DermStore Mystery Grab Bags Available Now

DermStore has just introduced 5 new grab bags for the New Year:

DermStore Mystery Grab Bags Available Now! Options DermStore Mystery Grab Bags Available Now! Hair DermStore Mystery Grab Bags Available Now! Eyes

Are you grabbing any? (FYI - from what I can tell, these grab bags can't be combined with any coupon discounts, but I did get a free People Magazine subscription in my cart when I added two of the grab bags!)

Rebate update:

I received my second People Magazine in the mail yesterday. Today, there was a $30 refund check in my mailbox. Happy camper over here! lol

anna

The same here 🙂 check came today, yesterday I got my second People magazine. I hope that will keep coming ;-D

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley

When I placed my grab bag order, I requested the $30 refund for the People magazine subscription. I followed all the rules: mailed in the form with my receipt, called to confirm my address, etc. I just went to my mailbox and there was a People magazine in there. Bummer. Not that I dislike People magazine, but I would rather have had my $30.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

I called them yesterday about my refund (when the People mag arrived). She looked up my account and said it showed that my refund check of $30.00 was scheduled to be mailed on Feb. 16th. I guess the magazine subscription just went through for the first issue.

Suzym

You did better than I. I got the People today after requesting the refund and calling to confirm my address. I called today and they cancelled People but said it was going to “review” and would take another six to eight weeks.

Lexie

With any luck, you’ll continue to get the magazine AND get a check in the mail in a few weeks!

Emily

Same here. 🙁

PA Anna

I received People magazine today too although I did not request a refund. I hope you are able to straighten it out.

I ordered the Time Traveler bag, which was on backorder when I placed my order. Finally got it today and it is a big assortment of WTF:

Philosophy Purity 3-in-1 Cleanser 1 oz. x 2 — $3 each, $6 total
Juice Beauty Green Apple Cleansing Gel 2 oz. — $13
Medicell Labs Advanced Moisture Eye Mask Duo 1 Duo — $9.98
Nick Chavez Advanced Volume Shampoo 2 oz. — $7
Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Body Lotion 1.3 oz. – $2.86
Beauty Blender Sponge — $19.95
Lorac Front of the Line Liquid Eyeliner .02 oz. — $23
Laura Geller Light Beams Lip Gloss .22 oz. — $17
Peter Thomas Roth Mascara .17 oz. — $13.75
Caviar Repair Lengthening Hair and Scalp Elixir .25 oz. – $5.58

Of these items, NOT ONE has anything to do with caring for aging skin, and only three products are for skin at all. This is such a random assortment of stuff, it’s like someone walked around Dermstore’s stockroom in a blindfold filling the box. Also, the total value of what I received is only 118.12, a far cry from the $173+ value advertised. I am really disappointed, and writing to Dermstore to let them know.

Michelle

Yeah, that doesn’t sound at all like the other time traveler bag listed below, I bet it is a mistake.

It’s interesting because I ordered the TT bag, along with hair rescue one, and after they had both supposedly been shipped I got a call from customer service saying they had sent the wrong item for the TT bag and would resend that bag. Then my package got lost and when I finally got the package this morning it was just hair rescue and no “wrong” item, so I don’t know what the heck they were thinking. Supposedly the TT bag is still on its way, but they seem to be having some issues with that one!

Reply ButtonReply

Emily Riley

That’s so weird. I’ve never dealt with Dermstore before, but they’re not making a great first impression, that’s for sure. Did you order your TT back when it was already on backorder?

Curious to know if others in my boat are just getting a random array of makeup and haircare. Off to check MUT…

Michelle

I finally got my hair grab bag – same items as listed below. Although the value isn’t what I expected, I’m still pleased to try the date shampoo and the hair mask, so that’s worth what I paid, so I’m not unhappy. Waiting on the time travelers bag, which I’m really excited about based on the products others have posted!

-Harry Josh Carbon Tail Comb – ? ($5)
-Julien Farel Vitamin Restore – ? ($1)
-Intelligent Beauty Labs Rescue Rapid Repair Hair Mask (6 oz) – $15 (sale price) (Full Size)
-Klorane Extra-Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk (1.06 oz) – $9
-Follimedica Thinning Hair Therapy (3.4 oz) – $20 (Full Size)
-Fekkai Full Blown Volume Shampoo (2 oz) – $5
-Klorane Shampoo with desert date (6.7 oz) – $15 (Full Size)

(Total estimated value $70 (estimating values for samples and comb)
Advertised value $125+)

Lola

I ordered hair rescue as well and got, to my suprise an Eboost water infuser!? And full size skin cleanser it was a weird buy

Reply ButtonReply

PA Anna

Wow. That is strange. Was everything packaged in a plastic bag? Thanks Michelle for the prices. I did not think it matched the advertized value.

