Keep in Touch is a new subscription service that sends a monthly postcard that you can play on your turntable! How unique! I was completely intrigued when I heard about this subscription, and rushed out to get a subscription for myself and my best friend.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription: Keep in Touch
The Cost: $65 per year (at this time, they appear to only do annual subscriptions)
The Products: One postcard per month featuring original artwork and a song that can be played on your turntable, plus an mp3 download code for the song.
Ships to: US
Good to know: Subscriptions are currently sold out.
This was the sixth mailing from Keep In Touch. After February's mailing, I decided to stop trying to play these on my record player. They play really, really poorly, and I'm afraid they will damage my system somehow.
What I LOVE about this subscription, aside from the concept, is the artwork! I am so happy they have started including photography as well as paintings and drawings. I love this photo! The artist is Ryan Russell. Of the six mailings I've received from them, there was only one I didn't like, and that was purely a personal taste issue. I am getting excited for the end of the year already - since the postcards don't really play, I plan to make a tableau of the artwork over our stereo. I think it will look really cool!
This month's song is "Embracing Facts (ver 2.0)" by Into It. Over It. I was happy to hear from a band I've actually heard of before! The song is really lovely, ambient, singer-songwriter style. It actually reminds me a bit of a fuzzy Simon & Garfunkel. It's not my favorite style of music, but it's still beautiful.
Verdict: There's something really wonderful about this subscription, even when I'm not completely in love with either the music or artwork. I think it's just the simple pairing of music and art. I'm also a big fan of the really low price; it's a complete bargain. I love it!
