Each box comes with a card detailing the items included and some tips on how to use them.

birchbox-june-2015-coola

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo - .75 oz Value $6.75

I love the pattern/packaging on all Amika products! This dry shampoo goes on clear (and I like the scent) so it's a winner.

Coola SPF 50 Sport in Fresh Mango - .5 oz Value $3.20

This was my sample pick for the month. Normally I try to pick a high-value sample item, but nothing really grabbed my attention this month. I wasn't too excited about this sample either, but I like Coola, so I knew I'd use it. After sampling it, I've become a little obsessed though - the mango scent is amazing! I also really like some of Coola's other scents (Pina Colada), so if you like those, I highly recommend the Fresh Mango!

birchbox-june-2015-BB

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow - .24 oz Value $4

I like this BB Cream - the color blended in well with my skin tone, and it gives a decent amount of coverage, with a smooth/matte finish.

Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask - .16 oz Value $2.50

This is a foam mask that only takes 5 minutes to work. Unfortunately, I won't be able to sample this since I'm allergic to one of the ingredients (Red 40), but it's such a small sample that at least it doesn't contribute too much value to the box.

birchbox-june-2015-emi-jay

Emi Jay Hair Tie - Value $2

This item is listed on the card as a lifestyle extra. I can never have enough hair ties or lip balms, so I'm happy with the extra!

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Blue Lagoon - .8 g Value $7.30

This eyeliner goes on so smoothly, and the color is a lighter metallic blue:

birchbox-june-2015-swatch

This isn't a shade I'd wear every day, but I really like it.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $26. I'm happy with the value and the sample sizes. (And no perfume samples!) The only one thing I won't use is the Bliss Mask, and I'm ok with 5 out of 6 items working for me! What did you pick as your sample from Birchbox this month? Are you happy with box?

For $10, you cannot go wrong with this box. Birchbox and Ipsy were my first 2 subscription boxes (ordered them at the same time), and they are the ones that have gotten me completely hooked! I am just in love. I love the surprises every month. These products are USED. Whether I use them right away, bring them on vacation with me (travel-sized plus point), or give them to a loved one if it’s not something that I am necessarily goingto use. When you give something to someone, they are so happy! They wouldn’t be getting this luxury beauty product if you hadn’t given it to them. There have not been many things that I give away, but I do give away anything eyebrow related (I don’t do that. Mine are pretty good), and also any duplicates I get (there have been maybe 3-4 of those) in the last 3 months (not bad!). June’s BB was just as satisfying as May’s. I got the Amika dry shampoo (best one I have ever tried), The Real Chemistry 3 Minute Peel (Meh, but you can’t love everything. I wouldn’t know if I didn’t try), The Supergoop Sun Block (I can never have enough suncare products, especially when they are this good!), Dr. Jart BB Night Beauty Balm (You could have stopped me at Dr. Jart. period), and then L. Erickson Narrow Grab and Go Pony (a cute fabric elastic (bright red). Threw it in my beach bag and Bam! tried 5 new products for $10. I’m a fan.

I choose the Skyn Iceland eye patches as my choice but ended up with the Coola Sunscreen AND the DrJardt+ micro water. I contacted them and they sent the right sample out. Love Coola products but thy are way to expensive. You can buy their other line, Hang Ten, for a great price, love it!

I have been getting Birchbox for a few months now – while I kind of prefer Ipsy (which I also get) I will say that Birchbox has good customer service. They try to right any wrongs such as wrong item or missing item and the points accumulate quickly. I just got used a coupon plus $30 in points to get some really cool stuff. One thing that makes me different apparently is that I am a perfume junky and like to try new fragrances.

I love perfume too and am always happy to get perfume samples in sub boxes. Even the little vials make me happy!

I got the same box as Liz! I must say that I absolutely loved the Bliss mask and I have already ordered the Marcelle BB cream in full size. This was a great box, I am very happy with it as I’ll be using everything I got.

