New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Box

New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great. (FYI – this is a different subscription from the QVC New Beauty Test Tube which is no longer shipping).

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Blogger

The first thing I noticed when I opened up the info booklet is that the format has changed! For the May box, they feature 3 different bloggers (including MizzFit Bianca Jade!). Throughout the booklet, each blogger explains why they like one of the items:

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Dr Brandy

Dr. Brandt Skincare | Needles No More - .085 oz Value $15

I read the reviews of this on Sephora before I tried it, and it seems to be a miracle product for some, and not work at all for others. The great thing about this product is that it is supposed to work instantly, so you'll know from one use of this sample whether or not it is worth a full-size investment in the future.

I love that it is paraben, phthalate, and sulfate free, and it was one of the first products I tried after opening this box. I didn't find the formula irritating at all, and it left no film on my skin. (I had tried a similar instant wrinkle reducer product before, and it left a bit of a white residue which made makeup application a pain). The scent is a subtle minty one, and I think I noticed a slight reduction of wrinkles. Not enough for me to buy the full size version, but I'll definitely use up the rest of this sample.

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Its a 10

It’s a 10 | Silk Express Miracle Leave-In - 2 oz Value $11

This is half the size of the full-size version, and I can't wait to try it. I've sampled the original It's A 10 leave-in spray, and I was amazed by how soft it left my hair, so I would think the silk version should mean even softer hair!

Hada Labo Tokyo | Replenishing Hydrator - FULL SIZE! Value $16

I was expecting this to be a cream moisturizer, but it actually is a clear gel! It absorbs quickly and provides a good amount of hydration. (I also like that it is fragrance-free). I think this is a nice moisture-cream alternative for the summer if you're looking for something light!

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Eyelid

Lids By Design (9 pairs of 4 mm, 10 pairs of 3 mm) Value $15

This product is designed to give the look of an instant eye-lift. I tried it out and couldn't really notice a different, so either I'm using it wrong or don't need it yet. Make sure to check out the video of how to apply the strips if you're going to use these!

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Mask

Patchology | Hydrate FlashMasque Facial Sheet - Value $6.25

This mask is supposed to give you a ton of hydration in only five minutes - I love a mask that doesn't take much time. I'll be using this soon!

glo therapeutics | Gentle Cream Cleanser - 2 oz - Value $11

Another product I'm excited to try! This cleaner is designed for sensitive skin, and it is free of dyes, fragrance, parabens, gluten, nuts and soy!

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Tan Towel

Tan Towel | Combo Pack - Value $8?

This set includes: 1 classic self-tan towelette, 1 plus self-tan towelette, 1 face tan towelette and 1 X-foliator towelette.

This is the only item in the box that I wasn't too excited about since I've received Tan Towels from New Beauty Test Tube in the past.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $82.25. That's more than double the cost of the box, so I'm pretty happy with the value (though some past boxes have had higher values). I'm more impressed with the curation for this box though! Almost all the products are new to New Beauty Test Tube, and as someone who has been subscribing for years I was getting frustrated with the repeat brands and products. I'm really happy with the changes in this box, and I hope they continue for future boxes.

What do you think of the May New Beauty Test Tube?

This is a new subscription for me and I liked this box. Just wondering if everyone gets all the same products or if everyone may get something different, like with Birchbox and Ipsy?

I have been getting the New Beauty testtube for about 4 yrs.,started with the qvc version, and am about to cancel. In the last year and a half I have had Tan Towels 4 times and Miracle 10 hair products 3 times. Don’t like either product. I have also already tried the Needles No More, deluxe sample kit from Sephora, didn’t do a thing for me. I am interested in the sheet mask and the moisturizer. I have saved all the booklets so I know when I’ve received a repeat.

This test tube was my second one and I am thoroughly impressed! In the last few months I have tried Birchbox, Ipsy, Glossybox, Beauty Box 5, Eco Emi, Goodebox, Boxycharm, etc., and this test tube is the best out of any box or boxes I have ever received. One of the main reasons I’m so happy with it is that it includes products that are FRAGRANCE FREE! Thank God! Someone is finally realizing that we don’t need scented crap to put on our face. This is why I’m a Clinique lifer and why I’m so excited to try pretty much everything in my test tube! Thank you New Beauty! 🙂

This is my first test tube in a while and I’m very happy with it. I was really tired of repeats (hello Mally!) so I took a break for the last 6 months or so. When I saw the Needles No More I was sold based on the fact it’s been on my “to test” list for ages and the full price is pretty steep. I never get excited for hair products but somehow I haven’t tried this brand yet (impressive considering how many beauty subs I’ve tried in the last 2+ years) so I’m happy with it. I’m also excited about the eye lift product. It’s doubtful women not yet in their late 30s would need such a product but everyone has different issues. I’m always up for testing a new beauty product. The Tan Towels always get put to good use (I’m a year round self tanner and use these whenever I run out of tan solution for my Luminesse airbrush system). I’m also excited to try the Hada Labo gel moisturizer. I’ve used their sheet masks in the past and like them a lot. The cleanser is a new brand to me so even though it’s not very exciting getting cleansers I’m ok with it. And since I’m a mask junkie I’m glad to see a new brand included. With the discount code and a free shipping deal I only just over $20. Totally worth it!

I was excited for the new products but disappointed no bonus items this month! I think this is the first test tube I’ve received without those. I did like the bloggers addition to the booklet but would rather receive additional surprise items. Called customer service…they advised they were surprised too and thought it was an editorial decision.

I’ve always wanted to try the new beauty test tube, but it never looks that fantastic. This tube looks terrible, most products I’ve received in other sub boxes, nothing new or exiting, I would’ve been mad had I paid for this. The only thing I would’ve liked is the Dr. Brandt.

I have really liked 2 out of 4 that I have received. My first two test tubes (last fall/winter) I loved!!!!
Last 2 have disappointed though 🙁

Glad I canceled after the John Frieda Test Tube (as I refer to it)! Not a single makeup product, and a pile of skincare products that this 34 year old with oily skin would not be able to use! I do love the It’s a 10 Silk, however I already have a full size bottle, so I am relieved I saved the $40 on this one! I will gladly try to swap for the It’s a 10, as it is a product I would love to have a stockpile of!
