Timothy Ferris Quarterly Box Subscription Review #TIM07 Box

Timothy Ferriss is one of the original Quarterly curators, and the most popular curator on Quarterly's site.

Here is Quarterly's bio on Tim:

Timothy Ferriss wrote the #1 national bestseller The 4-Hour Chef. The theme of his Quarterly mailings is obsession—the ideas and objects he can't get out of his head.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Timothy Ferris Quarterly Box Subscription Review #TIM07 Letter

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator detailing the items included and why they were selected. For this box, Tim included items that "will help you enhance cognitive function, improve fitness and sleep, and (potentially) transform your approaches to money, the markets, and life in general."

Tim's letters are a little different - he covers each item in depth in a video.

Timothy Ferris Quarterly Box Subscription Review #TIM07 Shine

MisFit Shine - Value $99 (On Amazon for $92)

Timothy Ferris Quarterly Box Subscription Review #TIM07 Open

This device is an activity tracker - but unlike a lot of similar devices on the market it has a 6-month battery and doesn't need charged. I've tried a few of these devices before: Jawbone (it stopped working after a month) and FitBit (I just stopped wearing it after a while), but I'm thinking I'll give this a try. For me, having to remember to charge FitBit and put it back on was somewhat of a barrier. And this gets good reviews on Amazon so I'm intrigued!

Timothy Ferris Quarterly Box Subscription Review #TIM07 Losing a Million

What I Learned Losing A Million Dollars - Retail Value $28 (On Amazon for $23)

This book gets excellent reviews on Amazon, and takes an interesting and unique approach to the wealth building book genre. I'm excited to read it. (It also won the 2014 Axiom Business Book award gold medal).

Timothy Ferris Quarterly Box Subscription Review #TIM07 Tea

Rishi Tea in Tumeric Ginger - Value $7.50

Natural Stacks CILTREP Optimal Mental Performance - $42.95

I love tea, and this blend is unique and different to what I usually drink, so I'm happy! I don't think the Natural Stacks mental performance capsules are for me though. There are a few too many warnings that go along with it!

Timothy Ferris Quarterly Box Subscription Review #TIM07 Grip It

Cocoon GRID-IT - Value $15

I received one of these GRID-ITs in a Lost Crates a long time ago, and they are really useful for traveling. I don't travel enough to justify keeping it, so I'll probably gift this.

Verdict: This box cost $100 and has a value of about $190. I think everything in the box is quality and there are no "filler" items, so I'm happy with the value. The capsules are the one thing that aren't a fit for me, but otherwise I thought this was a very interesting and unique box. (And I love getting new books to read I wouldn't normally come across).

What do you think of #TIM07?

Liz – Is MSA going to order the one time $5000 mega holiday box by Tim Ferris?

A guy who purchased a Holiday Mega box is going to post what was in it on this website: http://totalstart.com/tim-ferriss-5k-mystery-box/#comment-3536 I’m excited to see what was in it. Haha Liz re: the mini cooper 😉

Only if it includes a mini cooper 🙂

What box is that?

That’s all I know about it from what I read on their Facebook page. It has a link to TF’s blog, but not much more information. I was checking out their Facebook page after seeing that the NG box has been rescheduled to November.

Liz, you sure can tell that you are from southwestern PA with your “need charged”. My good friends from that area say is and I’ve been missing them. Thanks for the ‘burg reminder!

Ava

is there a way to get this box still? or do we have to wait to see if it goes on best of quarterly?

Ava – My suggestion is to email Quarterly and let them know you want to buy it. I did exactly that after I read the Jessica Comingore Quarterly review and now have the box in my possession. They should be able to tell you if they can ship a box right away or wait to see if there are leftovers from the ones waiting for updated credit card information.

I like this box and am signing up for his next box. I am going to check out the book. A part of me wants to email Quarterly to see if any are available since I don’t have a fitness band, but I do have too many Quarterly boxes coming in November!

Thanks for the suggestion! I emailed them and they are sending the box right away! Soo excited to try out the misfit Shine!

This looks like a really interesting box, especially if you don’t already have a fitbit or jawbone. (I’m currently on my second fitbit – my toddler flushed my first one while I was giving my other daughter a bath. Kids.) And I’ll be adding that book to my reading list.

I just got a fitbit and i’m intrigued by this one that was in this box… does it have an optional digital clock in the middle of the display? if not, i’m happy with my fitbit, that’s a little obtrusive for something that’s just measuring how often you move..

Julie

I’d rather charge my fitbit every few evenings for an hour or so, which is all it takes, than have a blank clock on my hand for people to question. fitbits are cuter!

Sneaky Burrito

My fitbit is almost a year old and I only use half the charge in a week. (I make it a practice to charge it once a week, anyway, just so I don’t run out at inconvenient times. I do it while I’m deep conditioning my hair with coconut oil, which takes a long time, and it’s all done by the time I’m out of the tub.)

I find I don’t forget to put it on, either. Because I get incentives from my health insurance company (I exchange points for Amazon gift cards), I have it registered with Walgreens for points towards merchandise, and I just signed up for Achievemint (which is supposed to give you a $50 Visa gift card when you earn enough points). So it’s basically like getting paid to wear it.
