These comments about baking are cracking me up. I thought she meant baking a cake as well! At first I thought this was a white powder eyeshadow, and my reaction, naturally, was “GROSSSSS.” But I am SO excited to try a setting powder! I’ve been wanting to try one of these for months, and now I get it in my Boxycharm!? YES.

I’m legitimately excited for this product! I’ve been covering my foundation with my pressed powder, but even with a good brush, the end product was too fake and cakey for my tastes. And I can’t just go with foundation because of the heat, humidity, and my own mildly oily skin. They’re always so expensive in stores though, so I’ve never tried one before! Suuuper excited to get this box!

I love BoxyCharm!!!!! I can’t wait for this box!

So would this replace applying pressed/compact powder or do you apply it after foundation and powder?

EC

Definitely don’t use both pressed powder and setting powder. That would be way too much dry product. You should use it in lieu of pressed powder. Setting/finishing powders have a much nicer finish and don’t cause a “cakey” look that pressed powders can leave.

I’m excited about this box! Have never tried any of these brands. We are sure to get a nail and or lip product. Hoping for a tinted lip balm.

So….. since this is a Transparent Veil Setting powder…… Can it be used for cooking/baking, or is it JUST a setting powder? If it’s JUST a setting powder, can anyone recommend one for cooking/baking. I’ve been wanting to try that, on a whim, and am not really sure what I should be looking for.

boom

I usually bake with Ben Nye banana powder….

Jessica

Thank you for the recommendation! I will definitely check it out!

Hahahaha!!!!

Sara

What???! You’d bake with a setting powder?

Jocelyn

Haha I’m pretty sure Jessica is referencing a makeup application technique but it took me a minute too!

I read about it a few weeks ago. If I remember correctly you apply it heavily on top of your makeup and leave it for about ten minutes or more to let your body heat “cook” or “bake” into your skin then you use a make up brush to dust the excess off and blend it in.

It’s supposed to make your makeup look even more natural–but I think it’s designed for cream and liquid based products (aside from the setting powder) and I personally use predominantly powder foundations, highlighters, bronzers, etc thanks to oily skin and super high humidity southern weather.

Benita

i think she means this: http://kissablecomplexions.com/let-them-bake-setting-powders-more/

I was super confused too so I googled! My mind went to baking a cake or something when I read that.
