I was excited to see this option since I love sample vials and the coupon/certificate to get the larger one from Sephora. I’m not really familiar with any of these scents, I feel it’s a limited choice too-only 8- and doesn’t get you a full size since its only a $30 coupon. But a pro is using your Birchbox points 🙂

my whole family is scent-obsessed, so between getting full-sized bottles every christmas and birthday, and all the samples that come through subby boxes, it’s just boggling to me to pay $$ for more 1.5mL samples.

Call me crazy, I love perfume samples, but I hate trying on scents in department stores and Sephora….there’s just too many smells going on for me to commit. I like trying them out at home. Is Sephora samples a better deal, probably. But for someone who enjoys perfume samples in general, I don’t think this Birchbox deal is God-awful.

There’s no way I would do this. All your really getting is an extra $5 toward a perfume that you have to select from the list. Maybe if you wasn’t going to buy it anyway? I know Sephora was just offering 8 different perfume samples in a cute little zip bag for free with a $25 purchase. They had two different bags and I got them both so I got 16 free perfume samples, that’s not even counting the other 3 samples you always get too!

After reading the comments I checked out what Sephora was offering. Their deals are similar but better, in the sense you don’t have to pay anymore for the full bottle
– 6 samples (all spray bottles) and a rollerball for $24
– 11 or 14 samples (they have 2 boxes) and a full size perfume for $55 or $60
– 7 minis and full size for $58
So basically, you are getting all the minis for free if you purchase one of the perfumes in each offer. Sounds good to me.
The only advantage of the Birchbox offer is that you can buy it with points. Personally I’m using all my Birchbox points for more Birchbox subscriptions, though, but I may treat myself to one of the Sephora deals.

Maybe….But I like the scent selection from Birchbox better than any of Sephora’s offerings. I might go for this.

I’m exactly the opposite. I have never really been a fan of any of the scents Birchbox has sent me. Some I downright hate, and some I’m just “meh” about.
But, perfume is a really individual thing. As is body chemistry.

I did the last one, 7 minis and a full size for $58. But I know that I love one of the minis (knew it before the purchase) so it was a good deal for me.

I love anything by TOCCA – perfumes, lotions, candles, what have you. And normally, I would take advantage of this deal asap because of TOCCA Isabel, BUT I just used 600 Birchbox points a few months ago to purchase a set of 3 15mL TOCCA perfumes (Cleopatra is the BEST scent in the world!) that will take me a year or two to get through, so I have no need for any more perfume….

Correction: I actually only spent 500 Birchbox points

I love this concept and have bought two fragrance samplers from Sephora that turned me on to a few of my now-favorite perfumes. And, being an almost exclusive online shopper, it’s convenient that the Birchbox coupon can be redeemed online, unlike Sephora (they force you do go inside to redeem probably hoping you will buy a lot of other stuff while there — not gonna work, Sephora! lol). I’m not interested in this particular Birchbox set, however, because I don’t care for most of the fragrances included. I hope they continue to offer more of these sets, though!

I actually love this idea…but the minis are a disappointment as well as the 30 dollar coupon. Most of those fragrances cost double that, if not more {especially Juliette has a gun…}. If most ppl wait long enough they will get the minis in their boxes…nice try birchbox, nice try.

I feel like this is just a $5 coupon. Because, I would never pay $25 for 7 tiny little vials that I get for free in department stores. Yes you do get $30 coupon towards a fragrance that you like but if you don’t like any of those fragrances or you do not purchase a full size I feel like that is a rip off. I would think this would be best for someone who already knew they wanted one of those fragrances. You can purchase the kit and then use your $30 coupon and end up saving $5 total off of your purchases.

You’re so right. I was trying to figure out how this could be a good deal and you put it so well!

I paid about $60 for something similar through Sephora, but it came with a bunch of minis and a voucher for a full-sized perfume in store (not in the JCP locations, though, but there is a Sephora in the mall near me). But I would totally pay for minis and would not pay for sample vials.
Also, thanks to Birchbox and other subs, I’ve already tried a few of those. I hate Folle de Joie. Almost as much as I hate Harvey Prince Sincerely. (But the Sephora one was a no brainer for me because one of the options for FS is Gucci Guilty, which I really like.)
