Black Dahlia Lacquer is a brand new nail polish subscription box. They offer 2 subscription plans: polish + jewelry, and polish only. Black Dahlia Lacquer is a hand-crafted, vegan, and 5-free nail polish line created by a mother-daughter team. They’re also certified cruelty-free by the CCIC and only work with vendors who don’t test on animals.
They also offer options to purchase a month’s box without a subscription (for a little bit extra) on their website each month.
This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Black Dahlia Lacquer in Holiday Heather – 8 ml, value: $6.75
Black Dahlia Lacquer in Vibrant Poinsettias – 8 ml, value: $6
This first polish, Holiday Heather, was made exclusively for the November box so you can’t buy it online – but here is a very similar one (just silver instead of lavender). Holiday Heather is a “dusty lavender, filled with holo micro glitter.” I love this color!
Vibrant Poinsettias is one of the polishes in their Holiday Micro Glitter Trio that launched on December 5th. It’s on the border between pink and red, and has holo glitter and red sparkles in it.
Here are some swatches – I like the formula a lot! I haven’t tested to see how long they wear without chipping, but the consistency and opacity are both nice. These seemed have just a little bit of texture when completely dry (probably because of the glitter), but I’m sure a top coat would even it all out again.
Oval Holo Short Necklace – value: $20
This is the necklace included in my box. Every piece of jewelry is handmade and no two subscribers get the exact same piece. I couldn’t find this exact one on their product page, but here is one that is very, very similar. I like the necklace, but I’m not sure it’s quite my style – I’ll probably use it as a Christmas gift!
Verdict: Overall, I’m really happy with the first month of Black Dahlia Lacquer! I love that the polishes are 5-free, cruelty-free, and vegan. I’m a big fan of the colors the designed and sent for the holidays, too. The value comes out to $32.75, so I’m happy with that!
