Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Theme

Each box comes with a letter detailing the theme of the month, and hints at the next month’s box. For January, the theme is “The Dining Car,” inspired by Downton Abbey.

The theme for the February box will be “The Lovers, the Dreamers, and Me” and will include “hidden gems for you and your home.”

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Info

On the flipside of the letter each item included is detailed, complete with retail value.

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Tea Set

Siena Tea Collection Tea for One Set – Retail Value $30 (On Amazon for $24)

I couldn’t imagine a Downton Abbey inspired box without something tea related, and I think this is a perfect item. (It’s also one of Oprah’s favorite things!)

Here’s the set apart:

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Cup

I drink tea everyday, so this item is a win for me. (It also came with a saucer – I totally forgot to get a picture of it).

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Spoon

Beckman 1802 Authentic Hand Forged Britannia Fruit Spoon – Value $20

This spoon is made from a 18th century spoon mold that was found in the back of an abandoned shop on the grounds of the Beekman Mansion!

The detail work on it is beautiful:

And amazingly enough, it is dishwasher safe!

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Honey

Lucy B Roll On Perfume Oil in Royal Fig and Vanilla Woods – Value $19

Capital Bee Raw Hand Cut Holly Honeycomb – Value $7

(Subscribers will receive one of a variety of perfume scents). I like the scent of this perfume, and I may try swapping for some of the other scents.

And this honey goes perfectly with the tea theme!

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Book

How to Be a Lady by Candace Simpson-Giles – Value $17

It looks like this is a special edition cover made just for subscribers! Here is a look inside:

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Beauty

Royal Apothic Bubble Cream – Value $20

This is a body wash cream – it creates a lather, but isn’t the typical body wash gel. I like the somewhat subtle perfume scent of the Holland Park version, and the packaging is beautiful!

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Pins

Downton Abbey Hair Jewelry – Value $24

I didn’t know there was a Downton Abbey jewelry line, but it makes so much sense! I think these hair pins are the right tough of jewelry/sparkle for this box, and they even mentioned in the letter than since they sent jewelry in the December box, they weren’t going to overdo it with this box.

Verdict: I said the same thing with the November Little Lace box, but I don’t know how they do it! This box has so much value, and you can also tell that so much thought and curation went into putting it together. This box has a value of about $131 – amazing for the $40 a month cost.

I’m really happy with the products this month, plus I’ve been binge-watching Downton Abbey this past week, so I’m all about the theme! What do you think of the January Little Lace Box?

  1. I would love to buy the January box, if anyone is selling. My email is [email protected]

    • Same here! If anyone wants to sell or swap/trade all or part of the Jan or Feb box please email me at [email protected]. Thank you!

  2. If anybody has the purple teapot and wants to sell their box, please email me at [email protected].

  3. I really enjoy my LLB subscription. This month is so fun. I received the amber perfume and love it. I started with November and I have enjoyed every single box. It’s like a good friend sending me a gift each month from the heart. I highly recommend this box to everyone I know.

  4. Finally came to the conclusion someone will love this box more than me! If you’re interested in purchasing the box please email me [email protected]

  5. I got my box today!!! Everything is PERFECT! I just love everything! I have been wanting a teapot forever. I drink tea a few times a day and I was really hope something tea related would be in this box. My teapot is light greyish color with lavender. My perfume is royal Egyptian Amber and honeysuckle which is PERFECT for me. I love it. Love the spoon and the book and everything! So excited about this box. I had canceled after my first box but when they revealed the theme for Jan I signed right back up and thank goodness I did because everyone is trying to sign up now. I can’t wait to see what next month will bring!

  6. It was an enjoyable experience opening this box. I love all the little details that makes the theme work. This box made me smile 🙂

I received the same tea for one set as Liz. I saw the mint and lilac set which I think is gorgeous. This one works well since I am the only female in my house. It is perfect timing because I’ve been looking at tea for one sets at HomeGoods.