I subscribed to both Ipsy and Birchbox early on, but ended up canceling my Ipsy for another Birchbox. This month was a bummer for both accounts, but their new sample choice preview is up!!! And it looks amazingggggg – don’t cancel your subscription just yet!

In all honesty, I wanted to try Birchbox and compare it to Ipsy and ipsy is just killing it! It’s comparable more so to the more expensive $20+ subscriptions. Birchbox is quiet disappointing, with only a few of the products being something I can use. The only thing that Birchbox has going for it is the ease of accumulating points and people can buy stuff from the shop. I did just buy some expensive items from the shop using 20% coupon plus $10 off points. Great deal, but not worth my subscription. Saving the money and want to find another subscription that will give me a better value (and quality of products).

Reply ButtonReply

Thanks for sharing, Ellen. I think I will give Birchbox a rest and sign up for ipsy in the fall. I used to work with a friend who got ipsy but was very particular and gave me the stuff she didn’t want. I do miss that sweet deal!

Finally got a sneek peek at my box! I’m getting Supergoop SPF, Marcelle liner, the bb cream, a hair protector spray, a hair tie and of course, a darn fragrance sample! Kinda wish they’d let us opt out of getting those, but all in all I’m happy BC the bb cream and liner I wanted most. Also the hair clip, but at 9.99 for 2 I can easily get them with my birchbox points! The thing I like best about birchbox is even if your box isn’t the greatest, you still get $5 back just by doing the reviews and can use it on products you really want or love! That makes it only really five bucks for your box and sometimes you are surprised by something you think you won’t like and end up loving it! So that’s why I stay even if I’m not happy with certain months, the chance to sample 5 products plus have a cute reusable box!

Hello, I am fairly new to subscription boxes and have tried and liked my Ipsy and GoodeBox so far, but was not crazy about my Conscious Box so will cancel that one. I have a Birchbox question… Do you choose the curated box and know what you are going to get or prefer the single sample choice enjoying the surprise items? Are the surprise items of higher value or size? I am not too picky, since I don’t have a lot of extra stuff, and am willing to gift what I don’t use. I enjoy all the makeup items, can use most of the skin care offerings but since I use a specific cleansing line for my hair, those items would be gifted. The $10.00 price point is hard to resist, and I love reading your posts with all your thoughts and suggestions. By the way, if you have another box you can endorse I’m listening….Thanks!

I received 20% off which I used to purchase Coola Sunscreen, TATCHA blotting papers, and a Baggu bag. I received the Say Yes box.

My box:
– Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream – 61 ingredients if I counted correctly. No way am I using that. I only counted because I was checking the ingredient list to see if I could use it. It is loooong!
– Coola SPF 50 Sport Mango – My PYS. I go through lots of sunscreen in the summer. I agree with Liz on the Pina Colada scent.
– Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner Mulberry – Giving to my sister.
– Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – Can’t use because of the aloe.
– Comptoir Sud Pacifique – Smells like Vanilla Extract. I’m going to give it a try anyways once I am done running errands.
– Darby Clip – This is useful.

I’m going to see if my sister will use the 2 face products. I did receive the Whish and Caudalie addons.

I wish BB offered an ingredient conscious box or at least the option of having one sample included in your box every month. I miss the ingredient conscious tab. It made it easier to look for items. I like the points, but doubt I will renew my year sub when it is up.

How did you use the code that you received to purchase products?

Reply ButtonReply

This is my first box and I got it for $1. Not sure I’d be happy if I paid $10.

20g Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator (nice big size)
Coastal Scents 4 shadow sampler
Marcelle pencil in Indigo (darker blue than Lagoon)
Supergoop SPF eye cream (glad to have this for camping and beaching)
Dr. Jart Night BB
EmiJay hair tie in a greenish gold color (just cut my hair so if you love these, let’s swap!)

I just started Birchbox in May and didn’t receive an e-mail for my sample choice for June, so dissapointed on that.

