GQ Quarterly Subscription Box Review #GQQ03 Letter

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator detailing the items included and why they were selected. The theme of this box is all about shoes!

GQ Quarterly Subscription Box Review #GQQ03 Greats

Free Pair of Wilson Shoes - Value $49

This coupon is for a free pair of Wilsons Greats, you do have to pay shipping though ($7). (The coupon also works on the Wilson Suede version, which is $59) We haven't received our shoes yet, but looking at their website it seems that this company is all about craftsmanship/quality, so I have high expectations!

GQ Quarterly Subscription Box Review #GQQ03 Mark

Jason Markk Premium Shoe Cleaner Essential Kit - Value $16

I originally thought this kit was just for dress shoes, but it works on most materials: leather, suede, nubuck, canvas, vinyl, nylon, cotton mesh. We'll definitely use it!

GQ Quarterly Subscription Box Review #GQQ03 Socks

Richer Poorer No Show Socks (2 Pair) - Value $15

Laced Up Laces - Value $10

We've received Richer Poorer socks in subscription boxes before, and they're a great quality sock brand. (The sock pair you can't see in the picture is solid blue). I don't think we've ever run into a situation where extra laces are needed, but at least these are a basic black.

GQ Quarterly Subscription Box Review #GQQ03 Shoe Bag

Baggu Large 3D Zip Bag - Value $12

I know I shouldn't be so excited about a shoe bag, but this is the one travel item I always remember I need right when I'm packing, and then forget to order for my next trip! And I already have a few Baggu items in this stripe print, so that's a bonus!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $102 (Or $112, if you use the coupon for the suede version of the Wilson shoe). Considering the cost of this box with shipping is $108, and you have to pay $7 shipping to get the shoes, I'm disappointed in the value. I like the curation and the theme this month, and the Greats brand is a new discovery to us, but I would have liked to see them add one more item to this box to get the value above the cost.

What do you think of the latest GQ Quarterly box?

I was loving this box and thinking of getting it until you pointed out the value. Quarterly is almost never good with the RV to box cost ratio, but this is particularly bad.

On the bright side, I think I’ve found a couple of things I’ll probably buy (a shoe bag? Yes, please!)

I can’t believe I didn’t know there was such a thing as a shoe bag! Lol! I just went on vacation and this would of been perfect!

I hope people give feedback on this box – the cost versus value PLUS requiring us to pay for shipping. They should give us a CODE that gives free shipping (at minimal). Hopefully everyone writes in to let Quarterly know.

This seems like a nice box, except, as you say, the rv isn’t there. If the rv was $150+ I would buy it for my husband! I am going to buy the Jason Markk cleaner, though, since I have some yellow canvas slingbacks in desperate need of a spot treatment.

the curation seems good, but the value just isn’t there – $10 for laces and having to pay for shipping on the shoes seems ridiculous. it definitely looks like something is missing… throw in a snack and some lotion or something

I feel like the Quarterly boxes are never worth the money, they barely cover the cost of the box itself. I like this box and think it’d be great for $50, but not for $100.

I only buy when they are on sale, so I feel I get a better value that way. I hate when boxes charge for shipping though. Even if they just rolled it into the price, it would be better, but when you are also charged for shipping….