Panda

I purchased the Revolution Kick-Start kit. Here are the values of the 8 pieces, from highest to lowest

1) Zents, pear oil concentrate, 5 mL, $38 (full-size)
2) skylark memoir fragrance collection $20 (full-size)
3) Perricone MD, chloro plasma treatment mask, 0.4 fl oz ~$16
4) Pevonia, ligne power repair hydrating cleanser, 1.7 fl oz $13.5
5) Medicell advanced moisture eye mask duo, 2 patches, $12
6) Trophy skin, Argan stem cell serum, 4mL sample size foil packet, $6.4
7) Kat Burki, hibiscus face mask, 0.23 oz, $4
8) Dr Dennis gross, alpha beta peel original formula, surface refiner (step one) and deeper treatment (step two), 1 treatment , $3.2

The approximate value, based on my calculation, is $113, which is not too far from the advertised value of $125+

Note the the two full sized items and highest value items were fragrance based rather than skin care products. I would have personally preferred more skin care items.

Hope this helps!

I got my eye grab bag yesterday, and I was really pleased! I was torn between the eye and the time travelers bag, so I was happy with the non-eye things, like the SkinMedica Lytera Skin Brightening System travel kit. Overall I think this was a good value and certainly I will use everything.

Reply ButtonReply

Mary

I purchased the eye, resolution and time traveler bag. No indication of which was which and packaging was a plastic bag in a cardboard box. Eh.

I am happy with variety and glad to have all these different brands to try. Like others, the retail value was WAY overstated, but I do feel that I at least got what I paid for.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley

If you just *need* to know (like I did, lol), you can match the product code on your packing slip to the little white sticker on the outside of each plastic bag.

Reply ButtonReply

LAURA

I feel like a sucker. I really didn’t think that for the retail value they were advertising, that the Time Traveler bag would be 5 deluxe sample sizes and 2 full size items, 1 of which clearly says “Gift with purchase, not for retail sale”. I like trying these products so I’m happy with the variety, but I would have rather not had 3-4 products that are obvious free samples with any other purchase. Super stoked to get the People Mag subscription though! That makes the entire box worth it for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I’m so bummed, mine was supposed to arrive today, but despite UPS saying it was delivered, it wasn’t. I’ve been so eager to try all these products out! I called customer service and they said just to wait and see if the package shows up…. Which seems like an odd response since UPS has already said it was delivered, but I guess I’m going to have to wait and call them back tomorrow if it doesn’t magically appear. Sigh.

Ashley

I got Time Travelers and Eye Perfectors. My TT bag included the same items as previously posted, except I didn’t get the SkinCeuticals Advanced Pigment Corrector. I just got the other 7 items. I haven’t seen a listing of the EP bag, so here’s what I got:

Joanna Vargas Skincare Daily Serum (5 ml, marked “sample – not for sale”)
SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair (.07 oz)
SkinMedica Replenish Hydrating Cream (.25 oz)
Medicell Labs Advanced Moisture Eye Mask Duo (2 patches)
Medicell Labs Advanced Youth Firming Eye Cream (.5 oz)
SmartFX SmartEye Wrinkle Lift (.4 oz)
SkinMedica Lytera Skin Brightening System travel kit. Includes a zippered bag, Facial Cleanser (1 oz), Lytera Skin Brightening Complex (.25 oz), Retinol Complex (.25 oz), Daily Physical Defense Sunscreen SPF 30 (1 oz)

After the discount and the magazine rebate (which, hopefully, I will receive), I paid $45.95 for these two bags. I haven’t taken the time to add up all the values, but, all-in-all, I’m satisfied that the value is there. I should be set on cleansers, serums, moisturizers and eye creams for quite a while. lol

Reply ButtonReply

raindrop

The SkinCeuticals Advanced Pigment Corrector was a free sample that some people got, it wasn’t part of the bag. You should have gotten a free sample with your purchase.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley

Oh, okay. Yeah, there were a couple little loose samples in my box, but they weren’t in the Time Travelers bag, so I didn’t list them. Thanks for the info!

