Collectible Geek Collector’s Cache Review – April 2015 Box

Collectible Geek is a relatively new subscription based around Funko Pop Vinyls – my husband’s favorite thing to get in any geeky subscription box!

This box I’m reviewing is the April Collector’s Cache which is "Assemble" themed. (They let you know the theme ahead of time).

My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Collectible Geek Collector’s Cache Review – April 2015 Items

The Subscription Box: Collectible Geek Collector’s Cache

The Cost: $33.50, includes shipping. (FYI – we purchased a 6-month subscription, and with shipping and tax the total came to $201.35, or $33.55 a box).

The Products: “Each Collector’s Cache comes with five meticulously chosen items from the staff at collectibleGEEK, featuring a different theme each month.”

Ships to: US and International (additional shipping costs)

Good to Know About Subscriptions: “This is a 6 month subscription to our Themed Collector’s Cache.  Our subscription works a little different than most do though.  If for any reason you don’t want to receive a month’s theme all you have to do is send an email to [email protected] by the 5th of the month; with your name in it, type SKIP THIS MONTH in the subject line and we will just skip that month for you.”

Collectible Geek Collector’s Cache Review – April 2015 Tee

This is a heavy cotton tee, and made exclusively for Collectible Geek:

Collectible Geek Collector’s Cache Review – April 2015 Hulk

Marvel Superhero Squad Hulk Plush - Value $16

Captain America Socks - Value $7

Our dog called dibs on this hulk plush the second we opened the box! And socks are always a good thing in subscription boxes - maybe my husband will wear these when we go see Age of Ultron!

Collectible Geek Collector’s Cache Review – April 2015 Mini Posters

Lil' Heroes Mini Posters - Value $8?

These are another exclusive item, so I'm not sure on how to price them. (Subscribers will receive 2 out of 4 prints).

Collectible Geek Collector’s Cache Review – April 2015 USB

Iron Man 8 GB USB - Value $7.75

I love that the eyes of this USB glow when you plug it in! It is weird though that it didn't come in original packaging. (I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but the foam the USB is in is heart shaped. And it looks like it scratched against the plastic lid too).

Marvel Thor Keychain - Value $5.75

This isn't the first Thor keychain we've received in a subscription box, but it is the lightest - which is a good thing when you don't want to add too much weight to your keys!

Verdict: I realize they don't guarantee a POP in every box, but since there has been at least one in every other box, I have to admit we were a little disappointed when we opened this box and didn't see anything from Funko! POP withdrawal aside, this box has a value of about $56. (That includes my estimates on some of the exclusive items). I'm happy with the value and the theme, but I hope the May box brings the return of Funko!

What do you think of the April Collectible Geek box?

I have mix feelings about this box. My son asked for the IWIA (I Want It All) box as part of his birthday present. He received what is listed above along with 4 POP figures from the upcoming movie – Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Hulk.

He’s a little disappointed that the Thor hammer is from a previous movie. He could tell from the packaging and that it is copyrighted 2011. I didn’t recognize the brand of socks. It really bothers me that the Iron Man drive was repackaged into something different. Most of this doesn’t matter to him, but to me it seems off.

I would be upset if there were no Pop item. Weird. It’s not a very good box for the price to me. No one in my family wants plushes.