The packaging on the items are perfect for the theme. My perfume oil is the white lotus & Vanilla Musk which has a nice scent that I can smell throughout the day. The spoon is amazing and also has detailing on the back. The bubble cream has a wonderful scent 🙂 The hair pins are sparkly without being flashy. The book arrived at the right time. I’m enrolling my older son into a manners class for college interviews etc. I need to be brushed up on my manners too!

We love honey and was excited to see honey in the box. The boys saw it and wanted to eat the honeycomb right away. Perfect touch because it can be used in tea, on toast etc.

I’m impressed with the box and the theme. I think they have done a wonderful job with their boxes. I found the company to be responsive and helpful. I can’t wait to see the next box!

  7. Here’s what I so love about LLB: even if there is something that’s not my cup of tea (see what I did there? I crack myself up), the items are always of such high quality, that I always have a stash of gifts ready to go. I adore this subscription, and even when I forgot to update my credit card, they saved a box for me… other subs just say, “too bad, so sad.” They worked with me to get a box to me this month until I could get my card updated (there was a problem with the site allowing me to update it). I don’t know how they do this and still make any money. I think they blow Pop sugar out of the water.

  8. Wow, ladies jump on the mean wagon. Let’s keep in mind that this sub is only a few months old, and it’s my understanding that it was created by a couple of 20 something sisters. With that said, I think they are doing a fabulous job. Especially with costumer service, curation, cost, and the thought they put into their box.
With that said, I was on the waiting list for two months, January was my first box. I created an account on the LLB site, and commented in their reviews section, “Why are there annual sub available but I can’t I purchase a monthly sub?” (I was a bit annoyed)
To my surprise they emailed me, apologized and told me they could add me to the waiting list.
Then they told me, first they give their current monthy subscribers time to opt in or out, then they give customers a chance to purchase annual subs, if there are any leftover they email the alotted number of waitlist subs, until they’re gone, then they open up the system to the general public for the reserved public subs.

I hope I got that right…anyways its worth the wait, they are quick to respond to questions, and they seem to sincerely care about their customers. They blow the other subs I have out of the water……I’ve only gotten one box, but out of PSMH, BB, Ipsy,Julep & glossybox they win January! I mean you can see the love & thought they put into the curation, I cant say enough about how impressed I am. Plus, I received better customer service from them before I was a customer, then I ever have from any of my subs.

I’m soooo excited for the months to come!! (Especially February!)
    Keep it up LLB!

  9. Love this box! If anyone is interested in selling their entire box, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks!

  10. Got my January box yesterday and I love it! I think the curation is fantastic and am so excited I signed up for a year. The reviews and comments on here are so helpful!

  11. I got my box yesterday and still not my favorite box. But I’m not a tea drinker. The tea pot will make an excellent gift though. I would’ve selected different things for vintage glamour but that’s just me personally. I wish the hairpins had been a necklace or earrings, I rarely wear hair pins. The bubble cream is nice, love the packaging and smells amazing. I also really liked my perfume though I was hoping for the same Liz got. I got honeysuckle and amber and it’s really delicious, gorgeous packaging too. The honey is in a really nice glass container and while I don’t normally eat honey, I have been since I’ve been sick this week and it’s delicious. I just don’t get the fruit spoon. Spoons are not something I collect and seems too good for normal everyday use.

  12. How did they do this box for the price? I’m in shock. It’s so beautifully put together and it’s obvious how much thought and care went into the curation. The spoon is so pretty and unique. The teapot set just adorable. The hair clips are gorgeous and perfect timing to be used in my rapidly unruly growing-out pixie cut. The scents are so pretty and nice formulations. And there’s no one who can’t benefit from a refresher on manners and graceful living. Well done LLB team!

  13. I’ve seen a few people wanting to buy the box, I just received mine yesterday and its unopened. If you’re interested email me [email protected] I will sell for the 39.99 I paid plus $10 shipping. Thanks!

