BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the products included.

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Toner

Previse Nutrify Skin Type 1-6 Universal Tonic – FULL SIZE! Value $48

This is one of those products that even after reading the instructions I’m still not exactly sure what it is. “Nutrify Liposomal Tonic 1-6 is our latest bio-healthy innovation to help hydrate skin plus fight free radicals and surface irritants.”

It has a few different uses as well according to their website:

Nutrify 1-6 is ideal for those with exceptionally sensitive skin who may have tolerance concerns with the existing Previse Nutrify series.

Patients receiving Botox, laser and other medical treatments respond well to Universal Nutrify 1-6. As a chilled application, Nutrify should help minimize swelling and some redness while speeding the healing process.

I tried it out and like the smooth finish it left on my skin, but I’m not sure exactly what it does besides that!

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Tarte

tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Charmed – FULL SIZE! Value $24

Yay for tarte anything! I like their LipSurgence lip crayons a lot – they have a glossy finish, and a sweet minty flavor.

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Coupon

The box also came with a coupon card for 20% off any tarte purchase from 4/1-4/10.

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Oscar

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo Spray – 1.2 oz Value $9

The card lists “Oscar Blandi Hair Products” so I’m assuming there will be some variation in this item for subscribers. I’ve tried this dry shampoo as a powder before and I like it as a spray too. I was worried it would be too white, but it sprayed on clear.

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – March 2015 LVX

LVX Nail Lacquer in Lemondrop – FULL SIZE! Value $14

Subscribers will receive either this shade or Mynt or Deco. I think I would have preferred either of the other two colors over this one, but they are all nice Spring shades, so no complaints!

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Eyeliner

OFRA Eyeliner in Navy – FULL SIZE! Value $13

I’m never too excited about getting eyeliner pencils, but I like the pigment of this blue eyeliner. (This item is listed as just OFRA Eyeliner on the info card, so I’m guessing colors will vary).

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $108. Boxycharm pretty much always knocks it out of the park with value on their boxes. I like the brands and products they’ve included this month, and if I figure out exactly how to use the Previse tonic effectively, this will be a great month for me.

What do you think of the March Boxycharm box?

  1. I can’t get a hold of anyone from customer service. I’ve sent 6 emails since last Wednesday. Anyone else? Is there a person behind the curtain?

    • No one responded to my emails until I finally sent an email stating I was going to dispute the charge. I finally got an email stating they didn’t know what happened (the label was printed but they never actually shipped it to me). Told me they would send me a free replacement (not free when it was something I actually paid for) but then when I responded to that email, I’ve yet to get a response or acknowledgement back. So tonight I am going to file a dispute w/my credit card company. I paid for something that was never shipped to me, so they can deal with the credit card company instead.

    • 5/25/15I also tried customer service per the phone number on my credit card receipt for payment to cancell shipments and the phone number has been disconnected. How do you reach a company with no contact number?

  2. Has anyone had any issues receiving their box? I got an email telling me it shipped about two weeks ago. It doesn’t look like its moved from its location (based on the code provided) and i live only a couple hours away from where it supposedly shipped. Is this a common problem with this subscription?

  3. I really liked this months box my eyeliner was in dark brown which I’m happy about because I got a blue eyeliner in my GlossyBox I think, my nail lacquer was in Deco and it’s a gorgeous color but I intend on purchasing the other two shades or at least Mynt. But I like you am really confused about the serum and it’s step 2? From what I gathered so I’m still very confused like I said, like you I have NO idea what it’s supposed to do.

  4. I wanted the yellow polish and got it but it’s really watery and barely covered my nails. Has anyone tried theirs?

    • Did you try using a white base and then the yellow polish? That’s what I usually have to do with any pastel colors, regardless of brand.

      • I had no idea. Thanks!

    • I got the same box, but my eyeliner was black. What made me laugh was the fact that in my much cheaper/lower quality box, beautybox 5, I got a better eyeliner. That one is a bright turquoise, and is a pen, not a pencil. Black eyeliner does nothing for me, because my eyelashes are so dark and thick at the base, it never shows up. So I’ll pass that on to my sister. The nail polish was my favorite , because it’s the first yellow polish I’ve ever received. It goes on a little streaky, but a white base will fix that easy peasy. I haven’t tried the lip crayon yet, but the color isn’t promising. When will they learn that pink is not and never will be a universally flattering color?? It will most likely join the lip crayon from last box- the bottom of my makeup case. The face tonic is exciting for me, because I’m way too poor to be picky about the chemicals in my makeup, but having a barrier that also mattifys? Awesome. And then my arch nemisis, dry shampoo. Have you ever used dry shampoo on thick, curly, ethnic hair? It was the worst hair day of my life. so that’ll also be passed on. I really hope they don’t send another lip crayon next month… I love lip products, but if they keep sending me useless ones, I won’t be happy.

