I wish I had subbed this box before this month as I would be *SO* happy with this box. I started a sub that will begin in Feb. Probably going to drop Birchbox, which has been very disappointing for me lately.

I have only been disappointed in one Sample society box since I subscribed, which, I think was in September. I will definitely use all of the products in this month’s box, and I think it’s nice that we received a bonus product! I’m happy that I can afford this subscription, ’cause I’m disabled and it’s nice to be able to try high end products on a budget =)!

This is my second month of Sample Society and while I wasn’t thrilled to get blue eye shadow, I think I might be able to find a way to make it work (maybe at least use the glitter as a liner). I was thrilled to see the Strivectin brightening serum since I just ran out of my Tatcha one. I used it last night and this morning along with the Philosophy and am liking how my skin looks and feels despite the yucky below zero weather we are having here that usually does a number on my skin. The Philosophy sample was smaller than I would have liked but if I’m still liking it after I use it all up I may use my Beauty Bar credit and snag a full size version. I got the light blue metallic polish and at first I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it it, but I thought it might be cute to do that with some white glitter or something for when I take my niece to see Frozen on Ice. The only item I’m meh about is the soap after reading some of the comments here, sounds bizarre and my skin has been doing so well lately that I don’t want to screw it up so it will likely go in the swap pile. But I am having much better luck with Sample Society than I did with Birchbox or Ipsy so I’m glad I switched.

I am ok with this box. My dashboard read that I would get the blue 80’s eye makeup and blue metallic nail polish. Instead I received the peach eye cream make up and mint nail polish. The eye makeup still is too oddly sparkled –big lavender glitter particles. No thanks, I’ll leave that to teenagers. I am rocking the mint polish with my rescue beauty oxblood from last months box. So it’s a ok. I’ll keep this for another two months and see if there is a serious improvement. I still really miss the old sample society.

Im actually really happy with my box! I got the Peach Prism eye art (thank goodness because the other 2 colors would have been very difficult for me to pull off) and the lavender nail polish, which is actually quite pretty! And the other samples I will use as well, so overall a win for me!

I just opened my box and it’s ok. I got the Rose color eyeshadow… which is what i wanted. I got the lavendar ( leslie) polish and I am interested in the soap for my teenager. LOVED last month’s box a ton! I have had the script for a year and some months are better than others, but I have found some new things i would have never tried.
After seeing the spoilers I was a bit nervous this box would be blah. I got it today and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I got six samples the eyeshadow was a peach that very pretty and usable and my nail polish was a mint color that is perfect for spring. The value is there for sorry so many others were disappointed. And best of shipping is quick for me get notice and two days later sometimes one, box is on doorstep.

Our CC info was stolen so unfortunately I was unable to sign up in time for my beauty boxes again…After seeing this spoiler I’m not terribly upset about not receiving this months SS Box. It’s not a terrible box but definitely items I can live without. Love Sample Society and hopefully can sign back up with my updated info for next months box.

Sample Society commented on a post in Facebook. Everyone is receiving the Strivectin product as a bonus gift!
The eye shadow sticks vary by color. I saw blue; yellow and gold. I’m not too excIted but the reviews are pretty good. I just don’t know if I can pull the bright colors off.
The bar soap gets excellent reviews!!! I’m excited about the Strivectin and Philosophy. I also like the Zoya nail polish, that’s one of my favs! 🙂
I have mixed feelings. I love Birchbox as it’s only $10 with fun themes and great point system when you earn over half back each month. An extra dollar starting this month from sharing to Facebook makes $6 to spend in the store.
Does anyone know what the free Strivectin product is??

I got the Strivectin. It’s the Intensive Illuminating Serum. The odd thing is that in the little brochure we get explaining the items it’s not even listed.

Got my box today with the Strivectin product in it along with everything else pictured. The Strivectin is intensive illuminating serum size .25 oz. pump. Seems like a decent sample.

I’m not blown away, but I really liked last month’s box, so no hard feelings against Sample Society yet hahaha.

JUST AN FYI
You can get that Philosophy hope in a jar moisturizer sample FREE from Philosophy. I got it from there website a week ago. Google it!!! 🙂

I read the tiny, tiny print of the Terms and Conditions and the sample is a tiny, tiny foil on a card…grmph.

