Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – November 2014 Box

Wantable is a monthly subscription service that has 3 different plans: Makeup, Accessories, and Intimates. (And coming soon – Fitness!) It’s one of the pricier subscriptions ($36 a month), but everything they send is full size, and they fully customize the boxes based on your preferences.

You get to take a very detailed survey of what items you love, like and dislike. You won’t receive anything in your dislike list.

I used to get very specific with this list, but I've found that I have better luck at high-value boxes when fewer things are on my dislike list.

Marsk Mineral Foundation in Nude - Value $55

I think this foundation may be my favorite ever discovery from Wantable Makeup! This foundation loose powder goes on relatively sheer, and looks like you're wearing no makeup. I love that it is paraben and fragrance free, and the color matches well with my skintone.

Surratt Surreal Skin Concealer (Shade 1) - Value $50

Spellbound Nail Polish in Voodoo - Value $14

Surratt is new-to-me beauty brand, and I was impressed with the fact that the only online store I could find it in is Barney's. Unfortunately for me though this color is far too light for my skin tone. It also goes on a little more sheer than I was hoping for.

FYI - if you select Nail Polish as one of your likes in your Wantable preferences, you will get a Spellbound nail polish. I have quite a few now, but I like the formula so that's fine with me.

Surratt Eye Brow Pencil in Brunette - Value $40 total (This came with the brow pencil holder and the pencil cartridge in brunette).

I'm pretty easy to please with eye brow pencils - as long the shade matches my eye brows! This one works for me!

Verdict: Aside from the concealer not matching my skintone, this was an excellent box for me. The value is also the best I've ever received in a Wantable Makeup box - $159. Have you received Marsk or Surratt in your Wantable Makeup box? What do you think of the brands?

I wish wantable would have a beauty box. Shower gels, soaps, face products, and pampering beauty accessories.

A little piece of advice I just discovered earlier this month: At the bottom of your Wantable order, there’s a little section for you to leave a comment, I used it for three boxes (two intimates and one makeup) and the stylist not only listened, but he/she gave me at least one of the items I asked for and commented back on the little invoice that comes in the box. I thought that was pretty cool. I looked at boxes that other people had gotten, and got very specific on what I wanted. Try it and let us all know what you think! 🙂

I did that for my first accessories box, I just got. The box was personalized to my specification. Yet I still did not like 3 items in the box. The space is very little. So I was able to ad more comments. I cant send 3 of the 4 items back, because the value of 1 of the items I like exceeds the amount paid. I ended up changing my survey questions in hopes the next box will be more to my liking.

This box was a miss for me. I got a Vincent Longo lip pencil I love. My Spellbound nail polish was okay (great color but rather clumpy consistency). I got a Surratt brow pencil and a Surratt eyeliner. I don’t understand the positive reviews for this brand – both my products were terribly dried out, hard to apply (I was stabbing myself to get any makeup at all on my skin), and under-pigmented (seemed like a cheap formula to me). I tried to do a partial return but apparently the lip liner was $29, and I’d bought the box on sale for $25, so unless I returned everything I wasn’t getting any money back. I feel kind of screwed getting two products from the same brand that are totally unusable. I have Wantable Intimates and like it, but I probably won’t do Wantable Makeup again.

I had a miss my first month on Wantable Makeup. I ended up with 2 products that I gifted. The other two were great. I went back through and retook my quiz and the next two months have been spectacular.

For example, I realized I’m pretty picky on certain types of items, so I put dislike for those items so I wouldn’t have to worry about them.

Perhaps that may work for you?

I like that you can skip a month with Wantable and I love that they send foundation which most subs don’t. I may be in the minority there. I hope if I join that I get the foundation. I have been wanting and needing mineral foundation. I also need a new brow pencil. Subscription boxes rarely send them. With there half off box, I will probably give it a shot. I wanna try that foundation though, eyeing the brand a lot lately. Plus I only own 1 eye brow pencil and I have 5 subscriptions. Never received foundation either. 🙂 I also like the nail polish brand, the packaging is cute.

I think I would trust foundation from Wantable more than anywhere else. They actually do customization. I would totally get the wrong shade from a lot of other places (I use the lightest shade).

However, I have a Glossybox full of different foundations I bought at Target and Ulta (every few years I try out some new ones to see if there is a new formula I like) so I should probably use those before subscribing to anything else.

Wantable always has my favorite curation of makeup. I like the Surratt eyeliner I received from a previous box, but definitely didn’t see the value in the concealer this month – $50?! I have received that Marsk mineral powder before and I LOVE it!! It is my second favorite product from them – Billion Dollar Brow Universal pencil. I have a Spellbound polish on my nails right now from last month – but I really like the color you received this month! It dries really fast and wears well – great formula.

I got 4 products this month as well:

Geri G foundation. LOVED it. Smells like roses. Perfect match for my skin.
Surratt brow pencil in raven (I have bottle black hair). Works great.
Mirabella lip crayon in Rose (fluorescent pink). Very great. Long lasting.
(Pla) blush in a matte pink color. Very pretty.

It was a great box and my value was at $123. I love everything and have been using the products in it since I got it 2 days ago.

Can someone look at the Surratt ingredient list and tell me what preservative they use? Is is phenoxyethanol?

I adore the Surratt products. I also got the brow pencil (in blonde) this month, and an eyeliner last month that I absolutely love and am not looking forward to the pricetag when I have to replace it. Hoping for more Surratt in future boxes.

I bought two wantable makeup boxes last month which i got the first week of November. one of my boxes had a value of 76 while my second account had a value of 167.20. I received the Marsk mineral foundation too, I haven’t tried it yet, but this was by far the best value box I have ever received from wantable. Still debating if I’ll order one this month. I’m cutting back on my subs since I’m not using enough of my items. Wantable is a box I get every once in a while, I love that you can easily skip a month without any hassle. its one of the best subs for that reason alone.
