Wantable Intimates Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Box

Wantable Intimates is one of the subscriptions from Wantable, and it is probably my favorite box they offer. Like all Wantable subscriptions, you can heavily customize what they send you by filling out your preferences – and you still get to be surprised!

FYI - they recently changed the amount of items you get in this subscription from 4-5 to 3-4.

Here is more info from Wantable on the change:

“Wantable made several changes to our intimates collection based on customer feedback which we implemented on October 24th. Some of these changes included adding a new lingerie category, adding a sexy style option and increasing individual item value.  As a result all collections now contain 3 sometimes 4 items, where previously collections contained 4 sometimes 5 items."

Wantable kindly sent me this box to review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Wantable Intimates Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Details

Here are the order details as well.

Wantable Intimates Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Top

Nouveau Dot PJ Set - Value $40

Wantable Intimates Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Pants

This set is cute, and I'm happy to report that the sheer purple ruffle at the bottom does not expose skin. (I was a little worried it was too short at first and the overall look would be a little weird).

Wantable Intimates Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Socks

K. Bell Knee Socks - Value $9 (On sale for $4.50)

Yummie Tummie Leggings - Value $30

These socks are a blend of merino wool, spandex and nylon. I love long socks for wearing under tall boots, so I'm always happy to have another pair.

I like these Yummie Tummie leggings a lot. They look like capris when you first take them out of the packaging, but stretch to the full length legging. They are slightly sheer, and provide shaping without being uncomfortable at all. And they are high-waisted! (Also I like Heather from Real Housewives of NYC, so I was extra excited to give these a try!)

Verdict: Based on the changes Wantable announced with their transitioning to 3-4 items per box, I was expecting to get fewer items, but the value to stay about the same since they were introducing higher end brands. That didn't really happen with this box - the value seems slightly lower, ($79), and I was expecting more brands I haven't seen in previous boxes. I am really excited about the Yummie Tummie brand being included though. I think I'll need to revisit my preference settings for this subscription. It seems like they've added higher-value brands in the lingerie categories, and that might now be the best way to get the most value out of this subscription.

I like all my items though, and I still think it is a good deal, I just can't help but compare it to previous boxes. I guess this is the adjustment period!

What did you get from Wantable for December?

I absolutely adored my first box, January’s, I had gotten Muk Luks slippers, a nice shorty pj set and a cami. I liked it so much I ordered an extra box. Well I got that one and I was so excited to get it. I opened it with my mom and we both asked “is that it?” At the same time. I had gotten a black long johns type shirt and a bra that was a 38c and was underwire. I wear a 40d and had asked for no underwire in my comment to my stylist plus it was a sports bra style. I couldn’t even figure out how to pull the darn thing over my head to try it on (cause it was too small) and who the heck wants an UNDERWIRE sports bra? I immediately packed it back up and got a shipping label. Now I’m waiting for the refund to get posted.

Last week I received an email from Wantables offering 30% off, so I gave it a try with a one time Intimates and one time Accessories. They both came today a day earlier than tracking expected so I was so excited, until I opened the boxes. It appears they disregarded my size information for the intimates. I really like the look of the nightgown they sent, but it is a tank in the winter and two sizes too big. They also sent a camisole that is two sizes too big, but again it’s winter. I live outside of Philadelphia and it is cold. The only thing they got right was the fuzzy socks, but they look like ones I bought for my kids from the dollar store. For the accessories they advertised about hats and I specified in my comments how much I wanted a hat, but I got a scarf instead. I also requested statement pieces like they showed in the advertisements, but I received dainty earrings, a plain ring, and boring necklace. Why ask me for my sizes and my preferences, if they were just going to ignore them anyway.

Ok, so first of all, Jessvii – what you said. Secondly, Rebecca – fully agree, completely cringeworthy copy and thank God I’m not the only one that can’t handle these inevitable and totally asinine prod. descriptions! Lastly, is it just me or is Wantable intimates on a loop of ever diminishing product? I wanted to love this box soooo much, I tried to love it – for way too many months, and it gave me nothing but Liz Cadman box envy. I never recv’d anything even closely resembling the sheer cuteness or number of Liz’s covetable items. But, knowing they were out there just made me try harder, I tried exact replicas of the Liz style sheets, I consulted with the reps, I got Bupkis. I unsubbed. The end.
PS – they do however, have some of the most lovely and genuine customer service reps, across all their box subs! Also, I am truly happy for you, Liz bc you have had a seriously good and deserved run!