      • My eyeliner was a beigey pink…I doubt it will show up on me. Wish ours had been switched! 🙂

    • I got Deco (a coral color) and with one coat it covers pretty well but it really gets a nice full opaque coverage with two to three coats and dries really fast.

  5. This was my first boxycharm box and I love it! The tarte lip crayon makes the whole box for me. It is such a pretty color. Liz, (or anyone that is reading) do you have a post or any tips on how to review items for the charms reward program? I am not seeing how to review my items? Thanks.

  6. I subscribe to 4 or 5 boxes right now, and Boxycharm is by far the best value for the money spent. I have yet to be let down, but I’ve only been subscribed for 3 months now. I like Petit Vours products better, but Boxycharm isn’t far behind.

    • I agree! I’ve gotten 5 boxes from BoxyCharm so far and I’m very happy with them. I pay $11 for ipsy because I am charged tax on my $10 so for $10 more I have been happy with what boxy charm sends. I appreciate the full sizes or higher valued brands. I’ve received one box from Glossybox and I’m happy with that one too. I have been eyeing Petit Vours for a while now so if I get another that’s probably going to be the one.

  7. Boxycharm has really impressed me again!

I recently started loving lip crayons and I love pink colors, so I’m thrilled for the Tarte LipSurgence. Quick question – mine came slightly broken. I think it might be ok, but I’m afraid it’s going to fall apart. Should I email them to let them know?

The Previse skincare item is interesting. I’m usually not that into skincare, but I’m intrigued. I was planning to swap it before it came, but now I’m thinking I might try it. I’m such a skincare newbie: can it take the place of a moisturizer?

My eyeliner color is Coffee Bean. I usually wear black eyeliner, but brown might be nice to switch it up with.

I got Deco for my nailpolish shade. I was actually kind of hoping for Lemondrop because I don’t have any yellows, but this one is really pretty, too.

Last, I got Oscar Blandi Hair Lift, which is apparently a thickening & strengthening mousse. I will be swapping it, because my hair is already too thick/poofy.

    • I would let them know because you shouldn’t have to settle for an item that may break off completely at any time. I’ve dealt with costumer service for a broken item and while they couldn’t replace that specific item they credited me enough points to purchase a full sized item in the store. Hope that helps.

  8. Has anyone had experience contacting Boxycharm about a damaged product? My Tarte LipSurgence arrived broken, like the whole crayon part was broken off the base 🙁 Just wondering if they’d replace it, especially because it’s the main item I wanted in the box!

Was interested in the tonic, but it has a floral scent that I seem to be allergic to. Might have to unsub to this one, as I haven’t been too happy the past few months.

    • My lipstick melted last summer. Took a pic and emailed them and they replaced the item in the next box with an apology note. Very nice CS.

    • I had a positive experience with customer service as well. My eyeshadow palette from a box last year arrived completely destroyed, and I sent them a pic and got a swift and friendly reply. They didn’t have a replacement palette to send so they gave me credits instead. I was really happy with how they handled it. It’s worth a shot.

      • Ooops! I meant points! They gave me points, not credits.

    • I had a broken item last month. I sent a photo along with my message to them. They didn’t have the item available to replace so they gave me points to use in the store and it was worth a full item so I was satisfied with that solution. Hope that helps.

  9. I’m quite happy with this box! I got the dry shampoo (I can never have too many), eyeliner in Green Go and the Lemondrop nail polish. I was really hoping for the Mynt polish, but maybe I’ll try to swap for it. The eyeliner is really pretty! I’m so glad I didn’t get navy. lol When I first opened the Tarte lip tint, I thought I’d have to gift or swap it because it’s not a color that looks good on me. Then I smelled it! I’m a sucker for anything minty, so I tried it on. It goes on pretty sheer, so the color is really a non-issue. Love it!

  10. I just got my box today and not thrilled with it at all. I normally love my Boxycharm so much, but this month, March in general for nearly all my boxes has been rather blah and boring. I swapped my whole Glossybox, almost all my Ipsy, Boxycharm, returned my Wantable box. I got the Lemondrop nail polish which I don’t like yellow at all, the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo, I have so much and this doesn’t even smell good I’ll swap it. I love Tarte, but I rarely use lip crayons so I’ll be swapping it and the eyeliner too. I’m praying April is a better month for all my boxes.

    • PS- Lemondrop is from LVX’s Summer 2014 collection..

    • Perhaps you are reaching a subscription box saturation? I know I am, so I decided to start gifting BC to my daughter 🙂

      • Haha most likely, I have boxes and boxes of makeup and stuff I need to use up. I know a year ago I would’ve been thrilled for a Tarte lip crayon. But I’ve never been a big fan of yellow, I was hoping for the mint color, and don’t use eyeliners.