  14. Another win for me. LLB walks the line between beautiful and useful so well–the items they choose are never what I expect, but I always end up using them all. After seeing how hard it’s gotten to sign up for this, I’m extra grateful for whatever random hunch compelled me to sign up back in August. After 5 months, I’m always impressed and never bored.

  15. Received my box today and again so impressed with the thought and products. Unfortunately my teapot also came broken so will have to email them. Wished I would have received the fig perfume but mine was musk. Can hardly wait to read the book.

    • My teapot arrived broken as well 🙁 I emailed them as soon as I opened it though, and they emailed me back right away and said they would send a new one ASAP, so that’s nice! Other than that, I am in LOVE with this box!

      • My saucer for the teapot was broken. Within half an hour of emailing them I got 2 responses from different people at LLB. Both were super apologetic and immediately mailed out a replacement. Loving this box.

  16. Love love love this box!!! I am so thrilled I got this sub!! I was seriously getting underwhelmed with tons of subs and finally someone pulled through. I am not a tea drinker but even w/o that it is an excellent box. So much thought behind it! Love

  17. I received this box today and I think it is AMAZING. I’m so very impressed with the quality and curation of everything in it. Wow. Unfortunately my teapot arrived broken, which is a huge bummer since it is my favorite item in the box. I’ve emailed LLB to see if I can get a replacement. Crossing fingers. But still, I am really loving this box. (I loved last month’s too, using that day planner has seriously made me so much more productive!)

    • ^^ update on broken teapot above. I emailed them and they were amazing about getting back to me in less than an hour. They have already shipped out a replacement! Awesome customer service. Hooray for LLB.

      • I had the same issue! I emailed them as well and they got back to me SO fast and offered to ship me a replacement which was very appreciated. They may have some ordering hiccups to work out but overall I’m very impressed!

  18. Got February’s box for $14.49 by applying points earned by reviewing November’s box. Such a good deal!

    • Hi Jen,
Can I ask how you do this?? Do you have a recurring subscription? Or did you un/resubscribe to use the points? I would love to be able to apply the review points I’ve accumulated to future monthly boxes! (currently I have the regular recurring monthly sub).

      Thanks for the help!

      • Yes, I’m intrigued too. This will be my first box so I can’t be certain how the points system works.
I read that it’s 50 points, equal to $1, per item reviewed.
You got over $25 off after one month?

      • I unsubscribed after November due to budget stuff, but I reviewed everything I got. I just re subscribed for February and had 1280 points from reviewing and purchasing the November box to apply. Pretty great!

      • Wow, nice! I subbed for a year because I thought it would be the only way to get on board with LLB.
I suppose I could save my year’s worth of accumulated points and use it for another year, lol.

  19. WOW!! I have had at least 40 emails from people looking to do swaps!

    • “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

  20. How can one be confused about how to use a spoon??? lol We have an ongoing joke about a fancy pants friend and her antique berry spoons which we’ve heard oh so much about…they’re antique from England…said braggart is 50 and lives with her parents(rolleyes) So you can only imagine my absolute glee when I opened this…not quite as posh as sterling and it didn’t specify berries, just fruit…but ooh the amusement, laughter and delight to know that I too now own a berry spoon. You must say it with a proper English accent. It just sounds like money. Old money. Berry spoon.
Now as for the book…offensive? What I find offensive is the lack of manners in our society of late. When the day comes I actually receive RSVPs for a party then perhaps I’ll get on the offensive bandwagon. My daughter, while possessing proper manners can be rather piggish shall we say around family. This arrived just in time to slip into her gift bag which she opened after she belched her way through her birthday dinner. Well done LLB.
Lastly I must second that I truly do appreciate the un-inflated values. I want a bit of luxury but nothing obscene please…for that I’ll go into it eyes open when I bend over.

