Julep St. Patrick's Day Welcome Box Review + Free Box Offer Box

Julep Maven is a monthly nail polish and beauty subscription. (Each month they release a new collection and you can customize which items you want or skip that month).

I have a regular subscription to Julep Maven, and Julep reached out to see if I would be interested in reviewing one of their free Welcome boxes. (The free Welcome box is the first box you get when you sign up for a Julep subscription, and a great way to try out the nail polish and makeup to see if it is for you).

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Currently, Julep is offering a free St. Patrick's Day themed Welcome box:

Julep St. Patrick's Day Welcome Box Review + Free Box Offer Info

The Welcome Box comes with a mini info booklet introducing you to the Julep Maven subscription. I like that the call out the important dates to remember:

20th-24th: The collection is revealed for the upcoming month, and you need to select your box or skip by the 24th.

27th: Boxes start to ship

1st: The Secret Store opens! (The Secret Store is a sale that is accessible only to Julep Maven subscribers).

Julep St. Patrick's Day Welcome Box Review + Free Box Offer Polish

Julep Nail Color in Brigette - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Margot - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Lucky - Retail Value $14

I really like this mix of colors for the St. Patrick's Day themed box - they work great for the holiday, but the white and gold shimmer shades are staples that will work all year round. White creme nail polish is pretty much the only polish I need to still buy thanks to my subscription box collections. (I like to use white nail polish under most colors for a uniform, opaque finish).

Julep St. Patrick's Day Welcome Box Review + Free Box Offer Liner

Julep Gel Eye Glider in Smoky Taupe Shimmer - Retail Value $16

This eyeliner is one of my absolutely favorite Julep beauty products - it glides on so easily, gives great pigment, and stays in place! I think they were very smart to include this as the featured beauty item in this welcome box!

Julep St. Patrick's Day Welcome Box Review + Free Box Offer Decals

This box also included nail decals. I think I'll try these out on top of the gold polish for a subtle decal look.

Julep St. Patrick's Day Welcome Box Review + Free Box Offer Coupon

And lastly, this box also included a unique 50% off coupon for your next purchase from Julep.

Verdict: I think this Welcome Box is a great way to try out Julep products and the Maven experience. I really like the little booklet they include so that you have all the information upfront. The retail value is great too - about $58 (not counting the value of the nail decals).

(If you're interested in trying out Julep products but don't want to try a subscription yet, I also recommend their monthly mystery boxes, or swapping for a few Julep products!)

What do you think of the St. Patrick's Day Free Welcome Box?

I finally caved too I’ve ordered mystery boxes from Julep but never became a Maven. Just hope my St.Pats box comes in time. I went for the three month option but may cancel after my third box we shall see.

I finally caved to a Julep Maven subscription, this deal was too good to pass up, and with as often as I do my own manicures – I can’t believe I waited this long. St. Patrick’s Day polish – YESSSSS!!

I haven’t tried Julep yet and this box is intriguing. But what is their cancellation process like? If I get this box and I don’t want to continue, will I have time to cancel before I’m charged for the next one?

I got the free box in Jan and cancelled right after. Absolutely no hassle on the phone. It took less than a minute for me to cancel and have a confirmation email sent t me.

If you do this, do they charge you for the free box or you get to keep it for free without ever having to buy a box? I know that sounds crazy, but i don’t want to be stuck spending a ton if its something i’ll never use… however, if i love it, of course i’ll keep the subscription.

Thanks! I just subscribed. It’ll save me have to find something green to wear on St Patrick’s Day 🙂

Cancellation is tricky (or at least it was as of last October).

Your best bet is to order (and this is assuming you are in the US so you will receive the box fairly soon) right after the Maven selection window ends. That way there will be a little bit of a lag before the next selection window so you can (1) decide if you like it and (2) cancel if you don’t.

To cancel, I think you still have to call. I have had pretty good luck getting through to them without a wait around 5:30-6PM Eastern on Mondays. Press the number for billing (I think it’s 3, but listen to the menu) instead of whatever they tell you to press for cancellations. I did not have any issues, the CS reps were pretty understanding (it was when my car died and I needed to cancel a lot of subs, so I pleaded financial reasons).

That being said, apparently they have brought back the option to “skip” a month for everyone? Although I am not sure how to do that as I am not a current subscriber.

Yes, you can skip any month easily if you want to remain a maven. When the reveal happens and you need to select your box (20th-24th of each month), just click the “I’m out this month” button and submit. I did it this month, and Julep says you can do this for as many months as you’d like.