To be fair, Wantables customer service has always been good to me, and their website is fun and easy to use.

BUT, here is why I cancelled (reasons listed in random order). First, Liz’s box consistently has one more item than mine (it’s unfair of Wantables to the rest of us). Second, three items isn’t enough for $36. I get that lingerie and pjs can be expensive, but I have my preferences set up for panties, socks, and tights. Three panties for $36 is significantly more than say Victoria’s Secret and at VS I get way more control over what I get. Third, the website is kind of confusing – for example, what is the difference between flirty and sexy? Fourth, I get that people who want lingerie should be catered to also, but what about the chick who just wants some normal leggings and lives near a subpar TJMaxx? I want some stuff I can wear to work, not just around the house or on date-nights. Fifth, I got some dull pink panties that were so dull they were practically beige, yet they were listed as colorful and bright. Pardon, but there is no way those are a bright color, and I’d selected to never receive non-colorful underwear. Color = fun. Beige-pink = granny panties.

I won’t subscribe again until they up it to four items per box.

I have mentioned this is precious months comments also, Liz always gets one more item than me too. A couple months ago Liz asked them what was up, and well there is always some excuse. This month I got a plain tank top, one lace thong and a pair of tights (requested in comments sectio ). I’m glad that they honored my request for the tights, but I don’t see the $36 value. I usually get the 7 for $27 deal at Victoria’s Secret when they have it, and honestly I only said I Like panties because I thought I might get one as a fourth item. I was thinking they try to get the box value between two values and if I liked panties (since I think of them as a low value item) I might end up getting a fourth item in my box. Struck out again, but I’ll remove panties from my profile and give them another try. If they think one pair of panties is worth as much $30 leggings or something they must be joking. And now I will un-like panties..

I totally cancelled my subscription. I got the purple set above in my December box. It’s ok, but I’m in NY and it’s freakin December!!! They sent me some hideous dollar store socks with a Xmas penguin and a Long sleeved shirt made for men because there was no way it was fitting a women’s assets. My January box came yesterday and had 2 things?!! The ugliest MuK Luk slippers they could find and some Walmart quality leftover pjs. Seriously they are horrible now. Id never subscribe to them again

What PJ set did you get. I would love to swap. 🙂

I cancelled my Wantable Intimates a few months ago. At first I loved this subscription, but then the quality started to go down imo, and occasionally I received some weird (read: hideous) items. For $36 I can pick out decent pj’s and lounge wear each month that I really like.

I was really disappointed with Dec and sent my box back. I received two items I had received before but in different colors and two boyshorts underwear. I used to love the wantables intimates. I don’t know what happened last month but I will wait awhile to resubscribe.

After envying the boxes reviewed here, I finally signed up when there was a half off the first box deal in December. I was so excited to get my box! But when I opened the lid, I was so disappointed. I received a crazy looking purple zebra print cami and panty set, and a romper. A ROMPER. Yes, they sent me a romper. It was described as being “perfect for lounging by a fire with friends and family.” Are you kidding me? I’m 37. I would be arrested if I were to wear a waffle knit long sleeve short short romper with a hoodie, even just around friends or family. It went back quickly, with my reaction to the box described in detail. My January box should arrive tomorrow. Let’s hope for a subscription box miracle, or Wantable Intimates is getting the axe from me.

I’m dying laughing right now. Thank you for that 🙂 lmao

omg how funny! I am 35 and I also received that waffle-knit romper. I laughed out loud. I’d look like an old middle age baby wearing that thing. My husband thought it was cute but uh, yea, it’s not for him haha. I only kept my box b/c I got a fleece set (long sleeve and long pants) that I actually would have bought if I saw it at TJ Maxx (it’s average quality).

