Thanks Heather for letting us know about this late-night subscription grab! 20
Are you going to try to grab one? I'm a little obsessed with book subscription boxes, so I think I'll try to get one!

Not much of an apology in my opinion. I feel like OWL Crate really took advantage of their customers and their “apology” and “solution” are basically worthless. They didn’t want to be out any money on those twenty extra boxes they had around, but have now charged innocent book lovers thousand of dollars for a product that they advertised and now have no intention of delivering.
I realize that their website had issues, but they are the owners of the company and as such, are RESPONSIBLE FOR the website and and errors incurred. They absolutely need to make more of an effort to make this up to the hundreds of people that stayed up until the wee hours of the morning and paid OWL Crate their hard earned money. A blanket apology doesn’t cut it. Remember, they have their money. We don’t have ours.
I am one of the DOUBLY UNFORTUNATE subscribers. I was charged for TWO OWL Crate subscriptions (I received an error message instead of a confirmation page when I tried to subscribe on my IPad, so I tried again on my laptop and did receive a confirmation page). When I woke up this morning, I saw I’d subscribed twice! No big deal, that happens sometimes – I knewI could cancel the error end subscription. And then I got the message that neither subscription was good for the April box, as promised. Now I am out $400, until OWL Crate gets around to refunding my money.
On the fence about this. Looked like a great subscription and I totally love books, but the way the owners have handled this speaks volumes. “Oops, we’re sorry. It’s not our fault,” doesn’t cut it with me.
Over two hundred people wasted several hundred hours trying to sign up for this subscription last night. Remember, eventually, the subscription did close. We could have all used that time in a much more productive manner. I hope the owners will put at least a few more hours of their own time into thinking about what they REALLY need to do to make this up to everyone who put their faith in OWL crate last night and were completely let down.

So disappointed in OWL Crate. Received this email from them this morning:
At 10:00PM PST on April 10th, 2015 we opened up our website to accept new subscriptions because we had 20 more boxes available to our hopeful customers. We had absolutely NO idea as to the amount of people who would be waiting at their computers, and although we deactivated our checkout almost immediately, way too many orders made their way through. In the span of two minutes we had nearly 200 people sign up to OwlCrate! Now we are stuck in a bit of a pickle, since we only had 20 left over boxes.
The first 20 people who placed an order at 10pm will receive the APRIL box. You are being contacted because we sadly can NOT provide you with an April box. We are SO sorry about this. However, since there are only 11 days before we were planning on opening subscriptions for the MAY box (subscriptions open on April 21st), we’re providing you with the following options:
If you would like a full refund immediately (i.e. if you were set on receiving April’s ‘All the Feels’ box), please respond to this email stating so. We are completely happy to do this, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience.
If you are happy waiting for the May box and want to remain subscribed to OwlCrate, we will keep your subscription active and this means you will be GUARANTEED the MAY box (shipping May 20th). This is the current state of your OwlCrate account and if you have any issue whatsoever with this please respond to this email. NB: You will NOT be re-billed on May 1st (next re-billing would take place on June 1st).
We want to stress how truly sorry we are about this mix up. We are blown away by your support of our business and the last thing we would ever want is to let our subscribers down. Please let us know how we can help you moving forward with your account.

I thought I had got it last night, but woke up this morning to an email that said they had 200 orders before they could should the site down, and they could only honor the first 20 orders. They would either refund me or I could keep my subscription, but I won’t get a box until May. So, I guess I’m waiting until May.

Just checked. Subscriptions look like they are all sold out now. But will reopen in 10 days or so.

I got it! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see what’s in the next box. 😀

Yea, me, too! Thanks for letting us know about it! Now, for Indiespensable!!!
Stacy
I got one too! So so excited. I was expecting to have to wait for May. I can’t believe how fast they sold out.
Cristal
I was able to grab one! So excited to try it out.
Deborah
Thank you, I have been wanting this subscription. And I got it, Yay
Katherine
It says it is sold out. And there is no mention of a giveaway. Is this a secret?
Liz Cadman
It isn’t a giveaway, it’s just 20 spots open in the subscription list. They’ve been in waitlist mode. Sorry for any confusion!