My June box came with the eyeliner in a dark blue ( i was hoping for the kit that was posted in the pix), bb glow cream, teeny tiny conditioner which I can barely get one use out of, chemical peel, Tony &guy pre-heat spray (it’s a good size, but I indicated I air dry my hair, so I’ll never use this), and my extra is a hair clip that adjusts to thick hair. Overall I’m happier with this box than my May box. My May box had makeup colors that don’t work for me.

I’m on the fence about trying Ipsy. I cancelled my Walmart sub account. I loved my FabiFitFun boxes. My addiction started from Sephora’s boxes.

First, can I say how much I love my actual box? It’s so pretty, looks like a sunset! Mine is lavender and peach. For me, this is my best birch box yet! On the last month of an annual subscription. :). I did get a perfume sample but HOORAY! No hair products! I am sick of shampoos, sprays, leave-ins and specified on birchbox and glossybox that I don’t want hair products. I have superfine hair that gets weighed down unless using very particular shampoo and conditioner. I get hair products every month in some version. I got a nice blue eyeliner (navy), a clean perfume vial, a Liz Earle face spray, a caudalie cleaning milk and peel sample and the hair tie as well as a sunscreen sample. Total win! So happy!

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

This is my second box. I hit the same exact box as crg2008 except my hair tie was red. Can’t wait to try the peel! Oh and I got 20% off on my coupons code.

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

How do you wear that hair tie? Where is the big knot supposed to go?

Reply ButtonReply

Marissa

Got a 10% of 50$ code in mine. Sadness, hopefully my mom’s is more promising!

Sara

I got one of my Birchboxes today, I got the Temple Spa shampoo and conditioner, a L. Erickson hair tie, which is nice quality. Also got Cotz Sunscreen, Dr Jart ceramidin day tint and marcelle eyeliner in Blue Lagoon. My other one has the shampoo and conditioner and hair tie coming too. I didn’t pick my sample this month, last month when I didn’t I got a box that fit my profile perfectly. This month is more like the haircare box. Ipsy was unfortunately better for me this month and I’m always team Birchbox. oh and my coupon was for 10% off a $50 purchase which kinda sucks too lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

I was pretty disappointed in my box. I got a perfume sample AGAIN. This is the 3rd one in 3 months. I picked the lowest amount of perfume samples in the profile.

I am happy about the face mask, hair tie, and the mango sunscreen (that was my pick this month.

Unhappy about the Minu shampoo for colored hair. Although my hair is colored, it is also dry, thick, and kinky curly. I need something super moisturizing. I may try it though. I got a plum colored eyeliner, when I tested it on my hand it looked dk. grey, which I already have. I think I will try it though and see how it looks on the eyes. I was really hoping for blue. Then I got two sample packets and a perfume.

I am really considering unsubscribing. I said I would if I got another perfume sample. Ugg….

Ana

I thought everyone was supposed to get the Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner! Did anyone? I didn’t, and it looks like Liz didn’t either!

Reply ButtonReply

liddybug

No. They were held up at customs. There was a letter explaining this at the bottom of the tracking email.

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

I’ll be getting the same box as Liz, if it ever shows up. Not Birchbox’s fault, but it was sent to the wrong post office a few hours away, so I have no idea how long it will take to make its way here.

I’m excited for it, though! I love those ribbon hair ties, I’ve been wanting to try the Amika dry shampoo, and the BB looks like something I might love. I would like to try that eyeliner, but I’m really hoping mine isn’t blue (that doesn’t look good with my eye color).

I will definitely swap the Coola sunscreen because I already have more than enough sunscreen, and possibly the Bliss mask as well, just because we’re getting the Eslor mask in BoxyCharm this month.

Reply ButtonReply

nana

I’m getting 3 boxes this month – I couldn’t pass up on the $1 deal – and I’m not unhappy with my boxes. Then again, I only paid $1 for each. Altogether I’m getting:

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow X2
Vasanti scrub
real chemistry peel
Dr. Jart Ceramidin cream
Supergoop sunscreen X2
COOLA sunscreen
Number 4 detangler
Catherine Malandrino perfume
Compotir Sud Pacific perfume
Folle de Joie perfume
pony tail holder
hair clip X2
Marcelle mini eye-pencil X3

All in all, the only things I don’t want are the Real Chemistry peel (made in China), the Catherine Malandrino perfume (don’t like the scent) and the 3 mini eye-liners. I’m sure there will be a lot available to swap, so I’ll probably just give them away to my daughters’ friends.

