Target Beauty Box Review - Spring 2015 Lip

Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip Color in Rose Redefined - FULL SIZE! Value $5.50

This is a very shiny and creamy formula, and super moisturizing too. It's not a full-color lip product - which I prefer typically when it comes to lip glosses. The applicator is great too.

Target Beauty Box Review - Spring 2015 Spray

L'Oreal® Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray - FULL SIZE! Value $13.29

The card doesn't list this as full size, but it is full-sized! I just tried it out and I like how quickly it dries without any tackiness. It gets great reviews too, so I'm thinking I will use it a lot. If I could change anything about it, I'd just make the mist a little finer.

TRESemme TRES Two Extra Hold Aerosol Hair Spray - 1.5 oz Value $1.50

This hairspray is supposed to give maximum hold without stiffness or stickiness. I'm always a little skeptical about hairspray claims like that, so I had to test it immediately. There is no stickiness, but as I would suspect, a little stiffness in my hair. (I've yet to find a hairspray that manages to hold everything in place without any stiffness, so that's fine with me).

Target Beauty Box Review - Spring 2015 Shea

SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo - 3.2 oz Value $2.70

I really like the SheaMoisture brand, and this shampoo is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, etc.!

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream - .25 oz Value $2.65

This product is designed to absorb quickly like a gel, but moisturize like a cream. I tried it out on my hand, and it does absorb very quickly, but it didn't leave my skin too moisturized. I would recommend it as a light moisturizer if you are looking for one that dries with a matte finish.

Verdict: I think this is another great Target Beauty Box. I paid $5 (with free shipping) for this box, and received a little over $25 worth of beauty products. I'm very happy with the value, but I don't know where they got the advertised $38 value from. The only thing I can think of is that on the main Target Beauty Box page, they show the Hydro Boost Gel Cream for Eyes (not what was sent), and if that was sent in the box it would have a value of about $9 (The full-size version is .5 oz).

Regardless, I'm happy and I think I'll use everything in this box! What do you think of the latest Target Beauty Box? Were you able to snag one before they sold out?

Loved the shampoo and it is now a “favorite”. Worth it just for that. Great Box. I also loved my Walmart box:)

I found bottles and bottles of the L’Oreal® Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray in the mark down bin at Kroger for $7 a few weeks ago.

I really liked my box, it came just in time (actually just after) my birthday. Shampoo & lipgloss were great, the other items were nice bonuses for me. I was very happy with everything and I am looking forward to the next box they offer.

My box was missing the Neutrogena sample 🙁

Haven’t received my box yet so I just looked at the shipping and it says it came to the Portland sort ( where I live) but then went on to federal way Washington. That’s so strange, it came here but did not ship out. I wonder why it has to make a trip hours away, only to come right back here. Seems totally wasted

Wow, I will actually use every single thing in the box and I don’t say that often with any of the 8 boxes I currently subscribe to. Target kicks Walmart’s butt and I wish they’d do a monthly box. The price cannot be beat. If you actually use the $3 coupon, the box ends up being $2. Practically free.

I just received my box and my setting spray spilled about 1/4. I immediately tried it and liked it. it set pretty fast on my face and it’s very lightweight. I haven’t washed my hair since I don’t do it often and will use the shampoo tonight. Like above someone said the lipgloss is amazing. It has a clear shimmer to it that makes your lips shine like the commercial when you have good lighting. The coupon from Target is a bonus. The Dermstore coupon is ok since they always have coupon codes available. Check out their Tuesday 2 for 1.

The part that bothers me is not the people that post the boxes on the swap page because they’d originally intended for it to be for someone else or etc, but the ones who purposely buy more than one box JUST to turn around and put it on the swap page. I, only have 2 subscriptions and don’t really have items people are looking for to swap. So I’d boil down to “can I pay you for the box?” But hello, thats wjat I’d wanted to do originally on target.com. Not try to buy off people cause they were selfish.
And as I said before, not ranting about anyone that had original intentions for the box to go elsewhere. I’m just cranky because I missed the box and wanted to try the Infallible Spray.

