Bare Bliss Box Subscription Review – February 2015 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included.

Bare Bliss Box Subscription Review – February 2015 Balm

Mahalo Body Balm - .1 oz Value $3.60

Southern Magnolia Mineral Cosmetics in Mojave Blush - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $15 (On sale for $12)

This body balm is very oily, so a little goes a long way! (The sample is pretty tiny for a body balm, so I guess that kind of makes up for it). And I love the packaging!

I've sampled Southern Magnolia Mineral Cosmetics before thanks to subscription boxes, and I like their formulas. This pale pink blush gave me a little more color than I was expecting - but that's a good thing! It is a highly pigmented pink, and the color works well with my skin tone.

Bare Bliss Box Subscription Review – February 2015 Soap

Natura Culina Coconut Oil Soap - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $8 (On Sale for $4)

Aleavia Immerse Lavender Prebiotic Body Wash - 4 oz Value $5

This soap is one of my favorite scents - Orange Blossom! (I'm not sure if all subscribers will receive the same scent, but I lucked out!)

I love all things lavender, so I was excited about this body wash, but it doesn't exactly smell like lavender to me. If anything it reminds me of the universal restroom soap scent - not my favorite.

Verdict: The value of this box is about $24.60. That's pretty close to the cost of the box for a beauty box. I like 3 out of the 4 items, so I got my money's worth, but right now this doesn't feel like a high-value subscription. I'd only recommend it if you are looking for discovering new natural beauty brands.

Also, I know some readers had issues with the Bare Bliss Gilt City deal that was available a few weeks ago, so if you have feedback on how those issues were handled, please let us know!

So I thought I would share my experience with the bare bliss subscription. I also signed up through Gilt City for the 6 month membership and was forced to pay the additional $18 for shipping. I received my February box, and it was nothing like the one Liz received. Then in early March I received another box exactly the same as the one I received in February (except the nail polish color was different). I messaged Bare Bliss on Facebook asking if the second box was considered my “March” box, and that I was also disappointed that I didn’t receive the brands that Bare Bliss advertised on their Facebook page as being in the February box that “every subscriber will receive”. Bare Bliss responded saying that the second identical box I received was an accident, and that I would still be receiving a March box. They also said that they will be sending me the items from the February brands with my March box.

So far it’s March 27th and I haven’t received the March box or the February samples that weren’t included, but we will see.

I appreciate that they actually responded and are trying to make the situation better for me, at the same time I would NOT recommend this subscription to anyone. It’s not worth the cost or the hassle.

I also purchased the 6 month sub through Gilt City. Now correct me if I am wrong but the 6 month sub was $45 plus add another $18 for the s&h. Which comes out to be $10.50 per box. I was also able to use the 10% off the Gilt City discount so end up paying $9.75 per box. If this is being listed as a monthly sub that costs $16.99-$19.99 a month then we are getting a 40-50% discount and we still get similar samples as say a Birchbox or Sample Society box. I agree that I am not too thrilled that different boxes are being shipped to Gilt City subscribers than reg monthly subscribers but I still think we got a decent box. I got the same box as Cynthia.

I signed up for the 6 months subscription through Gilt City because it was a great deal…except it wasn’t. I really regret getting this subscription, it’s by far the worst one I’ve had.

I also purchased the Gilt City deal and paid the extra $18 for the postage through Bare Bliss Box. I got the same exact box as Cynthia above for February, but then this past Thursday, I got the same exact box again! The only difference was the nail polish color. I was very disappointed! So, I emailed them on Friday and I got no response. I emailed them again yesterday and I messaged them through their Facebook page. I will give them until Tuesday to respond and then I will post on their Facebook wall. I understand that I got a deal, but I had no idea that I would get repeated boxes as the deal. If I would have known that, I wouldn’t have signed up at all.

You’ve gotten two boxes since the Gilt deal? Man, I haven’t even received my first box yet! It was just shipped on Friday. I’m really starting to question the ethics of this company. Siiiiigh. >:|

It sounds to me as though the company figured out they couldn’t technically (legally) send lower value/different item boxes to those who purchased the Gilt City deal based on there being no difference in the terms of the deal versus the regular subscription. As I recall the terms said nothing about “special” deal boxes, it was to be a regular sub. I can’t believe they thought folks wouldn’t notice or see the regular/monthly curated boxes online and complain. For me that was a huge strike against subbing and this was on my short list to try.

i got my first box thru Gilt City, signed up for 6 months, which included nail polish, eye cream, shower gel, lip balm, and moist towelettes, I’m very happy with it and glad I got a different box

I didn’t have any issues with the Gilt City deal, but I had heard that they sent those of us that bought the voucher an entirely different box, and based off of your review I can see that that’s true. I want to like Bare Bliss Box, but I think that’s pretty unfair.

I purchased the 6 month subscription from Gilt City and received my first box in February which included different items from previous boxes. Although, I wasn’t happy at first for receiving different products I did end up liking most of the products. My February Box had: (1) Adorn Nails Nail Polish Full size; (2) SW Basic Brooklyn Vegan Cocoa Lip Balm Full Size; (3) Palmetto Derma Eye Cream sample; (4) Pure By She She Cream Body Wash sample and (5) Box Naturals sample. I emailed Bare Bliss asking them if Gilt City subscriptions were going to contain different products than the regular subscribers. Customer service got back to me right away with the following response:

“Starting with the March box you will be with the pool of our regular subscribers. There may be two versions of the March box to accommodate all of our subscribers but we’re finalizing that now. Our main goal is to insure the ingredients meet our qualifications; that’s how we source our brand partners.”

I was very impressed with their quick response. We will just have to wait and see what happens with March. Hoping for the best.

I got the same box as you and also subscribed through Gilt City. I was jealous looking at what Liz received. I’m hoping my future boxes improve since I got six boxes (at a very little discount due to the Gilt City bait and switch pricing)!

My box was the same as yours, and I loved it as well. I’m kind of sad I cancelled my subscription, but I agree that for new subscribers, the value is not quite what it should be.

I also received a “gilt city” special edition of old product. I emailed them over a week ago asking if “gilt city” subscribers will get the regular box or different ones and never received a response.

Liz, your February box was completely different than mine. Not one product was the same. I wonder what is going on with Bare Bliss in general; I can’t get customer service to e-mail me back, even to answer a question. They are having no consistency across the boxes. I wonder if they are going to make it? Right now, it feels very dicey. I would love for some of these other natural beauty boxes to find their way, but it just doesn’t seem like most of them do at least not right away.

Karah – Are you a Gilt customer? They received a different box for February.

The body wash sounds interesting although I don’t understand “prebiotic” as it pertains to body wash. Their theory behind the body wash is similar to one theory on what causes rosacea. I hope someone posts her experience with the body wash.

Andi

I’ve used the body wash several days in a row in the shower, and I like it very much. I’m also not sure of the prebiotic benefit, but it lathers nicely and doesn’t cause any irritation on my sensitive face.

I hope my box comes soon. I was a Gilt City subscriber though, so I know I’ll be receiving some different items. I would have liked that blush, so I hope I get it.
