Swaag Box Review & $5 First Box Offer - October 2014 Box

Swaag Box is a time-of-the-month subscription box. You select the type of pads/tampons you want, and they surprise you with makeup and jewelry items, plus a sweet or two. (There is also the option to double your makeup and jewelry each month for an extra $6).

Since they are currently offering a first-month-trial for only $5, I decided to give this box a try.

Swaag Box Review & $5 First Box Offer - October 2014 Items

The Subscription Box: SwaagBox

Ships to: US

Good to Know: You can subscribe via PayPal in addition to credit cards.

Swaag Box Review & $5 First Box Offer - October 2014 Info

This box came with a card detailing the items included. (The items aren't super specific - you will get two Hard Candy makeup items, but I'm guessing it will vary box-to-box).

Swaag Box Review & $5 First Box Offer - October 2014 Always

Always Ultra Thin Pads - Value $4

Blow Pop Lollipop - Value $.15

If years ago someone told me I'd be taking pictures of pads next to a lollipop for my blog I wouldn't have believed them - but here I am! 🙂

On a less silly note, I'm happy to see they send out the full package of tampons/pads. From comments on other time-of-the-month box reviews, I know some are concerned about the possible sanitary issues of getting single pads/tampons, so this is a nice change.

Swaag Box Review & $5 First Box Offer - October 2014 Bracelet

Breast Cancer Awareness Bracelet - Retail Value $19.95 (Found on Amazon for $9)

On the card Swaag Box also included this note: "As part of our support we will be donating a portion of our proceeds to the Susan G Komen Foundation for every box we send out this month."

Swaag Box Review & $5 First Box Offer - October 2014 Nail Polish

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Chiffon Chic - Value $3

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Audacious Asphalt - Value $3

I wasn't having much luck finding these specific shades online, but the polish in general retails for about $3. I'm thinking these shades may no longer be on the shelves - which isn't a problem for me, but just worth noting.

Swaag Box Review & $5 First Box Offer - October 2014 Hard Candy

Hard Candy 1000 Lashes Fiberized Lash Weave Mascara in Blue - Value $6

Hard Candy Glitz Stick - Value $6 (Currently out of stock on Walmart's site)

This mascara was completely sealed on both ends of the package (you can see I really had to rip the box open), but unfortunately the wrapping on the Glitz Stick looked like it had already been opened:

Swaag Box Review & $5 First Box Offer - October 2014 Opened

That tape was already like that when I got it. I'm going to reach out to SwaagBox and let them know. From what I can tell on social media they are pretty responsive so I don't anticipate having any issues. (I'm not sure I want a replacement of this specific item though - I don't think I can rock the green glitter look!)

The mascara on the other hand might be a look I can pull off. I like a subtle blue eyeliner over black eyeliner, and I may use this blue macara as a top coat over my regular black mascara.

Verdict: This box would have had a value of about $30 if the Glitz Stick was usable. Some of the makeup seems to be older inventory, so that's something to keep in mind. This box was definitely worth the $5 I spent, and I'm going to stick around for at least another month to get a better sense of what I can expect to get each month. If they can get to a place where they are sending out current on-the-shelves makeup, I think this would be a great value box. (BoxyCharm and Lip Monthly have made the transition, so I'm hopeful!)

What do you think of Swaag Box?

I got the April 2015 and May 2015 boxes, so I guess my comments are the most current as of now. The first box is now $8. I went looking for the $5 offer , Only to find it is obsolete. But I was impressed, with both boxes. Th e jewelry is more upscale than what i have hear talked about. I got a lovely lime stone bracelet in April’s-which is one of the hot colors for this spring.

i had quit after 8 days the first box and I got an email offer to get a free Lancome Mascara or eyeliner if I rejoin-along with all else. So I did. it was a half size, like the ones found in Lancome gift sets-but very nice.

It’s not bad for $16–not a a lot of flash to it–but really, it’s a “time of the month” box-there is not a lot of flash surrounding that anyways.

Odd, in May’s box I also got the Maybelline Chiffon Chic you got. But I did not get two nail colors.

Some TOM services have one under-others have had reorganize. And so me want $30–way too much-for a month of necessities and goodies.

I hope this one succeeds.

Had a $5 first box promo code (reg $10) and decided to give this a try. While it’s convenient to have feminine products (or any thing) delivered to directly to your home and you’ll definitely use the feminine products you select, the rest of the items that come with this box do not make it worth paying $10. If you’ve acquired different tastes or preferences in candy/chocolates, skincare, make up and jewelry you probably won’t enjoy this as much as a teenager/young adult would.

I love this box. The makeup is not top brandnames and its cheap jewelery BUT its a way to never have to buy tampons again! Lol. I get double makeup and jewelery and habe been happy every month. I have to hide my chocolate bars from my man but this is a box ill always get. Its no glossybox or boxycharm but it does the job! Haha! I have never been a person ro but costune jewelery because i know you only get a few wears from it so i enjoy getting to try some of the bangles i get in this box. .even if they are gonna turn color next month.

This made me literally L O L: “If years ago someone told me I’d be taking pictures of pads next to a lollipop for my blog I wouldn’t have believed them – but here I am! :)” So funny! ♥

I only paid $5 for my first box and liked it. I cancelled after opening my second box today. I felt there are other boxes that I would rather spend $16. I received my pads, 3 fun size chocolate bars, Revlon diamond lust eye shadow in Starry Pink, Maybelline lip stain “in the buff”, and a silver necklace with heart charm made in China.

Terrible customer service and they just changed their name inexplicably to Tomboxes.

My first $5 month with double jewelry & makeup was great BUT they didn’t have my usual brands so I guessed on a pad and guessed poorly. These were the size of a football field (lol but true!)!