What’s interesting to me is that I remember way back in the day that you had to be “clocked” to buy an Erno Laszlo product. They always said too that you couldn’t just use one product by but had do the whole ritual.
That soap is serious soap. You needed something to help wash off the sticky oil. Maybe they have changed but I guess I still have the old school ritual stuck in my head.

What does being clocked mean? Just curious since I’m unfamiliar with the brand/product line.

When you used EL you were given a clock time for your skin type. I think 1 o’clock was oily and 3 o’clock was super oily.
Then you bought the items for your clock time. It was hokey but it was a requirement to buy products for your ritual.
I still have a fascination for the whole process with using the oil then the soap and splashing a ton of times with the basin water etc. I think I’ll have to look into it again! LOL

I am definitely canceling this box after this month (just received my shipping notice). I will have to trade or gift 99% of these items, sigh. And I need to cancel Birchbox. Not happy with the missing items from my orders and all the teeny tiny samples that I don’t fit my profile and can’t use. 🙁

I am not certain because I haven’t tried it but I think beauty bar allows for returns on this box?

I wonder how I’m going to pull off cobalt blue eyeshadow without looking like an 80’s prom queen! Lol

Did anyone notice on the BeautyBar website if you look at your order history, the picture of the January box includes a Strivectin product, but the dashboard doesn’t? I’m newer to SS but thought that was odd.

I’m torn on this one… I’ll use everything in it unlike some of the previous boxes but I’m not really excited about anything. Also I hate getting drugstore products in a $15 box. I’m okay with them in my glam bags but for the extra cost I’m more fond of high end smaller samples.

Thats exactly what I was going to comment about. I had seen a pic of the spoilers on saturday and it showed a Strivectin product, but my dashboard shows no Strivectin! I was looking forward to that :'(

Liz – Did the Globein and Sample Society post joined as one?

It’s not that this stuff is bad, I just don’t think it’s worth the $6 more than Birchbox or Ipsy.

blue freaking nail polish. that’s my deal breaker for subscription boxes. i’ve unsubscribed to birch box, ipsy, and pop sugar because of blue nail polish and now i’ll be unsubbing sample society. i have such an intense hatred for blue nail polish, i don’t get why they’re in every box!!

The Zoya polish varies in color. There’s like 6 shades you can receive. The same with the eye shadow/liner sticks

I just went looking all over the internet for metallic blue nail polish (found a decent one from Essie, all the ones I liked were sold out at Julep). I think my collection of blues is better than my collection of greens but not quite as varied as my collection of purples or reds.
I guess it shows how different individual tastes can be.

Allure tweeted a spoiler a couple days ago, and it showed, I think, 5 different colors that could be in the boxes so there’s hope you won’t get blue.

Wow that’s some serious hatred. I personally love blue nail polish. I prefer gray – blues or muted tones.

Me too. Love blues. I am so sick of reds… I got 7 last year, any color but red here. Probably would unsub due to color though.

I am happy I unsubscribed to this box service. They don’t seem to be as wonderful as they once were. The Philosophy sample I hope is a joke seeing how they are free from the company until February. Shampoo, conditioner, and perfume are the three things I hate to see in a box as well because you can get samples of them all year long for free.

I’m glad I cancelled this sub. I just don’t love anything I see from them any more. I’m happier to spend my money on birchbox or ipsy, they cost less and I feel like I get much more value from them and come away with more products that I like or love.

I’m not sure it’s worth resubscribing to get it, but I would be very interested in swapping for the philosophy moisturizer. 🙂

H I Laurie, That’s good to know, because, I think you will have about thirty taker’s on your offer ;). In fact, I can’t use any philosophy products at all(fragrance issue). So, if you have any moisturizer samples you would like to trade, let me know. ALSO–If anyone received Abbey Rose last month-but wanted the Teddy Bear(or whatever the heck it was called) lavender color-I would love to trade. I can’t do light pink…

Laurie
I may take you up on that, Chelsea – I love philosophy!

I hit the cancel button. These boxes just keep on missing it for me. This will be my last box, only because it already shipped.

I tried to subscribe to this box a few months ago, when it was new-ish and people were excited about it. But their system wouldn’t accept my address, even though I get deliveries from their sister sites all the time.
Apparently, that was the universe rescuing me from disappointment, because every box since then has been a major letdown.

Mine too. I’ve always wanted to try that soap and I’m excited to try the reformulated Hope in a Jar since I like the orignal formula. I never say no to a new Zoya polish and the other items will be wait and see for me. Overall I’m satisfied.