  11. Is this box blue and black or white and gold? 😉

  12. Liz, don’t know if the website has been updated since you plated this but here is the description for the Previse:

    Product Description

Nutrify Liposomal Tonic 1-6 is our latest bio-healthy innovation to help hydrate skin plus fight free radicals and surface irritants. The bio-heathly tonic was crafted with Professional Makeup Artists for exceptional performance. The dual benefit, mattifying hydrator helps scavenge free radicals PLUS acts as a key, light-weight barrier to makeup that may contain parabens, triclosan and other skin irritating ingredients.

Kind of neat that it “provides a barrier” to those nasty parabens.

  13. My eyeliner is the same color as my skin tone “beige”. Tried to use it on my waterline and it barely showed up, if at all. Disappointed

    • @Megan, light eyeliners are a lot if fun to experiment with! I recommend layering with darker colors. I have a white crayon that I love to experiment with. It will lighten up the darker colors & varies with how much you use & how you layer it. You have to wipe the tip off a lot, but it’s a fun way to experiment with a new look!

  14. This looks like a great box. Liz, I watched your unboxing video and I think you did a great job. When I first learned about subscription boxes, I watched a lot of unboxing videos and was very frustrated because the videos tended to run too long for my taste and that is why I was so happy to find your site. I could read what was in the box and see the pictures without watching a giggling girl hold up makeup to the camera and not be able to read exactly what it is. Your video is very much like your blog. You tell us what is in the box, your brief opinion ( brief is good and valuable) and show very clear footage of the products. Great work!

    • Thanks so much! I’m still getting the hang of it, so I’m glad to hear you like the format! 🙂

      • I tried to comment a while back but something happened when I tried to post. Anyway, what I wanted to say again was thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I am a mom of 6 and don’t have a ton of free time to search YouTube for true reviews on subscriptions I’ve been interested in trying. I had in the past mistakenly watched “popular” YouTube box reviews to find that they got the good boxes & for free so it didn’t necessarily reflect what I would get as just a “regular” person. I found your site by searching on google and was so happy I did. You have saved me a lot of time & money but also opened me up to try a couple new ones. I was already subscribed to ipsy, BoxyCharm & Glossybox but after seeing reviews & your coupon codes I have decided to give goodebox (I think I spelled it correct) & the allure box a try. I appreciate that you have given your time and effort to create such a fascinating and fun sight! I just read the comment above about videos so that’s even better!

  15. Looks like a good box, although I hope I don’t get the dry shampoo spray. I have curly hair and just can’t deal with the way my hair looks without washing every day. I end up with super flat bits and super stick-out parts.

  16. I wish they shipped to Canada! I’m always so impressed by the reviews for this box

  17. This will be my last box, which makes me sad. D: I love BC, but I just got hit with a $6000 dental bill, so um, no more boxes for me… (except popsugar, I just can’t let go of that one.)

    • Steph – Yikes on the $6K. This is totally off topic I know, but you definitely have my sympathy. Here’s to more boxes in your future!

  18. I believe tonic is another word for toner!

  19. Yes, you will as long as it hasn’t sold out.

  20. I got the Ofra eyeliner in black, I wish I would have gotten the blue shade since I own so many black liners.

Also the other possiblity for the Oscar Blandi product was a Hair Lift Thickening and Strengthening Mousee (I got that and I haven’t seen anything other than those that & the dry shampoo on social media).

  21. A little off topic but with all of your subs throughout the years, I’m really curious if you do make up tutorials or vlogs of how you’ve organized all of your goodies thru the years. I picture you with a room overflowing with makeup and want to see how you display it. 🙂 is that weird? Haha

    • I want to see the same, how you organize all your Stuff pleaseeee

      • Me three LOL – sooooo curious and wondering if I could pick up some organizing tips!

        • Fantastic idea! Pretty please, Liz?! 🙂

        • OCD girl waving her hand crazily in agreement!!! I’ve been subbing to boxes for 1 year now and have stuff coming out the wahoo! If you are going to get us addicted you have to help us handle the stash! lol

          • LOL – my issue is the more boxes I get the more expensive boxes I want, the more I swap, if I cant seem to swap for an item I subscribe to the box, much easier that way =) – Plus more gifts in my gift box to choose from for christmas gifts

      • I would also like to know how many of these you actually have a chance to test too. You write that you like to give things a few weeks, but how do you compare if you are trying more than one new skin product at a time? Thinking mostly of the creams/serums/toners here. How do you test them all, or should I say what percentage of stuff do you test?

  22. Does anyone know if I’ll get this box if I sign up now? I’d love to try each one of those items!

    • I don’t think they are running the waitlist right now so you’d probably get this box. It may be early April before you see it though. For the past 2+ months, bloggers are getting their boxes before regular subscribers are shipping out. I still love this box but it’s becoming very GlossyBox as far as shipping goes.

    • Yes, you will as long as it hasn’t sold out.
