Citrus Lane is a subscription box for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. (They customize your box to your child’s age and gender). The box I’m reviewing today is for a newborn. (Gender neutral). (Our very good friends are expecting their first child in May, so I’m trying to get them as many helpful newborn products as I can by then!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Citrus Lane Review & Coupon Code – March 2015 Johnson

Johnson’s Baby Head-to-Toe Wash – 9 oz Value $2.50

Johnson’s Baby Bubble Bath – 3 oz Value $2

I was a little surprised to see these in the box – only because in the past Citrus Lane seems to only include smaller, all-natural brands.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $36. I think that’s about typical for Citrus Lane, and I’m good with the value. I think everything in the box will be perfect for a new mom!

What did you get from Citrus Lane this month?

  1. The March box was horrible. There was a baby bow tie way too small for my 7 month old daughter, a snack container for babies way older, and toxic Johnson’s products. I’m canceling my subscription. Previous boxes have been hit and miss, but too much was unacceptable this time.

  2. I got the exact same box for my 4.5 month old son. I think it is more appropriate for a newborn. I have way too many soaps and wash cloths already, and he already has like 5 blankie/lovies. The book is cute, but that is all I like from the box. I was so excited to get the baby bow tie for Easter, but I didn’t get one 🙁 My box didn’t come with that product card either. Overall disappointing for my first box.

  3. Agree–those baby wash cloths are great! And the book looks so sweet.

We’ve been CL subscribers since my son was born and love the boxes! Some months are definitely more exciting than others, but I always enjoy getting new products that I otherwise wouldn’t have ever discovered. Some of our all-time favorite discoveries (like the Skip Hop chime ball and Green Toys stacking cups) have come from CL and are still used constantly!

Drawbacks–some times there are repeat items in the boxes. We’ve only been subscribers for about a year and a half, and I’ve had 3-4 repeat items already. It’s surprising that that happens when the child grows with the boxes. But hey–I guess it’s an item I can regift.

This month, we received the Tweet snack ball (fun!), Melissa and Doug animal magnets (love them, but we have no magnetic surfaces in our house–lol! Must fix that quickly!), and Back to Nature cookies (snack size). The insert in my box also had a baby bow tie listed on it, but it wasn’t in our box. This is the first time I’ve ever had an item missing from our box, so I’ve reached out to customer service. If the bow tie is included, I’d definitely say this month’s box was a big success. If it were just the snack ball and the magnets? Ehhh–definitely pricey for what we received, and a disappointing month in this household. Here’s hoping!

  4. This is our fourth month with Citrus Lane and I really enjoy their monthly boxes. I bought both my daughters 6 month subscriptions as an early Christmas present. My 3 year old daughter and 9 month old daughter both love receiving their boxes each month.

My 3 year olds box contained:
*Reusable Sticker Pad from Melissa and Doug – $4.99
Wallet from Stephen Joseph – $8.99
Custom Apron from Handstand Kids – $20
1oz. Honey Graham Sticks package from Back to Nature – $0.62

So her box was worth about $34.60.

My 9 month olds box contained:
Headband from Baby Bow Tie – $14
**Tweet Snack Ball from Ubbi – $9.99
Wooden Toy from Melissa and Doug – $7.99
3 oz Travel Size Bubble Bath from Johnson & Johnson – $1
Head to Toe Baby Wash from Johnson & Johnson – $2.99

So her box was worth about $36.

I’m happy with the value in both boxes, since I bought 6 month subscriptions and paid only $24 a box! I put a * next to each daughter’s favorite product and ** next to my favorite.

    • This box was a miss

I got the bowtie but the child is 18 months old and I do not think that is an appropriate clothing accessory for a child under the age of 3

Did get the Snack ball, which is nice, but received a duplicate of the blue toy plane.

And last a snack pack of cookies for Mom.

I’ve had this box for a little over a year. I get a lot of duplicates and I am always missing the chance to ‘Customize” the box. Email says I have three days but if you don’t do it first day you get locked out.

Thinking about going back to Austin Lloyd. Twice the price but no duplicates.

  5. Those kushies washcloths are great 🙂 bigger wash cloths it’s hard to get in between newborn fingers and toes for cleaning, so the thin washcloths are great for that. This looks like such a nice newborn box! your friends are very lucky