  21. This was one of if not the best lifestyle sub box I’ve ever gotten (and I’ve subbed to them all at some point). The curation is thoughtful, the value is reasonable (not overinflated), the items full size and from brands that are mostly new to me. I didn’t adore last month since I’m not a paper planner person but it was still well done overall. My teapot is in lavender and pale mint, a lovely color combo. I’ve wanted a one serving set like this for ages and almost bought one a week ago. The spoon is beautiful and feels very high end. The cleanser has a nice scent and good lather. The perfume oil is fabulous. Who knew green figs smelled so good? I’m enjoying e book and plan to share it with my girls as well. I don’t find it insulting at all like some appeared to be, since everyone can use a little reminder or some pointers here and there. And the honey was coincidentally perfectly timed since I used up the last of my jar from Mantry this morning. The variety was wonderful this month as was the quantity/quality ratio. While I don’t usually use hair clips this set is beautiful enough that I might give them a try, which for me is the reason I sub to mystery boxes, to expand my product horizons and try new things I might not have otherwise found. I like that they’re staying small. Most monthly startup subs flounder when they get too big too fast. From a business perspective it is a wise decision to pace their expansion. Could the wait list process be better managed? sure. Hopefully feedback will have an impact soon on that point. Constructive feedback is very helpful that way. I say good job ladies and keep up the good work.

    • For those confused about how to use one spoon, just treat it like a regular serving spoon versus an individual teaspoon (which it’s not in any event). It would look lovely on any table IMO.

      • I think that spoon is perfect to use it with clotted cream and jams. It seems very royal to me and classy. I can’t wait for my box to get here….

  22. I LOVE the Downtown Abbey Jewelry Line. I’ve been slowing collecting for months, LOL!

  23. Does anyone still have the Whitney English Mini Day Designer from December’s Little Lace Box?

I have a lot of great items I’m willing to swap for it, and I’m even open to buying. Please let me know. My name is the same under the swap site or you can email me a [email protected]

    • Thanks so much to everyone who responded to my comment! I finally have my own Whitney Englsh Mini Day Designer and I can’t wait to put it to good use 🙂

  24. I was beyond thrilled to find this huge box greeting me when I arrived home. Even though have yet to watch Downton, everything is right up my alley. What a nice treat it will be to start the series cozied up with a beautiful mug of tea. I replaced PSMH with this and am so thankful that I did, now if only I could get my hands on that crimson clutch from the Oct box…

  25. I couldn’t help but look, mine should be arriving anyday. Another great box I can’t wait to receive!

  26. Based on the past boxes I bit the bullet and did a year’s subscription to ensure I got a box each month.
So this is my first box and while I appreciate that it is a great box for me personally it’s very disappointing.

Teapot way too small and I have at least 10 teapots
I don’t wear hair clips- I have short hair
I have a set of lovely silver spoons (plus my everyday ones)
Even honey — I love honey but we have a farmer’s market here so I’m well stocked on honey
And ( and I know this is weird) I don’t like body washes.

Wonderfully curated box but I will be selling the whole thing

    • Whew! I’m glad it’s not just me who’s underwhelmed. I was beginning to think I was weird for not loving the box.

    • I love this box, but I’d have hated the November one that everybody seemed to love so much, so I know what you mean. Usually with a sub you can look at past boxes and guess whether you’ll like future ones, but that may not be possible with this one.

    • I would love to purchase this box from anyone willing to sell it. Thanks!

      • I know that you’re interested in buying, but I’m waiting until I actually receive the box before selling/swapping it.
I will keep you in mind.

    • I would love to buy your box. I haven’t been successful in getting on the list.

      • Would anyone interested in buying the complete box please email me directly [email protected]

I have tons of swap offers but selling the whole box might be the easiest thing to do

Please remember that shipping would be high

  27. This is is best box out there! Love everything.

  28. So excited! My tracking number still just shown label created. Definitely something to look forward to! I really wanted to skip spoilers but just couldn’t help myself. 😉

  29. This box looks amazing and I can hardly wait to get it. I keep checking my tracking number but is says it has only been notified to pick up but USPS has not received yet. Am hoping to get before the end of the month so I can get the special review points. I am then going to go ahead and get the annual subscription.

