The Ox Box Subscription Review – May 2015

The Oxford Trunk is an online boutique that sells very funky ladies' clothing and accessories. I love their style! They have a subscription box that I have been a fan of for some time now, but they recently changed their whole subscription model! It used to be a quarterly subscription, and now it's monthly. Also, you now have a choice among:

* Boho, preppy, girlie, and classic styles
* Large (3-5 items with a retail value of at least $85) or small (1-2 items with a retail value of at least $30, no clothing)
* Pierced ears or non-pierced

This review is of the small girlie box for pierced ears.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

ox-box-may-postcard

This postcard was included. It gives some idea of the types of items they sell in their boutique, but no information about the specific items included in the box. On the reverse side of the card is their social media information, plus a coupon code for 10% off your next purchase!

ox-box-may-sticker

This little sticker was in the box, but I'm not 100% sure why since the information is out of date.

My goodies all came in this little jewelry box. I immediately thought of good things coming in small packages!

ox-box-may-earrings

One of the goodies in the little box was this pair of dainty gold earrings with peach colored beads. They are very pretty and understated. I think I will get a lot of use out of these!

The other piece was this gorgeous matching necklace! I LOVE multi-strand necklaces so much! The little gold chains are so delicate, and the peach-colored beads are beautifully spaced. I will definitely get a lot of use out of this piece as well.

Here's an idea of how it looks on. It has been raining here a lot lately, so I apologize for the dimness, but I just had to include a picture of the necklace on a model. It hangs just perfectly. The spacing of the beads gives it a slightly unusual shape, and I completely adore that!

Verdict: I loved both pieces, and I definitely feel like they were well worth the $20. The pieces are not listed on their website, so I'm not sure about retail value, but I feel like the value is definitely there. I read somewhere that the pieces in these boxes sometimes show up on their website later, so I'm wondering if these are samples that they get beforehand? In any case, I feel like these pieces were very girly, which was my selection for this month, and so pretty. This box was definitely a win for me!

What do you think of the Ox Box?

I signed up for this box, got one and never got a second one. I emailed them to see what was up, and they said it wasn’t a subscription box and you had to place a new order for each box. Their website still clearly says it’s a subscription box. I think they have the concept of a subscription box confused with a mystery box.

Agreed. 😉

Lovely earrings and the matching necklace is cute, too. I wish they had an option to choose gold or silver because I rarely wear gold. I really like the stuff in the online shop and I’m super curious about what comes in a large box.

I agree about silver vs gold! If we could choose, I might try this.

If you search Ox Box here, Anna reviewed a large boho box back in January 🙂

Thanks Lauren!

Thanks, Lauren. I can’t believe I missed it considering how often I stalk this site!

How cute! I’m starting to “get over” beauty subs so something new and fresh is welcome. Just ordered a large boho box to try them out.

Eep! I ordered a large boho box too! I am such the sub junkie… I got a strange little stretchy “one size” top that I think is for layering (I hope). I also got a chain belt and a body chain! So… Expect the unexpected… I like strange pieces, though, so I was really happy.

Oh my goodness. I would’ve subbed to the large boho box if I tried this, but would’ve not been interested in any of the three items you described. Maybe I just need to ignore this urge to give Ox Box a try.