I returned my horrrrrrid horrrrrible ugly accessories box. Nothing like Liz’s box at all. 2 disgustingly ugly metal tone necklaces, one broken cheap plastic sunglasses and a scarf. THey had the audacity to charge me $14 (I only paid $18 for that box) b/c they claimed that I kept one item. How idiotic. Other than the fact that the items were ugly, why would I go to the post office to drop off a box to get $4 back. It took 3 emails and a reddit PM to get anyone to listen to me. Never again.

Although the value of my December box was significantly less than my November box, I loved everything I got. My box had a cute lacy bra and panty set and a micro fleece pj set – which was perfect for Christmas Eve and lounging around in on Christmas Day! Typically fleece would be too warm for me since I live in Southern Arizona but we have had a cold snap and even snow! The pants fit a little funny like there was too much fabric in the front and not enough in the back but I still kept them.

It is so obvious that they send you a better box to attract subscribers. I got the exact same leggings and a PJ set valued at $30. I emailed and asked if this was the norm to expect, or was it because I got a discounted box for my first box. And I asked if the PJ set counted as one item or 2 (which I know you since asked about). I even said if they had thrown in a pair of socks I would have been thrilled. I got an email response that because the value of the PJ’s and leggings there was not another item. They should fairly apply their guidelines.

This used to be my favorite sub. Then things started slipping in terms of value and quality overall. For a year I was able to adjust my preferences just so and receive the specific categories I wanted. Plus I could call and make requests for items I saw in others’ boxes and they were usually fulfilled. My last 2 months have been lackluster and super late in shipping. Both times I was told they were 100% sold out of everything in my size (medium, by the way) in the categories I selected (panties, loungewear and socks). One month after waiting for 5 weeks I ultimately got 2 pairs of socks and a pair of panties. The other month they sent me items sized up to a large so nothing fit. I’m yet to see an improvement in brands/luxe factor but have definitely received overall lower value boxes since they implemented the change. I love Yummie Tummie and hope they continue with it and other more high end brands. I just don’t know if I’m willing to keep rolling the dice on quality and paying a month in advance.

I was kinda bummed about my Dec. box too. Nov. value for me was I think in the $90.00 range. Dec. was only in the $60.00. Nov. kept the value high so I was fine with one less item. This month they value was cut by about $30.00 or a third. I got long johns, underwear, and fuzzy lounge pants. I asked for Muk Luks and NOPE…. If I were to pay full price for the box I got. I would have been very upset because I could have gone to TJ Maxx and gotten more for $36.00.

My professional background is graphic design and advertising and I cannot help but wince and comment on the Yummy Tummy verbiage. Descriptives such as “make your legs famous” and “shape your tummy with a loving hug” is such condensating pap. If that was my copywriter they would be fired.

I got those pj’s several months ago. They are cute but the pants don’t fit right. They are loose around the waist or something? They keep falling down. I keep wearing the set anyway though because it’s cute, but not something I would have bought on my own.

I got the same PJs and had the same problem. The pants are like a foot too long and fall off at night and when I walk. I’m not even a short person! 🙂

I canceled all of my Wantable subs also. Just not seeing quality anymore.

Sara

I had this exact same problem. They obviously should have put a draw-string in because I can’t keep them on.

How do you make requests or give them a note about your preferences? I loved my first box and can’t wait for the next 1. All I could see was taking a quiz and updating it. Did I miss something?

Reply ButtonReply

PA Anna

Update your quiz. At the end should be a box where you can leave a comment for the stylist.

I am hoping my Jan box will arrive today. I received in my December box:

1. The exact same Nouveau by PJ Drama Velour PJ Short Set that Liz received in November. I love it.

2. Muk Luk Fleece Lined Leggings. Great for cold weather.

3. Muk Luk Aloe socks. I requested them and like them.

The value came to $68.50. I enjoy my items and am fine with the value.

You always receive the best boxes!! Although I’ve added to my notes that I live in Texas and can’t really use heavy fleece, etc., I received a full, long-sleeved thermal set this month, so I ended up returning the entire box. I would have LOVED the one you received with the tank! This is the second time this has happened, so I’m going to take a couple of months off and let their inventory refresh. On good months, this is by far my favorite sub box!

I actually received a fantastic box! A pair of Muk-Luks, really luxe pj pants, a lingerie set, and some very nice vintage style panties. VERY happy with the box!