  30. It looks like I have a wonderful box to look foward to when I come back home. I can’t wait to see everything! I’ve been looking at the tea for one pots at HomeGoods so this is perfect timing. The spoon looks like a serving spoon. Love what I see!

Going to read a few more blog entries and then back to the conference and chocolate. Love the conference is at Hershey. Yummy!

I hope it works out for everyone who is trying to subscribe.

  31. This message is from their facebook page;

ATTENTION LLB FANS! Thanks for all the love today! It was so overwhelming that we are experiencing a few site issues. Please be patient and check back in a few hours to sign up for the monthly or annual subscription. We are working to resolve the issue and will be back up soon! Thank you! XO LLB Team

  32. What is going on? I have been trying to get on the website in attempts to order a box but it has been down for about an hour and it is now redirecting me to Go Daddy. com. Frustrating! I really want to try this box

  33. Is anyone being directed to a GoDaddy website link? This site crashed big time. Too bad because I was ready to buy today.

    • I just got that same thing! Man, they really tanked. I was excited to buy too.

    • I am not even getting that. Just a blank screen.. The more I think about it-,the more i am convinced this was taken down by someone or a group-that was irked they could not subscribe to a box. As I have talked about before on here.

  34. I have been anxiously waiting for this box to arrive, and it looks like I still have a day or two, but I am so thrilled with everything in it! I have been looking for a little tea pot for one for so long, and this couldn’t have been better timing! The tea pot set is amazing and that spoon looks gorgeous! Not to mention everything else in the box!

I promised myself I would cut down on my boxes to save money, but I just can’t get rid of this box. The items are wonderfully curated and the value is simply amazing. I echo Liz’s thoughts, how do they do it?!

  35. I don’t watch Downton Abbey, and for the longest time I thought people was calling it Downtown Abbey lol. I also don’t drink tea, but I love everything in my box and will be using the teapot to boil hot water for my coffee.

  36. I can only imagine that they really want people to subscribe for an annual subscription. I wish I could afford to do that! This box looks GREAT to me, I wish I could have ordered it!

  37. Oh No! I’m trying to buy their box right now and it’s 4 pm ET and it says the site is down for maintenance! 🙁

    • That is what I get as well. I think they should fill the current waitlist with these -and then sell the rest.

Looks as if their advertising paid off as the servers have crashed.

      • I thought they would’ve been better prepared! It’s frustrating for sure.

  38. Okay. You’ve convinced me. I’m going to have to spring for this one. I wish I’d gotten this box. That spoon would fit my silverware collection perfectly! And I just wanna read that book and have tea! I’m so jealous! I’m crossing my fingers that some of these things show up on the swap site.

  39. I peeked at this review even though I wanted to open my box unspoiled – I have no will power! I just started drinking tea again, so I’m excited about the pot and hoping for a good (for me) color.

Good value and I just love the curation. So thoughtful, even when everything isn’t perfect for me, I can see why they chose things. I am impatient to unbox mine later today!

    • I’m right there with you! My box won’t arrive until tomorrow, but I couldn’t help but look and see! This made me even more excited to get my box, if that’s possible!

    • I did the same thing! Can’t wait for my box to get here!

  40. Yay! Yay! Yay!! I love it all!! I know I shouldn’t have opened this to look at the spoilers since I haven’t even received my tracking info yet, but I just couldn’t help myself! Everything looks so cute, and it appears it all totally fits the theme! That book is so clever, I can see the women of DA being a huge influce to why that book was chosen, they’re all perfect! It will make a great coffee table book! AH! I just want mine to get here so I can play with everything!! Thanks for the quick post Liz!