Cindy

This is the same ‘eye’ box I got. I am unhappy that less than half of the product is actually for the eye. I went on the website and see that I can return my purchase with free shipping. That is what I intend to do.

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

Well, I have looked more closely into the details. The free shipping is only if you are returning for a ‘credit’. If you are returning for a refund, it appears that you must pay shipping.

PA Anna

I received the Hair Rescuers and Gym Bag Buddies. Both are as posted in other posts. I’m happy that I can use most of the products.

Reply ButtonReply

anna

They say the full size cream in Time Traveler should be good for people with rosacea. Check it out 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

PA Anna

Anna -Thank you for letting me know. I looked it up and it sounds promising. I am going to try out once my other moisturizer runs out. I purposely did not buy that bag thinking there would be nothing for rosacea or the items would bother it. Go figure.

PA Anna

I want to add that if a sub company wants to put together a one time hair box for thick hair that is paraben and sulfate-free I would buy it instantly.

Reply ButtonReply

reda

So I got time traveler’s bag:
epionce anti -aging lip repair .42 oz
time bomb cleansing cream 1 oz
darphin hydrating kiwi mask .5 oz
skinceuticals advance pigment corrector 12 ml
juara clover flower youth serum .34 oz
peterthomasroth-anti-aging cleansing gel2 oz
sampar ultra hydrating fluid- .5 oz
alchimie kantic calming cream 1.7 oz

Overall I am very impressed, good value.

Reply ButtonReply

Erin

I purchased the Resolution Kickstarters and the Hair Rescuers. I haven’t seen any comments with the products from the hair kit yet, so here they are:

-Harry Josh Carbon Tail Comb
-Julien Farel Vitamin Restore (small sample tub, no size listed)
-Intelligent Beauty Labs Rescue Rapid Repair Hair Mask (6 oz)
-Klorane Extra-Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk (1.06 oz)
-Follimedica Thinning Hair Therapy (3.4 oz)
-Fekkai Full Blown Volume Shampoo (2 oz)
-Klorane Shampoo with desert date (6.7 oz)

I received the same products in my Kickstarters bag as already commented on, and two samples were thrown into the box as well.

I figure each bag cost about the same as a Glossybox once I applied a discount code so I’m not too disappointed as I’ll also get the free People subscription. Not sure I’d order another in the future without some kind of additional discount.

Reply ButtonReply

Miranda

Thank you for posting. I got the same two bags and I’m really looking forward to the Klorane Shampoo and the Fekkai shampoo (regular price is $20 for 8 ounces).

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

Hmm, I got a really different impression about this, thought the stuff is way better than the most recent Sample Society, Total Beauty and Bareminerals grab bags. I got the time traveler, and there were really generous samples of higher end products and a couple of full sized ones, and all seem to get good reviews. I guess we each have our preferences, I am happy.

Reply ButtonReply

anna

What was in traveler bag?

Reply ButtonReply

raindrop

I got the Eye Perfector and Time Traveler bags. I actually spent the time adding up the values, and neither is worth anywhere near the price they advertised. It’s still a pretty high value, but still – Eye Perfector is about $160-180 (they promised $250) and Time Traveler is about $137 (promised $173).

I don’t like how much they inflated the values, but what I really hate is that they filled the bags with things marked as “Free Sample, not for resale”. The eye perfector bag also had a travel set that they were giving away for free as a gift with purchase at one point.

These aren’t bad products necessarily, but the way they handled the advertising versus what we received was not done well. Maybe “Sample Grab Bags” would have been a more accurate way to describe them?

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Totally agree with your review / comments. Thanks for adding everything up!

Oh, I did want to say, the Eye bag had a full size SmartFX SmartEye Wrinkle Lift in it. Mine leaked all over, but I did try what was left and holy cow – I legitimately saw my under eye wrinkles disappear within 60 seconds. It is crazy stuff.

They list it on the site as $60, but it’s on sale for $20, and pretty much everywhere else that sells it online sells it for $20. Must be how they got their crazy valuations.