I could NOT get them to change it! No one answers the phone (no voicemail) and not one email, FB, or Instagram response! So after second month still wrong I tried to cancel. No luck. Then third month, STILL wrong, I received leaking makeup and ruined candy. No response. Finally (hopefully) they stopped although I just received an auto email saying they were shipping soon. *headdesk*

I had ordered the Swaag box on the 17 of this month and still have not received my box, and the tracking number they sent me did not work :(. I contacted them, but no reply yet.

I recieved mine today, I got the same 2 nail polishes, breast cancer bracelet, hard candy tinted lip balm (fishnet) hard candy sparkle lip liner and 4 fun size chocolate candies……

I received mine in the mail last week and was extremely disappointed!! Feminine products were fine, but then it had 1 bottle of pink nail polish, breast cancer awareness bracelet, 4 small candy bars and LA Style concealer that was completely dried out and not usable. Oh, and a bunch of packing peanuts. To say the least the amount of money I spent was more than the amount of the products I received. My niece got the same one earlier in the month and it was night and day compared to the one I received. I have emailed Swaag, so hopefully they will follow up or I will be cancelling this subscription ASAP!!!

I just received my Swaagbox today, I got the double makeup and jewelry for $11. I do love that you get your own whole package of feminine products. I also got the breast cancer awareness bracelet that Liz got and a steel bangle. I got 3 Hard Candy glitter eye liners, Hard Candy colored mascara, Revlon diamond lust eye shadow, and a Hard Candy lip balm, and one Maybelline nail polish. On the card it says we get two Maybelline nail polishes, so I’m going to email them and see if they just missed it or what. I got a fun size pack of M&M’s, a mini twix, mini snickers and mini 3 musketeers. I love that they included chocolate, I’ve had TOM boxes before and it was mostly fruity candy, who wants that during your TOM?? Bring on the chocolate please! I might keep this for another month and go back to the regular box, I couldn’t see paying $22 for this box, but I really liked it.

My pink nail polish was totally broken and all over everything ruining my Oreos so that was really discouraging. I reached out to them so in hoping they can do something about that.

I also ordered a box but I got double makeup and jewelry. Swaagbox sent me a tracking number, they said it will be in New Orleans on the 22nd. After my order went through I contacted the company via email concerning my address, they responded within minutes. So far so good but the real verdict is still out until the open that box. I will let you all know how it turns out in a few days.

UPDATE: I received my box today. One day earlier than the expected delivery date. I used the code and got double makeup and jewelry. Total:$11.00 In my box was 2 breast cancer awareness bracelets, 1 stainless steel bangle and 1 bracelet just like Liz has pictured in the post. 1 Maybelline nail lacquer same color as Liz. 1 Hard Candy blue mascara, same as Liz. 1 Revlon diamond lust pink eye shadow. 1 Hard Candy green eye shadow. 4 eye liners, pink, two green, and one double headed, black and blue. 3 miniature chocolate candies and 1 box of Tampax pearl 18 count.
The makeup was NOT a hit for me but my 12 year old will have fun playing around with it. As for the bracelets, we will only use then this month then give then away.

My eyeshadow arrived completely shattered, and the seal on my eyeliner was also torn/broken and clearly had been opened too.. So both makeup items were unusable. 🙁 I’ve reached out to Swaag box to let them know, so we’ll see what happens.

Sorry to hear it. Hopefully they make it right. Let us know!

The October box will be my second. I was thrilled with my first box, even though I had to request a replacement, they sent it THE NEXT day. I mean, fastest customer service ever. They also told me on FB that you can request makeup/jewelry only for $10/month. So in Nov that’s my plan, I think. Considering a pkg of pads or tampons is $7, this is really a good deal, and I love Hard Candy makeup. It’s fun and inspired. I look forward to the months to come.

I opted for the double makeup box, and I got…

18 pk always ultra thin with wings
6 pack of Oreo cookies
Maybelline Color Show, same colors as MSA
Revlon Diamond Lust eyeshadow in Starry Pink
3 Hard Candy Take Me Out eyeliner – Chop Suey, Wild Child, and Soy.
Hard Candy Lip Tattoo stain and gloss in color Champagne
Hard Candy Single and Loving It eyeshadow in fancy-free
The same bracelet MSA received
A second bracelet, which is a silver unhinged part-open (so it pulls open and bends closed for sizing) with non-moving silver balls and a pink breast cancer ribbon charm in the center.

I don’t like either bracelet, so I’ll probably just donate it to a thrift store. Some of the makeup is a little bit… youthful, for me (blue eyeliner was my favorite thing when I was 12, but not so much now) but I’ll definitely be able to use both shadows and maybe the lip stuff. And the oreos are definitely a better TTOM treat than hard candy!

I’m not sure if I’d stay subscribed though – and if I do, probably not for double cosmetics.

Glad I only paid the $5 for this box. I’m glad I got the tampons and I like the nail polish. I also got a hard candy eyeliner…we will see if I like that. the other hard candy item I got is a sparkly pink lipgloss…not for me. I’m not a fan of the bracelet. I won’t be paying for another box. I’m going to cancel through paypal.

I received my second box this month. I receive double makeup and jewelry.
My second box was amazing. I think they listen to all the feedback and it definitely showed in my second box.
I was going to cancel after the first box, glad I stuck around. Thier customer service is amazing!!!
I emailed them because I noticed they carry the always infinity brand ( my favorite) ..I didn’t notice this brand as an option when I signed up, I wanted to switch from Kotex to Infinity. They sent me an email within a hour and made the switch for me.
The only negative…they need a filler in the box to prevent eye shadows from breaking.

I tried them when they first came out, and it was terrible. It looks like they have already improved a good bit!