The Vasanti scrub is awesome!! I got it as a sample in my May Birchbox and bought the full size right away. It’s gentle so it doesn’t scratch or irritate but it makes your skin glow. Seriously great stuff!

Reply ButtonReply

PattyK

Agreed, I love the Vasanti scrub! Even though I purchase the full size regularly, I don’t ever mind getting a sample. They are great to have in a travel bag for trips!

Jessica

I haven’t gotten my box yet but I know what is in it.
Claudalie Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid
Dr. Jart Dermaclear Microwater (my sample pick)
Klorane Shampoo and Conditioner with Mango Butter
Clean Fresh LAundry Parfum,
L. Erickson Grab & Go Pony Tube, which I am assuming is just one or two pony tail holders not the entire tube
Marcelle Mini Waterproff Eyeliner Travel kit on my site it lists it as a kit but I am assuming it’s a single mini eyeliner not the entire kit based on the comments.

Overall I’m okay with the box. I’ll get use of the pony tail holders, I’m actually excited to try the parfum, usually I’m not. Many scents trigger migrains for me so I have to be really careful and the perfume samples I’ve received in the past smelled awful. However I love clean soapy cotton scents so hopefully this will be a winner for me. I’m excited to try the microwater. Shampoo and conditioner is meh for me but it will be used. Kinda scared about the bright blue eyeliner, I don’t think that will work for me but I can give that to my step daughter. As for the Claudalie thing, I’ve no clue what that is so hopefully that will be a great discovery this month?

Reply ButtonReply

Desiree

i received the following:
Beauty Proctector-protect & detangle
Coola SPF 30 cucumber moisturizer for face
Marcelle BB cream
Marcelle eyeliner – blue (I was looking forward to the Eeyko liner!)
Hydro firming eye gels
Emi Jay hair tie

I’ve been with BB for 7 months and I’m really on the fence with their boxes. This box is just ok for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

I agree, I wanted the Eyeko liner. I’m ok with trying the Marcelle, but I definitely don’t want blue.

Reply ButtonReply

Crg2008

My box had the micro water(my sample choice), the hair tie in baby blue, templespa shampoo and conditioner, the little eyeliner in mulberry, and the 3 minute chemistry peel. This is my 3rd month with BB and I have yet to be disappointed. If I don’t like/want a product my mother gladly takes them. Lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Amberlyn

I’m hoping my box is just like yours! I haven’t even been able to sneek a peek at mine yet 🙁 but going through YouTube vids I see just about everyone getting the same stuff so I’m hopeful! I’d love that BB cream and the eyeliner, also there is an awesome hair clip I’d be thrilled with!

Reply ButtonReply

Mona

I wish I got your box! I got shampoo and conditioner samples AGAIN! The same eye liner, eye packets the coola and a hair tie but not as nice as yours! Was a different material ;(

Reply ButtonReply

tara

sounds like i got the same box as you. the shampoo i got smells very masculine and i do not like it. the sunscreen is ok. my card says that my hair tie is a fun colorful extra. its brown : )
eye liner was blue…i dont mind the blue but it says its waterproof. i sampled it on my hand and it smudged everywhere. how can it be waterproof and totally smudgeable ? i guess they are not the same but i would prefer no smudge vs waterproof.

Reply ButtonReply

LS

I swatched “indigo” on my wrist and had to scrub hard to get it off. I also got “mulberry”, but I didn’t swatch it.

Cindy

I already have mine and it is definitely not waterproof.

Kristina

For the first time ever I got the exact same box as Liz. I am happy with it, and items that I don’t use I always swap or give to family members to try. I feel like I got good value for my money.
