Liz – Do you remember what the Black Friday ‘surprises’ were supposed to be worth?
I bought #’s 1-4 @ $4.99, $4.99, $6.99, and $6.99 but I thought that it was supposed to be that price for higher valued things like $15-$28. I only received 5 polishes and they were bad and old!

Sorry – I don’t remember 🙁 I’d contact Julep to let them know you’re disappointed though. Maybe they will make it right?

Yeah I will try – one is half empty and solid as a rock! At least for that one. Thanks!

If you use a top coat it will not chip for at least 5-7days. I get mad because if I don’t use a top coat they chip within a day or two. but I LOVE julep polishes.
I just got Marla from my November box and after two coats, (no top coat, no base coat) I wore to work for three days and no chipping at all. (the only places the was coming off a little was the tip of the nail but no one else but me could see it.). And the shine on Marla was so gorgeous.
I love Julep for the most part and I have quite a bit. I’ve been a maven for a year and have bought almost every montly box 4/16) plus pretty much ever mystery box they had. (except two over the spring and summer because I was getting dupes.)
I love their colors, I love how it looks on. I love their top coat. They’re great. a little over priced, but great.

I get chips with any polish after 1 day, Julep included. Yes, I (always) use a top coat. I have tried about 6 different top coats. Same thing every time.
The least chippy polish I have found so far is Nails Inc. gel effect polish. I like Julep, but different colors perform differently for me. I got chips in the July birthstone polish after 1 day, some of their other glitters last longer.

Thanks for the heads up…. I bought Eden for $4.99 and got a $14 polish (the celery green one) for $1. $5.99 for two polishes works for me. 🙂
One of the add on choices is a 2-pack of freedom polymer topcoat for $9.99. This is a great price — it’s usually $14+ for one bottle. And I adore this topcoat.

Are julep polishes any better at staying on than other popular brands like opi ot essie etc?

I personally think Julep chips faster than OPI or Essie. That is why I stopped buying them. The next day I have to begin with the touch ups already….

I personally don’t think so – I went through my Julep phase last year and still have quite a collection left because I’ll often reach for another brand over those polishes. There are really only a couple I would still consider repurchasing now that I’m no longer a Maven because of the finish. I would say that the majority of my Julep polishes chip faster than my OPI (but again, it might be specific to the finish – i.e. microglitter vs creme has a different lifespan on my nails). I don’t think Julep’s claim to fame is that their polish is long-lasting though.

I personally think the staying power of all three is similar… my main problem with Julep is the drying process- often the surface dries and the layer of polish doesn’t, so it forms a “jelly” sort of thing and easily get print marks. But I still buy Julep polishes, I’m a total sucker for them.