Heads up on the DermStore coupon it’s only good for $50+ Purchases .Tried to use it today. Didn’t see anything on the coupon that stated a minimum purchase. Also the Target coupon expires 5/17. Used that today successfully for LaNeige that I fell in love with in my last Target Beauty Box…

Just got my box! SUPER Quick shipping- its like they had them all ready to go and were just waiting to slap on labels because they knew they would sell out quickly!!! Thanks again to Liz for the heads up email- otherwise I am sure I would have been too late. This is my first Target Beauty Box I was able to get in time. I have been wanting to try to make up setting spray so that alone was worth the price plus. Can’t believe it was full size so cool! The Tresemme hair spray is the exact kind I use so I am more than happy to have a small size of that. The lip gloss was a nice surprise for me – I wasn’t sure what to expect but I got lucky and its looks awesome on me. I will use the shampoo for traveling. The face cream not so excited but my mom will appreciate it. Such a great deal Target!!!

Not QUITE as awesome as the xmas box… but still great for $5. Like others, I love the lip gloss.

Hoping for another men’s box! My boys loved theirs at xmas…

I love the Target boxes, it’d be so amazing if they did a monthly box. I bought two one for me and one for my sister but I might end up keeping both lol. I like the L’Oreal lipgloss better from last time, but overall fantastic box!

This box is amazing for $5!! I wish Target would offer a monthly subscription! Lol! And this is off topic, but Liz, I LOVE this website! I appreciate all your honest reviews, and the time that you take to send out the email alerts, if it wasn’t for the Target email I probably would’ve missed out. And also, I think it’s nice you started doing YouTube videos!Love it!! 🙂

I bought extra Target boxes, thinking they’d make great gifts for my six nieces and my daughter, who are ALL in their twenties. This is the first time I’ve even been able to purchase a Target box and I had no idea they would sell out so quickly. I did buy a couple extra ones, thinking that they’d make fun gifts for friends, too.

I just started on the swap site and I ended up listing a couple of my boxes, thinking they’d make for good swaps. I’ve swapped so many items lately, my available list was pretty paltry. However, after I read some of the comments on here, I realized I’d made a big mistake.

I apologize. I honestly didn’t buy extra boxes to have them to swap. I bought them because even though my immediate family is very small, my extended family is quite large and buying presents for everyone gets so expensive. I also didn’t have any idea that Target would sell out of them so quickly. However, I can see my listing boxes that were sold out was in very poor taste and could only appear selfish and short-sighted. And it was – selfish and short-sighted.

So, thanks to whomever it was who brought up this up for discussion. While I do want to take advantage of these opportunities to score inexpensive and fun gifts for my daughter and nieces, I will be mindful about not purchasing more than I absolutely need or can use. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and think you need more, more, more – and I’m often guilty of this.

I appreciate these discussion forums – because even though it’s a bit discomforting, I need to be told when I’m getting too caught up in the material aspect of all of this and forgetting that all of these products, whether they be home, bath, beauty, whatever – are really just meant to be a means to enrich our lives and the lives of those we love.

Hi Yogamom67, I will speak for myself and say that I don’t think that it was wrong of you at all. I will explain why I don’t think you should feel bad…you got on the site and you bought them when they were available. You bought them for gifts which is the perfect price for a great gift. I have 2 girls, 2 nieces, a mom, a mother-in-law and 2 sister-in-laws that would love this so I could easily want to buy several. I know some people were upset in general with those that bought more than the 2 Target let them order at one time but I don’t think that is always wrong. I commented that I think it was frustrating that people ordered several specifically or only because they knew they were hard to get and therefore became a coveted item. They bought them with no intention on using anything from the box & put straight up to trade. I can’t use 2 of the items in the box, I have yet to trade anything, but I would trade 2 of the 5 items. Some people like my mom ordered 2 boxes thinking I may miss out but I got mine she has an extra box. If she wanted to trade the whole box I think is fine to do so. I don’t think that your intention was bad at all and unfortunately for some this is one of those things that if you were lucky enough to buy them before they sold out then thats a win for you. I hope that makes some sense and wasn’t too much rambling but I just wanted you to know that I for one don’t think you should feel bad at all. Enjoy your good luck and give those gifts that I’m sure will be much appreciated. I think it’s nice of you to think of those others to give gifts. I’m a mom of 6 and I am all about getting a good bargain when it comes to gift buying because otherwise it can be very hard to buy much at all to give.

Thank you for the kind responses. I have enjoyed giving these boxes as gifts. I’d originally bought them for my nieces, daughter, and two friends, but have since come up with a whole list of people I want to give one to. It’s a great way to brighten up someone’s day and they are so thrilled to receive something just for themselves.

