I received from (I think) Birchbox was peachy.

I didn’t get the blush I got a sample of Novex conditioner. Same one that was always available on Beauty Army. :/

I agree it’s going downhill. The July of from last year was INCREDIBLE. This… Not so much :'(

I am new to the monthly beauty subscriptions and I think these products look great. They are definitely higher end products .

Not entirely sure how I’m going to feel about this box, but I really enjoyed my June box, which was my first. So far it may be a hit and a miss for me. I’m subscribed month to month so I will see how August goes and if I enjoy this month’s products in the end. That said, I may be willing to trade a few items off some hands if I like the Honey mask, blush, or you get a color of the pencil you don’t enjoy that works for me. I got the swap email and need to set mine up, but if you comment here about wanting to trade I will figure out how to get it all sorted and such fast! I subscribe to Popsugar, Ipsy, BB, Glossy, Boxy for my makeup and used to subscribed to Julep so there’s a random smattering of items from all around there. Sorry if trade talk isn’t allowed here, just learning to navigate around here! I’ll set it up so those who are interested can find me there!

I had a weird GlossyBox shipping issue during June. I received the June box around the 3rd week of June then 4 days later I received a second Glossybox (it was different then the first June box). Then this weekend I received an email with tracking for the July box and when I track it it shows my July box was already received by me back in June.

It’s not my first GlossyBox (it’s my 3rd month as a subscriber) so I dunno why my July box was shipped so early. Anyone have that happen to them? Don’t get me wrong, I loved that I received my box early!

P.S. I wish we all got the same boxes! I’m having major box envy. 🙂