Resolution kick starters contents:
1) dr Dennis gross, surface refiner and deeper treatment, 1 treatment packet each
2) medicell advanced moisture eye mask duo, 2 patches
3) trophy skin, Argan stem cell serum, foil packet
4) pevonia, power repair hydrating cleanser, 1.7 fl oz
5) kat Burki, hibiscus face mask, 0.23 oz
6) zents, pear oil concentrate, 5 mL
7) perricone MD, chloro plasma treatment mask, 0.4 fl oz
8) skylark memoir fragrance collection, 3 vials (also received same in gym bag)

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

I got that grab bag and the Eye Perfectors. I thought the Eye perfectors might have eyeshadow and different stuff in it, but no mostly repeats of the same Skinmedica crap they can’t seem to get rid of. I did love the Resolutions grab bag, surprisingly love the Skylark fragrance set. Not thrilled I spent $66 on quite a few repeat samples, but I would definitely pay $33 for the Resolutions bag.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

PS- The resolutions bag had 4 full size items, the Pevonia retails for $66-68 but only comes in a 1 oz bottle. So this bottle is probably the old packaging.

Jennifer

Just received today:

Gym bag contents:
1) skylark memoir fragrance 3 vials, 0.18 fl oz
2) santalia clinical acne daily cleanser, 4 fl oz
3) inka large brush, no label, possibly a foundation brush?
4) Fekkai styling creme, 2 oz
5) klorane dry shampoo, 1.06 oz
6) Fekkai full blown volume shampoo, 2 oz
7) Koh Gen Do cleansing spa water cloths, 10 cloths
8) EBOOST shaker, plus 2 energy booster packets

Reply ButtonReply

Kayla

The inka brush is the kabuki brush (I peeled the item number label to see the kabuki label) so that’s a $50 value. I got this and the resolution bag. I was disappointed in all the fragrance but was happy to see the brush.

anna

I just got my eye bag and I am mad! I thought all products included are for eye area. But no! 4 products (2 of them samples ) are for eyes, the rest is face.Cleanser, sunscreen, pigment corrector etc. And I can’t see $250 + value at all. For me personally not worth $49 I spend on it.
I was tempted by anti aging bag and gym bag as well. Maybe they are better. Please post what is in there, please

Reply ButtonReply

Catherine

Thank you so much for posting this! I had thought about picking up the eye bag and now I am definitely NOT wasting $45. Couldn’t live without MSA and their awesome followers 🙂

Can you, please post what did you get in your Eye Perfectors Grab Bag? Thank you.

Reply ButtonReply

Can you ladies please tell what you get in yours bags? I know they are sending very quick, so you will probably get it tomorrow 🙂

I paid $48.94 for the Eye Perfecter grab bag. It says on the description that it’s over a $200 value. It’s my first time buying a one off grab bag/box ever. Hope it’s worth it!

Reply ButtonReply

Molly

Will someone be a dear and post what it in the hair grab box when you get it? Thanks. I’m dying to order it, but I tend to be a beauty hoarder (lol) and have never gotten a grab box before, so I’m a little hesitant. I appreciate it!

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Okay I bit too! I’ve never heard of derm store, but I looked back at a couple of blush mystery box reviews and it seemed like these would be good deals, especially if I can get the people magazine rebate!

I did the time travelers and hair rescuers boxes. I would have gone for the gym box but that was sold out; the time travelers said it has a 1-2 week delay in shipping which is fine with me.

Oh and the new customer discount worked for me, I got about $10 off $65, so $55 total (and hopefully a $30 rebate). If the products are good I will definitely shop derm store in the future.

I’m excited,

Reply ButtonReply

Allison

I got the eye box and the resolutions box 🙂 I really wanted the gym box and the time travel box, but they are both now sold out (it would appear). Saved the 15% and also got the People subscription – total $66 for the two boxes and the magazine sub!! Worth upwards of $250 or more – totally worth it!! 😀

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

How did you save 15%?

Reply ButtonReply

Christina

If you’re a new email subscriber it’s an automatic 15% popup.

Got the eye bag..given the discount, then the 30 back from the magazine sub..$10 dollars? I couldn’t pass it up. I’ve never gotten anything like it before.

Cindy

I got the eye grab bag. At first I was looking for something else for $5 for the $10/$50 coupon but then I realized the refund on the magazine is actually a better deal. I had a $5 gc number from a problem with a previous order so the entire thing should end up costing me $10. How could I pass up that?

Cindy

It was a moment of weakness 🙁 I ordered the hair rescuers and gym bag buddies. A $10.00 coupon was automatically applied to my order along with the Peoples Magazine.