  41. I love this box to pieces. I considered canceling the subscription since I bought the year of Oui Please and it’s $$$.. but I’m so glad I didn’t cancel. I’ve cut back on subs since I am overflowing in make up but this one is in it for the long haul.

  42. I am beyond excited for this box. I looooooove it! I am a huge Downton Abbey fan (I was blessed enough to be able to go to the castle this past September). I was debating on signing up for LLB, because they only had the year sub available when I got around to it, but I really enjoyed seeing the contents of November and December, and knowing the January theme, I decided it was worth the gamble. So glad I did it.

  43. I love this box (not a surprise, I love all LLB boxes!) I drink tea, so I will put this cute teapot in use right away. Very happy with honey, my kids only drink tea with honey, but I will try to introduce them to toast with honey and let them try honeycomb! Also excited for fruit spoon, so special! My parfum is Water Lotus and Vanilla Musk. Nice.
I already read some of “How to be a lady” and it put me in a very good mood, I was giggling and it is quite entertaining!

  44. Oh dear! I signed up for an entire year and this will be my first box.
I haven’t received mine yet, but looking at this review the whole thing looks a little twee.
I’d never use a tea for one set as the cups are always too small. I drink tea by the gallon, well close enough.
I don’t know what I’d do with a single spoon, however pretty. As for the book, I already know how to behave like a lady, thank you very much.
The hair clips are spot on, but I can’t wear anything in my hair.
The honey is a hit, at least.
I hope I feel differently when it arrives but I may have to trade the complete box. How disappointing.

    • You may be able to sell the entire box, I did that with December’s since I didn’t have a use for the items. I found so many people willing to buy it and even willing to pay the extra shipping.

      • That’s an idea. How did you figure out shipping charges? And did the buyer pay via PayPal?
Sorry for the questions, I’ve never done this before.

      • I personally estimated the shipping because I sell a lot on ebay and swaps so I can estimate pretty well. I was 2.00 under but I didn’t mind the small loss. Decembers box was small but this one looks very large/heavy. Go to and have the shipping cost estimated by the weight and zip codes. Have the person pay you via Paypal. The value is so high on this one even though the shipping will prob be a bit they shouldn’t have a problem with that.

      • Thanks for your help Barbie. Now all I have to do is decide whether it’s worth swapping everything separately or selling the entire box.

    • I would be willing to purchase the entire box from you if you do decided to sell. My email is [email protected]. Thanks!

    • Let me know if you want to trade or sell the box. I would be more than happy to take it.

    • You could donate the hair clips to a group that provides prom dresses for disadvantaged girls. They would be beautiful in an updo or in a short haircut holding bangs back for prom or homecoming. Most of those groups collect shoes and jewelry as well as dresses. Great place to get rid of old bridesmaid dresses, too! (and a tax write off)

  45. This goes on sale to the public today at 4PM. (1:30PM now) So that means it will be sold out by 4:10. This is THE WRONG way to do business. One can not even subscribe to it for the next 31 days and get on the next available month. I have told them that-they got obnoxious. Oh well. Much as I love the box-and want it–as it looks to be classy-this is one I will never get. That is, unless it’s gifted to me (as lilee was-by i do not know whom) . So when I read the reviews for this box i do it with a bit of ire.

    • I think they have a set number of boxes they can send each month based on the vendors they use and what those vendors are able to produce. Just think, if you’re a small batch company, you may not be able to produce 500-700 of an item in 20 some odd days.

      • I agree..But they are doing something right as they have captured the hearts and minds of a lot of ladies. Thus they need to think long term and not just by month. If there are 500 boxes given out in Jan-and the wait list is over 1000..then starting with the planning of May’s or June’s box–they should be able to procure that make boxes. Thus giving the vendors time to make the goods.

They are a small company and learning-I just wish they would listen better. And commit to long term planning.