I think one of the reasons we (women, mom’s especially) go so crazy for these subscription boxes is because we spend so much of our time taking care of everyone else in our lives – our partners, our children, our parents, etc. I know that I spend hours trying to find the perfect gift for my Mother-in-law, aunt, husband, etc. And while it may not have been everyone’s cup of tea, when I opened the first Prospurly box, I felt like someone had actually taken the time to pick out a gift just for me. I know this is silly – they didn’t, of course.

However, these subscription boxes are targeting women – many of us in our 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s – in the prime of their lives, but stretched thin to the nth degree. It’s nice to know that someone out there is focused on figuring out on what we want and is intent on delivering it! I adore my husband and he would do absolutely anything for me, but he can’t buy me a present to save his life (unless I pick it out, order it, wrap it, deliver it, you get the idea).

Anyways, thanks for the comments. I do appreciate your understanding and I am going to try to not be so sub crazy – although the I have positively sucked at it this month (PopSugar, Fancy, Glossy, Birchbox)!

Marissa

I entirely agree with Katiemama6x. I bought 2 boxes before looking up the ingredients for these items and if they all or even just the high ticket items had parabens then I would place these up for swaps. Your intention wasn’t to buy these and swap them for the Retail value on the swap site, it was gifts! There is nothing selfish about that. Many people on this site are subbed to boxes where they have two accounts whether it be ipsy or birchbox or even little lace box (which has a waitlist). If people can put up whole boxes on the swap site so can you! It’s not like you bought ALL the boxes as well. I haven’t been able to get an Allure Beauty box once yet because people snatch them up so quick and immediately after I see posts where people are putting multiple boxes on the swap site. Plus you are absolutely correct that these make a great gift! the box itself is gorgeous this time and so well packaged I wish I bought a few for gifts as well!

Karina

I haven’t completely read this post but I’m excited. I ordered two just in case I liked the products too much. Who could resist at an amazing price of $5 each. with free shipping at that.

I’m so glad I saw Liz’s post in time to get this box! I actually ordered 2 in case they sent 2 different lip colors. Still waiting to get my Swap invite but once I do I will likely put one complete box and the lip color from the other one up. In the mean time I can be emailed at [email protected] if anyone that missed the box really wants it.

Liz — as far as hairspray goes, have you ever tried Nexxus Frizz Defy Hairspray? It’s got great holding power, but doesn’t make your hair crunchy AT ALL and it smells amazinggggggg. You should give it a try!

Sadly, I didn’t hear about this until it was sold out =/ Looks like a great box…hopefully next time!

I’ve been wanting to try that makeup setting spray, to see if it is similar to Urban Decay’s version like some people claim. I would have been happy with that alone if I had gotten this box, but none of the other items would have interested me.

Jennifer

I was only interested in trying out the setting spray as well, and I’m glad I got the box considering it comes with a full sized spray for way less than full price!!!

I purchased 2 boxes. I was very pleased, so was my 22 year old daughter.
Definately better than the walmart box.
I was able to purchase this Target box because Liz posted a reminder. THANKS Liz : )

Liz, I wondered if you have tried the Elnet hairspray? I don’t really wear hair spray anymore but got a few free cans of Elnet attached to my hair dye boxes a while back. It seemed to work fairly well without stiffness. I may not be the best judge though because I used to actively seek out the stiffness that the old-school Aqua Net in the white can used to deliver, (dating myself I’m sure, but in the 90’s it was the thing in my area lol). I know I’ve said this before but it’s worth mentioning again, thank you and your crew for doing all these reviews. 🙂

I missed this one – had been checking nearly daily for months but didn’t on the 13th and then on the 14th it was already gone. I still hope to try again next time they come out, though I never received the one I ordered in October while it was in stock (Target support kept telling me it would be sent but never shipped it, and then wanted to refund me – After I declined the refund they did give me 2 products from the box but I still felt a bit cheated) I am still waiting on my spring Walmart box as well – have been having very bad luck with these boxes.

I bought one for me and one for my mother for Mother’s Day. I think it’s a great value since I like the hairspray and wanted to try a new makeup setting spray. The lipgloss is “ok” but I love the applicator shape and feel so I may layer it over lipstick. I hope there’s a men’s one again, loved that one. Also, I wish Target did a home and beauty mix one!
