(I had received a few requests to review this box again - so I'm picking up after the November box).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Book

Moon Handbooks Montana & Wyoming - Value $15.50

Rocky Mountain Root Beer - Value $3

This month's theme is the Rocky Mountains. They are still including a book in each box, but now the info brochure is emailed to subscribers instead of included in the box.

I love the design of the label on this Root Beer bottle! I'm sure my husband will love the root beer too.

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Chocolate

Stash Bar - Value $2.79

Howdy Bar in Dark Chocolate with Almonds - Value $3.50

Dirty Diana Preserves - Value $2

So far I've sampled the chocolate bar and I'm a fan! (It was the right amount of sweet and didn't make me miss milk chocolate like dark chocolate bars usually do!)

The jam looks good, and I think my husband will love the Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Stash Bar.

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – May 2015 SPF

The Spirit Goat Goat's Milk Lotion in Bear Lake Raspberries - 4 oz Value $4.50

I'm impressed with the size of this sample. Unfortunately, the added raspberry fragrance isn't for me.

Adventure Ecopack NAAWK SPF 30 Sunscreen Lotion - Value $5

I like the carabiner addition to this sunscreen! It's perfect just to attach to your beach bag.

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Soap

Sierra Nevada Soap Company in Rosemary Lavender - Value $6.50

Salus Bath Bombs in Mountain Mint - Value $3

These are my two favorite items in the box. The scents are amazing! I always love a great natural lavender soap, and the bath bomb is so wonderfully minty!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $47. That's within the range of what I expect for this box at the $39.95 a month price. I'm also happy with the mix of products they picked for May, and I can't wait to use my Bath Bomb! What do you think of the May Escape Monthly Box?

What a nice box!

I’m happy to see Salus represented — their very first store is just down the block from my where I used to live and it’s simply HEAVENLY to walk into the shop!

I bought last month’s box because I love Japanese art and culture (plus it was half off.) I wasn’t terribly impressed with the contents as most of them felt pretty cheap. But the bf loved the chopsticks and the book on Japanese culture was enough to validate buying the box for me.

I canceled right after I got last month’s box, but I didn’t do so in time to avoid this month’s. Lo and behold, it was actually a pretty good box! I really liked the chocolate bar and the bf actually really liked the soap (hee!) He also got the root bear (loved the look of the label!) and sunscreen. I wasn’t super crazy about the bath bomb; it’s scent filled the box. But the rest was quite good! The products didn’t seem cheap at all this time. 🙂

This looks like a fairly nice box but I think I will wait for a few more reviews before I resubscribe.

I got the key chain too Liz did you not get that?

Liz I just realized there was supposed to be a wooden carved keychain from the national parks in your box. I think it had a $12 value.

Thanks for picking up with Escape Monthly again! I love the bar of soap they included. I have in under my sink, waiting until I finish my current bar, but the whole area under the sink smells link lavender now, and I love it! I enjoyed the stash bar and the chocolate bar but I don’t like any root beer so I didn’t drink that.
The books are nice but I’m really just hoarding them up for now, I don’t even read them. If by chance I get one for somewhere that I’m planning to travel I will definitely read it.
I saw on Facebook that next month will be Vancouver Canada. I was there a couple of years ago and I’m excited for the box. I wonder if they will include a maple product, since Canada is famous for maple, but maple doesn’t come from Western Canada! But they do sell it there. Just wondering.

Ooh, I love Canadian maple candy, so I hope they choose to add some! 😀

This is one of my absolute favorite sub boxes! I get the luxe version and have been happy every month with the variety of products. It’s such a fun box to open. I wish they would put the item description brochures back in the boxes though. I highly recommend this box.

I miss the brochures, too. Looking at an email isn’t the same as having something in your hand to look at as you’re unboxing! 🙂

I’m happy you are reviewing this again too! I started my subscription with the Hawaiian box but I think they have greatly improved the boxes since then. This was a great one too! I get the Luxe version which has 4-5 more items and I’ve been very pleased.

Mary, over these past few months, what have your extra “luxe box” items been? Through my sub, I’ve received the regular Australia, Japan, and Rocky Mountain boxes, and I’m curious to know what the upgrade would have added to those assortments. 🙂

Yay! I’m so glad you’re reviewing Escape Monthly again. I think the boxes this year are a lot better than last year’s. I loved the dark chocolate bar. It was creamier and less bitter than dark chocolate usually is! Even the people in our house that do not like dark chocolate loved it. 🙂 I really liked the scent of the raspberry lotion! It was very moisturizing, too. 🙂
