Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – June 2015 Box

Escape Monthly is a monthly vacation-in-a-box subscription. Each box comes with food, beauty items, and other souvenirs from a new destination. You also get a tourist book – so this box might help you plan your next actual vacation too.

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – June 2015 Info

Each box comes with a fold out sheet detailing the items included. (The format is a little different this month - no more listed prices). This month's destination is Vancouver / Victoria.

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – June 2015 Tote

Native Origins Eco Bag - Value $7.95

(Subscribers may receive different bag designs). I seem to always have a use for more reusable totes - so this works for me!

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – June 2015 Book

Moon Travel Guide to Victoria & Vancouver Island - Value $10.44

Each Escape Monthly box comes with a different guidebook. (This is probably my least favorite part of this box because I never end up using them).

Rain City Foods Miso Ginger Grapefruit Dressing - Value $7?

I couldn't find this dressing online, so I'm guessing on the price, but it sounds delicious!

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – June 2015 Salt

SeaChange Salmon Pate - Value $8

Vancouver Island Salt Co. Orange & Lime Sea Salt - Value $6

I like seeing all these food items in the box! I can't try the pate because of dairy (and also because my palette isn't that sophisticated - my favorite subscription box food item is still anything that is gummy candy). But the salt will be great for margaritas!

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – June 2015 Tea

Native Elements Magnet - Value $4? (Bonus item)

Murchie's The Golden Jubilee Tea - Value $4.25

This tea is a black tea blend. I drink several cups of tea a day, so I'm always happy to get a new blend to try in a subscription box!

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – June 2015 Chocolate

Coconama Specialty Chocolates - Value $7

(While I normally don't count shipping in values, in this case I think it worth mentioning that it would be an additional $15 to ship these chocolates to the US if you were to buy them online).

This sampler included the flavors: mango, green tea, blueberry and coffee. My husband liked them a lot but didn't LOVE them - which is a good thing considering the shipping costs!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $55. That's pretty good for Escape Monthly, and I like the curation this month. (It is a little heavy on the food items though). What do you think of the June Escape Monthly box? Do you prefer more food or bath/beauty products for these boxes?

This was my first box, and I signed up as part of the promotion where you got a free previous box with your first box. I think my last box was mostly the Rockies one, but it didn’t have the informational flyer, and it seemed like possibly some beauty items from previous boxes were stuck in there……Either way…I liked the Rockies box. The Vancouver box I had to give away the Salmon. Yuck! I am also having to give away the chocolate and the salad dressing…because I just found out I can’t have gluten, or soy, or mango or coffee or blue berry or green tea. So that was kind of sad. I was considering canceling because of my new issues…but then I saw New Orleans was this month, and I couldn’t resist staying – I’ve always wanted to go there. I guess I will have to take things on a month by month basis.

I found a spoiler!

“Escape Monthly contacted us to partner with them for their upcoming destination – New Orleans! …. NOLAS Sugar Scrub Blue Like Jazz (Lavender) and Mint Julep Lip Balm will be featured products this coming July!” http://www.neworleanslipandsoap.com/blog

Haha, no way! I’m from Vancouver so all these goodies are less than exotic to me. They are all awesome, though. Coconama chocolates are AMAZING. There are about 20-30 different flavours you can get.

I subscribed to Escape monthly for a very long time and just recently stopped. We were just in Vancouver and Victoria so I found this box to be a good one. Not sure I will sign up for next one though.

I think that box is really well done. Definitely very well thought out. I love salmon pate so should have got this box. I had cancelled after the Japan Box as that was a bit of a disappointment

I love this box! I get the luxe box each month. In addition to what was posted, I got a scarf, journal and one other item. Instead of the bonus magnet I got ginger snap cookies. I like a mix of food, beauty and souvineer type items. Can’t wait until they announce the next destination!

Seeing the review makes me miss Escape Monthly. Did they announce next month’s destination?

July will be New Orleans!

I actually like this box a lot. The only thing I’d change is the pate, since a lot of people can’t eat it.

Is this box still available?

Email them! I always had a wonderful customer service experience with them. My sister emailed them for an India box after some time passed. Rebecca was able to put one together for her.

I’ve received the last three boxes, starting with the one for Japan. I thought the Japanese box was filled with mostly really cheap items and I cancelled (the subsequent two boxes were basically an accident.) I have to say, though, that these last two have been pretty good. They have been pretty food centric, admittedly, but I think that’s better than a couple of cheapie trinkets.

They seem to be alternating food-centric boxes with bath/body products. I think food is very appropriate for Vancouver, while last month’s Rockies box was appropriately body-centric. It’s nice because we have time to use up the products before getting more.

I have to agree….Japan was my first box and I was ready to cancel…but I thought I would give it another month or two to make my decision….and I’ve been happy with the last 2 boxes so I’ll take it month by month and see how it goes.
