POPSUGAR Boxes Sold Out!

First to clarify what I mean by sold out: Please note that any sold out boxes are in reference to new subscribers only. Any subscriber that has an active subscription, and their payment is up to date, is set to receive a May 2015 box.

May POPSUGAR Must Have Boxes have sold out, and you can now sign up for the June box. (Make sure to use coupon code MUSTHAVE5 to save $5 off your first box).

There’s a chance you can still get the May box if you want it – when you check out you’ll see the “Get on the wait list…” box is checked. If you’d like to possibly receive the May, don’t uncheck the box. And if you want your subscription to start with the June box, make sure to uncheck the box.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Popsugar is just *saying* that their boxes are sold out so that it gives the illusion of high demand & forces people to subscribe quicker? Or is this time of year just really popular for Popsugar?

I think they re-structured their business model from last year’s disaster. I noticed they had their boxes on sale at the end of almost every month; which, rightfully so, angered those who paid full price and long-time subscribers. This was probably because they over-estimated demand and had surplus boxes that had to go on sale causing complications for their next-month supply forecast. A lot of people waited for these discounts to pull the trigger thus devaluing the box. My guess is they are trying to narrow supply so they (1) can sell their entire inventory, (2) are preserving the value to the box by not offering a lot of discounts and (3) “train” customers to order early facilitating their inventory controls.

That sounds about right

…and perhaps (4) create artificial increase in demand. We usually want what we can’t get. 😉

Jill

I’m sure that’s it – a scam to trick people or maybe it’s just sold out.

When I signed up it said March was sold out, but I signed up for the wait list, sure enough I ended up getting a March box after all.

I have a question. My sub ends in May and I have a free box available from referring but I have no idea how to use it. Does anyone know how or if I can even use it? It says my next billing will be in June but I know it’ll be sold out by then.

This is my all time favorite box, and if I could only get one box a month, this would be it. For the April box, I was skeptical about a couple of the items and I planned to list them as swaps or on eBay, but once I got everything, I decided to keep it all. I couldn’t part with anything.
I bought the November and December boxes for crazy cheap, then I bought a 3 month sub with a coupon code. Now I paid the full asking price for a 6 month renewal (horror!). I tried the $5 off but it wouldn’t let me, oh well.

I subscribed to PopSugar for about 4 months when it first started, and it was a nice treat for awhile. I was able to use or gift all the items and the value was always there but I didn’t feel like anything was a “must have.” I don’t think I got anything that I wasn’t already familiar with brand-wise. It felt a little like getting very nice but generic gifts from someone who didn’t know me well. I was hoping for more original, knew-to-me items and found that it didn’t really deliver what I was expecting.

I really enjoyed getting a deal on PSMH boxes leading up to Christmas. I’m not someone who buys presents for herself so there’s no way I would sub year round, but I love it as a source of gifts for others. I bought boxes when I saw full spoilers, with discounts, and when I saw that there were items that my friends & relatives would love receiving. After the gifts, I ended up keeping some fun things, selling and swapping the rest and now I feel almost guilty about how little $ I spent on their gifts… but they’ll never know!

Both my March and April boxes were mis-delivered by the Post Office. PSMH was nice enough to send me a new March box, but I didn’t want to overdo it and ask for another April box, because it really wasn’t their fault, but they are willing to give me a refund. I’m still trying to figure out what is going on with the Post Office and this particular subscription!!! They’ve been rotating mailmen for the past few weeks. I need my reliable little old man back ASAP. I’m sad I didn’t get the umbrella, I was really looking forward to it. 🙁

I don’t get all of the hype around the Popsugar Must Have Boxes. I’ve read several of Liz’s reviews and viewed their site more than once, I personally don’t see anything that special about it. I’ve subscribed to 10+ subs since I started my sub madness with Fabletics at the end of last year and I have passed on this one every time…

Oh well, maybe I’ll see one of their boxes one day that actually appeals to me – of course it won’t matter then because it will be sold out…lol

I totally agree. I keep looking at the contents and they don’t excite me at all. Other boxes are so much more fun for that amount of money.

Which ones? I’d like to check out other lifestyle boxes.

Sheera

They’re okay. A little too cutesy sometimes. The reasons they’re selling out seems to have to do with the company scaling back supply a few months ago. There used to be a time when demand was much lower than supply, but I think they figured out how low supply should go so that these boxes sell out and look extra popular.

That’s the same exact thought I have about the Popsugar must have box! I don’t see all the hype surrounding it…I just subscribed to 2 new beauty subscription boxes but every time I see a review of popsugar box I’m not impressed at all with the contents in them…maybe one day if I see a box that actually appeals to me! But I just don’t see that coming anytime soon…and this box is one of the more pricey subscription boxes interesting they don’t have better contents in them. My fave box is Boxycharm always has been probably always will be such great full size awesome products for such an amazing price…that I love!

I didn’t really get it either until I subscribed, and now, if I HAD to give up every other box (nightmare) and only keep one sub, it would definitely be PS. The variety and value are always there, and even on the months when the spoilers don’t necessarily blow my skirt up, once I have the box in my hands the thing I wasn’t that excited about inevitably ends up being my favorite thing in the box.

CJ

It’s difficult to compare a lifestyle box to a beauty box. But PopSugar does have full size items too.

Helen

That’s the odd thing about Popsugar, you don’t know you want the items until you have them.
I also eyed the box contents somewhat suspiciously for a long time, then finally took advantage of the Black Friday deal. I’ve found that I keep and use far more than I gift – rare for most sub boxes in my case.
I will actually sign up at full price ‘shock, horror!’ beginning in June when my deal is up.
