From The Lab Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Box

From the Lab is a unique beauty subscription box – each month they send you a new beauty product that isn’t on the market yet. The idea is that beauty companies heavily markup their products, so by getting the beauty product after it’s created and tested in the lab, they can send you the products for much less than you would pay once they are branded in the upcoming months/years.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

From The Lab Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Info

Each product comes with a fold out sheet detailing the beauty product’s benefits and ingredients, plus directions for how to apply each product.

From The Lab Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Ingredients

On the back of the sheet is the ingredient list for the item. They also state their ingredient policy, which I am very impressed with:

From the Lab uses a conscientious selection of plant-based and synthetic ingredients that are suitable for all skin types. We do not test on animals or include any substance of animal origin in our products. We only use premium ingredients, and our formulas are free of parabens, benzene, formaldehyde-releasing ingredients, irritants, nanoparticles, nitrosating ingredients, PABA, phthalates, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, toluene, and mineral oils and other comedogenic actives that clog pores.

From The Lab Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Face Cream

From the Lab Rejuvenating Face Cream No. 594 Plus - Estimated Retail Value $150

(That value estimate is from From the Lab based on what they believe the product will retail for when it is introduced to market with a branded name).

This face cream is designed to "re-activate the production of collagen and elastin, minimize the appearance of age spots, and deliver long-lasting hydration."

From the Lab recommends using it on both your face and hands. I just tried it out on my hands, and I like how quickly the cream absorbs, and the moisturized finish it gives. There is no added fragrance, but it does have a subtle scent that I don't love but don't mind either.

Verdict: I'm happy to see From the Lab lowered the cost of their box (It used to be $30 a month), and I like the emphasis they put on ingredients in their formulas. So far, I like this cream, and I'm happy with the value and product selection this month. Do you subscribe to From the Lab? What do you think of the February box?

Hi. Does anyone know what is going on with the subscriptions from this company? I rarely receive a box from them. They were really good when they started, with sending a box every month.

My first order was the February box with 594 Plus cream. I loved it and ordered more. Are they coming out with a March box? March is almost over.

I never received a March box either. This is the third month skipped.

Thanks for the answers!

It’s such an odd concept to me, though… What if you like it so much that you want to continue to buy it for years and years? And you can’t really talk with others about a product that you don’t really know what it is… “So, yeah, I’m using this great new product! …What is it? Uh, I don’t really know…”

It all looks impressive, but I still can’t bring myself buying an uknown item and putting it on my body.

I have learned the hard way that non-comedgenic claims are not regulated. I had been naive and trusting, but with a little education I now know the pore clogging ingredients to avoid, and this cream is no different. I envy those who can use all these products and not have a problem!

Do you ever find out what the product turns out to be branded as?

If you love it, how do you buy more?

Charlotte

This has been my exact question about this box for a while! Anyone know the answer?

It’s my understanding that you never find out the brand, but the products are available on the website to purchase.

What if you love a product? Do you ever learn the brand so you can continue to purchase it?