      • I understand Alex… And also to the LLB, if you’re doing more than 500 boxes a month I apologize, just throwing a number out there as an example lol..

      • Alex – I can see why you are frustrated. Hopefully in the future they will give the waitlist an opportunity to pick up the next sub before allowing the general public to describe.

They did write a few months ago that they decided for now to stay small.

      • I do not think they have the right people in place that know and understand HOW to grow the company. Nor in customer relations. Can you imagine if ipsy did this every month?? Servers would be down for days. And they ( their waitlists.

Yes-i am frustrated-I’ll stick with lilee, com and french box–both of which are nicer, IMHO. Maybe add wantable intimates.

      • Agreed… But that’s no excuse for their customer service to be obnoxious to anyone. Their communications just seem a little tone deaf, which is a shame because these really are nice boxes and a good value.

      • They have a waitlist-which anyone can sign up for–so instead of “selling’ these boxes like this–why not email the waitlist folks-in order of appearance-and let them know they are now off of it and Feb will be their first box??? Instead-the waitlist is a MONTHLY waitlist AFTER the boc for that month has sold out. Thus the customer feels inclined to sign on a wait list monthly.

i agree..I wish they were more open to criticism as well. But they are defensive.

    • I’m not really sure what you’re talking about. I just signed up for the monthly subscription without being put on any wait list.

      • When they are all sold out for the month–you can go on a wait list. I was on one in December and January. But yes, I was able to subscribe to February’s as well.My contention is the orders should be filled first with those on the wait list for the previous month-first–and the rest sold.

    • Wow, they were obnoxious to you? I seriously have never had anything but amazing customer service experiences with LLB (and I’ve reached out to them for various reasons on multiple occasions). Which is not to say it didn’t happen to you; only that I’m really surprised to hear that and genuinely hope you will give them another chance. It’s really hard to grow companies to scale, particularly if you are a company that wants to maintain a commitment to sourcing from other small business vendors, which is something that has genuinely impressed me about LLB and added tons of intangible value. When growing a business, it’s not even just about long-term planning or having the right people working for you (all important for the success of a business)…often it ultimately comes down to capital concerns and being able to get the right investors or business loans to allow you to operate outside of a month-to-month, or even three month production schedule. Many investors- rightly so- usually want both a cut of profit margins, as well as a say in how their money is used. The former often means prices per box will have to go up to allow both owners, investors, and vendors to make a profit, which in turn potentially precludes a certain market share from being able to afford to purchase. As for the level/impact of an investor’s influence, well I’d be sad if they jumped in to bed with the wrong investor just to try to “grow fast/produce at a higher scale” and because of that, we ended up with a bunch of mass-produced “meh” products that did nothing to put money in the pockets of some of the small and/or women-owned businesses that LLB is currently sourcing from. I’m not saying all this to be rude to anyone; I just have been there before as a small-business owner and been faced with some of those same worries and decisions. And then, maybe even had a bad day and wasn’t quite up to the challenge of expressing this dilemma in a gracious, straight-forward way. Not saying that’s what happened either…but maybe?

  46. I hope I will get mine this month! I haven’t recieved tracking yet.

  47. One of my favorite boxes I’ve seen from any subscription lately. I love it! 🙂

  48. What a lovely box!

  49. Glorious! I’ve had my eye on this sub box for a while and I’m sorry I didn’t snatch it up sooner. Now that I’m fine tuning the makeup subs I can consider finding a spot for this lil beauty on my list. It seems like a nice change of pace.

  50. I haven’t received mine yet, still waiting for it, hopefully I’ll get it today. I had really high hopes for this box, not my favorite, but I understand the curation. I don’t drink tea, so that’s a major factor in it not being my favorite. Yes Downton Abbey has a jewelry line I think I first saw it at David’s Bridal, I got a beautiful pair of earrings. The bobby pins are pretty but I might not wear them. The teapot is really cute and will make a great gift for my aunt. I can’t wait to get this box.
